people in their 20s looking to lose 100+ lbs?
so i'm 23 and my cw is 257 and i'd like to lose 100+ lbs, would anyone like to go on this journey with me? we could weigh in weekly and like keep each other in line?
azmami, tell me more on how thie wrist test thing works. When I put my fingers around my wrist they over lap a little. I have really small writsts. Does that mean my frame is small under all this "fluff"? I have really wide hips though!

Go to "My Account" under your picture click on "Edit Settings" scroll down & right below where it asks for your "Target Daily Calories" it says the following..
To determine your body type, wrap your middle finger and thumb around your wrist.
- If your fingers overlap, you are a small frame.
- If your fingers just touch, you are a medium frame.
- If your fingers do not meet, you are a large frame.
It gives you the option to add this in to your acct settings... Hope that helps!

Is there room for one more in here? I just joined this week, looking to drop from my current weight (somewhere between 245 and 255...I don't know if my scale is trustworthy or not, it's as old as the sun) down to about 150-160.

Well my stats are a bit hard to determine since the only scale I have at home is a real old clunker. It says 245 right now, but I remember weighing myself about a month ago and being just under 260. So either I've lost weight without trying (unlikely!) or one or both of the scales was wrong.
I tend to wear anything from a size 20 to a size 24 depending on the clothes.
I'm looking to get down to about a size 12, which I think for me would be about 150ish. Also I want to be able to be active again, and to get back to loving walking, hiking, swimming and biking rather than dreading exercise! My goals are more about body health and shape than weight I guess, but weight is tied to those of course.
I definitely have work to do both in the food habits and the exercise habits department.

For those of you who aren't familiar with my story.. I started this weightloss journey bcuz of a biggest loser competition here at work... I'm in 7th place right now & this is what happened just a few mins ago..
One of the men that is winning me by only .21% (I'm 8.5% weight loss & he is at 8.71%) just said that I will never be able to win his spot. He said he can lose 4lbs in a wk & I cant top that... He also said he can go drink 4-30pks of beer & still win me so to not even try it... I feel like whooping him good but then what he said is kind of true. He does put up 4lb p/wk loss at times & I do good to lose 2.8lbs p/wk. Another thing is that he weighs about 20lbs less than I do so if he does lose a lil he will put up a bigger %...
I'm dreading Monday now...
you better whoop him! for all of us! don't ya know it's the turtle that wins the race! he'll probably hit a plateau and you'll cruise right past him. hello to all the new members. i've challenged everyone to try and drink about 3 liters of water a day. it seems like a lot but its about 3 large mcdonalds cups full. another member has challenged everyone to try and set a workout goal for each week one person set 3 hours and another set 15 hours, whatever floats your boat. those that have a scale weigh in each week and post about it. good luck everybody!

That's right Courtney! Don't worry about it azmami. Your main goal should be to get healthy. If you win money in the meantime, thats great! Just remember, they are doing it for the money and are most likely gonna blow back up again or maybe even get bigger than before! Thats not healthy! The choice to lose weight and get healthy is a LIFETIME journey. Even when you get to your goal weight, you will still have to work hard, if not harder to keep it off. I think to become successful in this you have to completely change your LIFESTYLE. Keep your head up and just ignore that @#$!%^&... I'm here if you need to talk!
Courtney.... 3liters a day... I fill up a 16.9fl oz. bottle about 4x daily... so all i have to do is fill it 2 extra times per day to meet that goal!!! Im in! With the activity goal... I'm at about 8-10hrs per week now... i will TRY for 15. thats a little much though. thats more than 2hrs per day! OMG!
Thanks ladies! I will try my hardest but I do feel some cramps coming on... I'm either going to start this week or next... this isn't cool.. There's only two wks left in the competition... ouch!!!!
I feel your pain Azmami! We have 21 days left in our competition and my boss says he is going to beat me, but our competition is based on the number of pounds lost. I am already at 13 pounds down just for this competition and I want to try and loose another 5-10 pounds before weight in. I know it sounds unrealistic to loose that much in 21 days, but I have been loosing a pound a day with my routine so I'm hoping that I can keep it up and keep going forward! :) Good Luck to you! I know with your woman power you can take this guy!!!!!!!
What do you mean me?? You mean WE have women power!!! lol!! We can take these guys... If I can lost 2.8lbs each wk for the next 2wks just as I did last wk I will have lost 23lbs in 3mos. I may not win the competition but I have won a lot more already
& that includes you guys, my new weightloss friends!!! If you can do the same for the next 21dys, 2.8lbs p/wk you will lose 8.4lbs.. I know .5-2lbs is great but if I can do it I know you can too.. I don't own a scale so I don't know where I'm at.. Plus 2wks ago on a Thursday I weighed myself downstairs on the "judges" scale & it said I had gained 2.4lbs.. I weighed myself not even 2mins later on a friends scale & it said I gained 1.8lbs... Then Monday came & I had lost the 2.8lbs... Good luck to you Kekri84!!!! &nbs p; HAPPY FRIDAY TO YOU ALL!!!!!!

Here is my routine for my weightloss challenge:
I have discovered a routine that works for me and I loose about a pound a day. I'm not so sure if this is healthy; howerver, I'm not starving myself and I don't feel hungry.
I drink a TON of water a day!!! Like in the bathroom every ten minutes..lol
I eat most of my calories between 8am and 3pm and I eat between 600-1000 calories. I run on my eliptical for about 10 mins a day or my bf and I walk for about a half hour. Either way, I get daily exercise. For dinner I have veggies with a little bit of french onion dip.
The next morning when I get on the scale, it's always a pound lighter! ![]()
What days do you weigh-in? Do you manage to keep it all off for that week? I too am taking bathroom breaks every 10-15mins lol! Some days I have a hard time of making my 1200cals because I drink so much water that when I try to eat I feel a bit sick from being full.. Then I try to eat as much "good" food as I can but still can't hit my 1200... Most mornings I work out for about 50min-60mins but there are days when I can't. I need to do a lot more!!!! Our kids take up a huge part of our time so I try to get in what I can. Plus wit this AZ heat I can't take them out too much or too early if I want to walk but I also can't take them out too late. Also My bed time is around 11p-1am & at times I have insomnia.. I've been waking up at 530am to work out but when I've barely gone to bed at 4am that's a bit hard... Throws my schedule way off.. I get down on myself for not excercising but then I have to stop & think at how much I've lost & lost p/wk then I don't feel too bad bcuz I know i'm doing something right.. hehe
I am so sad today....
I gained... I gained 6/10 of a pound... went from 187.2 - 187.8... I think I just dropped to like 10th place.... #1 lost 12lbs this wk & #2 lost 3.8lbs.... I'm so depressed right now... I feel like a huge loser cow....
any rocks around that I can crawl under????
so did anyone weigh in over the weekend? if so, was it good or bad? also, i'm ready to set a workout goal, yikes! so i'm going to start small and shoot for 3.5 hours a week of pure exercise, not counting cutting grass and doing physical activities in general. wish me luck!
I think i'm getting this water goal in. I drink about 4-5 16.9 ounce bottles at work then about another 2-3 large glasses at home (i don't know the size though)...? it seems like enough i dunno -LOL
I am definitely meeting the water goal... Yippee! I have a lot more energy too!!! Now the weight loss isnt going so well... I gained then went back to 287!!!! Maybe its my scale or maybe its not!!! Oh well... I'm not giving up! I feel way too good to return to misery!
I do have a question for everyone!!! I am going camping in bodega bay for 4th of July.. I'm having some problems with the meal planning! My boyfriend and i are going with some friends, some of which are not watching their calories and we planned to just split the cost of groceries and cook for all. Now my question is the sides. I prefer just meat and a side of fruit or veggies for dinner... they want some kind of pasta or something. Pasta is a HUGE weakness for me!!! I love it, so it's probably not a good idea to have any... I know portion control could help... but like i said i LOVE pasta and therefore don't trust myself! Any suggestions on diet friendly sides!?!?!?
