people in their 20s looking to lose 100+ lbs?
so i'm 23 and my cw is 257 and i'd like to lose 100+ lbs, would anyone like to go on this journey with me? we could weigh in weekly and like keep each other in line?
Fyrfli, yeah cheat days have a tendency to get out of hand, haha. You just gotta stay focused and know if you have more than 1 a week it will stall your weight loss.
My biggest challenge is my confusion on how to lose my weight. I try to eat 1200 cals a day but sometimes I'm scared it's too big of a deficit. But then I'm worried to up my calories again because I'm afraid I'll plateau again! AND because of gas prices I don't think I can go to my gym anymore, it's too far away. I'll have to start riding a bike around my subdivision. It's all just confusing!
My cheat days can get out of hand, so I like to have 2 or 3 cheat meals instead of one entire day. Like going to the breakfast buffet on Sunday morning and ordering take out at work one day a week. I usually don't go too far over my calorie budget for the days that I do have cheat meals. If I had a cheat day it would probably be 5000 or 6000 calories
so I think the cheat meals work better for me.
I used one of my cheat 'meals' last night by knocking back a few - I had a 6 pack of that new Bud Light Lime beer with friends. I'm up 2 pounds today now! ![]()
Hopefully it's mostly water weight, I only went over my total calories burned that day by like 250, so no way it can be 2 lbs of fat.
i think after my cheat days im going to try drinking lots of hot tea (seems to make me feel full) to try to curb the mindless nibbling some.
I just always end up doing something with my family or w the DH that includes soo much food all day... But i do try to include extra movement those days... like hitting the Wild Animal park (i live in san diego area n have year passes woohoo lol) But i know im not burning anywhere near as many extra calories as Im eating, but i do try to make those high calorie days more like 2 or 3 times a month instead of just anytime i feel like it like i used to. The few days after i jus end up with deficts of 1 or 2 hundred calories instead of 500-1000.
AUGGGHHHHHHH!!!
So I went to a job interview today because I'm desperately low on money and DP is getting just a wee bit piste off that he is having to pay for everything.
Horrible shifts + good pay = auggggawh;kdfj;dsfhhh
Anyway I need the money lol
I think I'm at like a litre and a half at this point.. 2 litres to go.. and about 4 hours of awake time!! lol.. I think I'll just take the 4 litres into the bathroom and drink it all at once as it goes right through me. That's a fun friday night, right?!
OH, we ended up not going to the movies because the movie that DP wanted to see wasn't being shown at any of the places in the city! So disaster was averted - however, last shopping trip I did actually buy popping corn! Doesn't have anything on it at all, no sugar, no salt, nothin! So I'll take that with me next time we go to the movies - good idea jackie =]]
So I seem to be on like a mini plateau (i hope it's mini) right now. Up to now I've been spending two days on each weight, and then the next day I'm a pound down. Today is the third day of being 238, hopefully tomorrow I'll be 237!
Also today I finally got my digital scales, had to actually go down to the store though, but I was already in town from the interview so that was fine, also got a cute little food processor, so no more excuses to put off making my veggie soups/burgers etc. LOVE it!
Hey everyone, you guys still around? My weigh in day was today and I lost 2 pounds! Woohoo CW: 246
Awesome, congrats on the 2 lb loss! Did anyone else weigh in this Saturday? If so, did the scale go up or down, keep us posted I'd love to hear from everyone.
My first week went awesome. I weighed in last Monday at 269.6 and this morning I weighed in at 262.8 - Amazing how cutting calories and uping exercise works so perfect.
My only problem is this past weekend, my in-laws wanted to go out. I chose a salad, but even so, that's packed with calories too. How do you guys go about dining out when you sort of have to...?
Hey group - I hope everyone had a great weekend. I have a serious case of the blahs that I'm trying to work through. I managed to work out last night but definitely did not work as hard as usual. I'm struggling because last week I had 5 really good workouts and totally kept on track calorie-wise. On Saturday, I weighed the same as last week. The same! I need to just keep a good attitude and keep working hard. But I can't help feeling frustrated.
Samanthaleigh87 - I know what you mean about going out to eat. We only go out once a week so it feels like a treat. I don't usually go over maintenance, but I do usually have a smaller deficit. Also I end up "guesstimating" the calories in lettuce wraps, chicken sandwiches, etc. We have to do this for the rest of our lives so I guess we have to get used to it!
Eating out shouldn't be a problem if we just eat sensibly. Sometimes stuff we think is healthy, like salads, can be really horrible and loaded with calories from cheese and bacon and the dressing and croutons, etc. A lot of companies are starting to publish their nutrition information online so I went ahead and printed a large stack of nutrition info for places that I like and looked at what I thought was healthy and learned a lot of times I was wrong. The internet is a great tool, see what you can find out there....
When you eat out, you can't go too wrong with a lean steak or grilled chicken with veggies! Just don't go too heavy with the pastas or creamy sauces and it shouldn't be too bad.
Hi my name is Jess, if you're still looking for a weight loss buddy I would love to join you. Doing this with others is a big help for me. Have you chosen a day for weigh ins? Any suggestions on a good scale? I need to find one.

Congrats to everyone who lost weight last week!!! :)
I, on the other hand, am plateaued at 251 for the last 7 days. I want to get in to the 40's this week but as of right now it is not looking good.
My co-workers have brought in treats yesterday and today and I sit across from the kitchen so that is being a bit of a set back for me. I try to chew gum but the smell of donuts, bagels, pastries and cake is just driving me crazy!!!
And my boston cream pie yoplait light yogurt is not cutting it either....
lol, keri i have a whole diary entry about coworkers and diets...ahhh the temptations! welcome jess, the official weigh in day is on Saturday but some people are probably doing it more than that and some people, including me, don't even have a scale yet. I'll get one, I'm just not going to be obsessed with the numbers until my pants stop getting smaller. You should be able to tell if you're losing through your clothes and the way you feel. Sometimes when people plateau they get discouraged and get off track so for the beginning until this is my lifestyle I'm going to hold off on that. Also, I don't know if you read the earlier posts but I've challenged everyone to drinking about 3 liters of water a day to flush their system. Happy Tuesday :-)
Courtney I can completely relate to you. I have the same issue!
Welcome Jess! Hang in there Stlmelissa...at least it's not going up! Look for something you can change to get it moving again. Nice work Samanthaleigh87! Since I don't go out often (once a week) I just try to pick something reasonable. If you can get a calorie count on it great but otherwise just be sensible and don't stress over it. Grats Jackattack07! Jellybeano nice work on the water...the last time I tried to drink the recommended amount I started feeling sick halfway through the day. Baby steps here for me.
I do my weigh-in on Wednesday because Friday is date night with the hubby and dinner out is my cheat time. Weekends I don't eat on a schedule so I feel like my weight then might give a false reading.
So it's Wednesday:
SW: 235? (no digital scale at starting time)
CW: 224.6 (down 4 pounds from last weigh in)
GW: 130
I got a bit nervous over the weekend because my weight started going back up but it was TTOM for me and it looks like it was just retained water. Phew!
May is my trial month for eating changes. In June I hope to get a work schedule change that will allow me time to workout during the week and cook dinner (currently DH is in charge of dinner).
kitty that's awesome! 4 lbs. woo hoo! anyone else? how about our male out there? did you do okay? also, i'd like to recommend the "10 minute solution" workout dvds, they are AWESOME. The one I have is 10 minute workouts in the following categories: bootcamp, yoga, kickboxing, pilates and ballet. It's really great because when you play the dvd you can pick which ones you want to do and in what order so if you want to do kickboxing followed by ballet you can do that and it's a great workout or you can just do one and you're done in 10 minutes.
Bluesky, sadly, you can't really burn anything significant in 10 minutes.
You have to have your heart rate up for at least 30 minutes continually for you to be burning fat. But if you're doing 3 of them that'd work!
It's a great way to fit in exercise, especially when you don't think that you have time to. Obviously three in a row would be ideal BUT until you've done it I wouldn't knock it. It's very intense and seeing how this is a group for people wanting to lose over 100 lbs I would think getting through one would be an accomplishment and then they can add more if they want to....
Try jumping rope for 10 minutes straight and tell me you're not burning calories!
Its a nice quick little workout!
