Do people do it because they're jealous?

At 5'9", 126lbs I had finally come to accept that I wasn't fat. And for the first time in years I decided to buy myself a mars bar from the canteen. So I'm walking with my friends and this stick-thin obnoxious girl calls me a 'fat heffer' just because I'm eating a mars bar. Is she jealous that she doesn't let herself eat mars bars and I'm eating one? Or am I wrong for thinking I'm not fat?

I can't stand bullies!  Some people are just so unhappy with their lives that they enjoy making others unhappy too.  Don't let this little bout of naming calling ruin your day.

At that height and weight, you are no where near even being chubby, let alone fat. You are probably what, like a size 4? That's super skinny (in a good way).

It might be different if you were like...borderline chubby and someone made that kind of a comment to you....in that case, the person might have just been being mean or hurtful. BUT in your case, since you are no where near fat, the person that said that was obviously having serious jealousy issues and wished that she felt good enough about herself to eat a candy bar.

So don't feel bad about eating it, or wonder secretly if you really are fat...you know that can't possibly be the case. The only possible explanation is that she has superlow self esteem, and she would feel better if you had low self esteem right along with her. But you DON'T! Right?

my opinion (keep in mind I like to play devil's advocate)

She probably has an eating disorder that prevents her from enjoying such treats and she probably was jealous of you that your tall and slender (for 5'9", 126 is NOT fat!) and enjoying such treats.

Personally - I would reach out to her and try to help her - that "fat heffer" comment may very well have been a "PLEASE HELP ME" cry for help. 

First, I would have confronted her, I don't care who you are - no one has the right to pass judgment on you without the proper back ground information. But the confrontation would have been a passive one - I'm not looking for a fight, just address the issue - she had no right to call you any names.

Second, I would ask why she felt she had the right to say something like that. (try to get to the psychological bottom of the comment).

Then I would try to help her.  Perhaps by writing her a note and including the URL (web address) for this site so she can learn to be healthy too and learn that she too can eat a chocolate bar!

Here is what would happen if I was in that situation:

*walking down street causaly. Talking with friends. A bit of laughter. I reach in my purse and pull out a Mars Bar*

*The sunlight shimers off of the wrapping as I un-dress the chocolate bar*

*I open my mouth and take a bit of my well deserved Chocolate bar*

*We walk past a bus stop, and a strange gangly (read:uber skinny and lankey) girl is staring at me*

"Fat Heffer!"

*I then Quickly Turn at her and shove half of the Mars Bar into my mouth and say very loudly*

"OH MY GOD ITS SOOO GOOD!!!" {insernt discusting slurping noises and chewing "NAUM NAUM" Noises}

Girl:"UGH Thats so disgusting you fattie"

"Oh whats that? Awe... you want some? Sure thing sweetie. Its really good!"

*toss other half of Mars Bar at gangly girl*

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

*Maniacly laugh and walk away. My day is so far the best day ever. I then think to myself how I love to throw chocolate bars at anorexic girls. I smile. My friends think of me as a hero. I rule*

Raz honey, I think you and I were evil twins separated at birth LOLOLOL I especially love the whole "Naum Naum" noises....that is hilarious.....I could totally see me doing that!

"fat heifer" seems a bit harsh I would of  called you  a  "corpulent  cow" just for the sake of alliteration,

Except I would have given it more of an Herbal Essence shampoo commercial flavor... "Yes... yes... YES!!!!" and spraying chocolate everywhere.

Ok, I almost sprayed peanut butter and crackers everywhere after reading that.  Lol, srsly.

I had a girl call me fat after I lost 50 lbs. Granted, I still wasn't stick thin....but all I could think about was "****, what do I have to do to please people?". So that was the day I stopped trying to please people.
