3.  ...its seems highly unusual, unneccessary and negative in the first place, to "respectfully disagree" with a person who shares his workout routine, a routine that actually works for him.  he wasn't asking for advice or asking how to improve his routine, he was simply sharing proven results.  in fact, the first few posters in this thread were "encouraged" and happy to see it.....that is until you decided to pick it apart.

The original poster said that his workout was "perfection" in the title of the thread, I respectfully disagreed and then explained why I disagreed.  I never said it didn't work for him, I only said that it could be improved upon.

If someone came on here and posted "I have the best weight loss routine ever, I replace all my meals each day with crack and I've lost a bunch of weight" and then a bunch of posters came on and said "wow! that's a great plan! I'm going to start that program tomorrow!" would you consider it unnecessary or negative if someone else came on and said that maybe replacing your meals with crack wouldn't be the best way of losing weight?

Original Post by iamme1270:

SQUATS ARE NOT THE ONLY ANSWER! Someone said squats were the only answer?

you all have reached a majorly disrespectful low out of trying to throw around intellectual weight lifting superiority on here How is disagreeing with someone and explaining why you disagee with them disrespectful?

you all should be embarrassed for bashing ANYONE's workout- unless it was incorrect or could result in injury-- fine to question for clarification to AVOID injury-- but my god people- the bashing is beyond HEINOUS & DISRESPECTFUL Who based it? I said it could be improved upon and explained why I though so.

-- potter's workout will work for the average layperson who wants to see mass growth in glutes I never said it wouldn't work, I said if it was altered it would work better without even doing 100's of reps-unless they have massive glutes already - then it will for sure build endurance as well if they haven't been doing the reps like him- you can't deny what he's posted will work Again, I never said it wouldn't work, I said it could be made better-- the disrespect to disprove his credibility is absolutely heinous! someone disproved his credibility?

shame on you all... shame on you...

(at least melkor references his data-- and questions to get answers- but the other crud from the few of you? it's just unforgivable...)

Original Post by iamme1270:

whose workout would you guys approve as the best or bash worse?

  • lance armstrong
  • tiger woods (this man has his own gatorade-- gf!)
  • david beckham
  • brett favre
  • kimbo slice
  • kelly pavlik
  • mikhail barishnakov's (sp?) (only ballet i could think of besides gudnov!)

all are top athletes (kimbo- tee hee hee) -- it's been said- what works for one - may or may not work for another-- it depends on your goals...

in my opinion-  probably pavlik & slice are possibly the top training athletes-- strength & endurance-- and with massive amounts of fat free mass (slice, hehe)-- i'd say it's a top mix-- so don't knock what you don't think is the best-- each has relevance in it's own realm!!!!

i just think ANYONE who trains daily with a professional coach has the best mix of endurance & strength-- i am not discrediting anyone else-- i think lance could kick kelly in a cycle race and tiger would kick beckham's butt on the links-- mikhail would kill favre in endurance and agility-- slice would kill them all bc he's just a sociopath... but whatever

it's all relative- they all train differently and each sport & athlete has it's advantages and training edges... give potter credit where credit is due people...

They all have different workout because they all have different athletic goals.  If someone told Tiger Woods that the best way to improve his putting would be to ride his bike 6 hours a day he would (rightfully) disagree (and he'd probably explain his line of thinking in disagreeing).  Maybe that person actually improved his putting by riding his bike, that doesn't make it the best way of doing so and disagreeing with his training program doesn't make Tiger disrespectful or mean he's unnecessarily "bashing" anyone.

I think what the women mean...is positively getting your point accross...instead of saying I diagree..this would have been better:

Potter those exercises seem pretty good, but may I suggest adding this to your workout....and then list your stuff

also I found some info that machines can cause this... (this is positive too)

THAT IS POSITIVE, and that is what I think they mean...that's all

I'm still cool with everyone..it's all good...I'm not going to go in  corner and cry...lol..but i'm not going to post my personal stuff anymore thats all.

Why i think Bare Knuckle is a joke.   Fights are normally very short coz any idiot can throw a one shot ko punch bare knuckle.  Fighters are scared a lot of the time to break/sprain so hard throws arent done ALL that often.   Then the MMA stuff well eh, im just personally not a fan of that, its boring watching grown men grope each other on the floor.   I should do bare knuckle to prove a point, if i can throw a 1 shot KO with 12 ounce gloves i imagine i can do it with out any on pretty easy lmao.

[...everything can be improved upon in every fitness routine ANYONE does in the entire world...why was it necessary for you to "improve" on something that works for someone else?  are you some type of elite muscle god who can tweak every routine to perfection?  Stand down already, the dude was trying to be creative and encouraging for christsake.]

If someone came on here and posted "I have the best weight loss routine ever, I replace all my meals each day with crack and I've lost a bunch of weight"

**ALERT, ALERT** proceed ahead with caution....

[IGNORANT ANALOGY. And once again you manage to bring the "thought" process down in the whole way of thinking about this.  How you can try to equate a workable routine of a healthy athletic man to "crack cocaine weightloss"?  *sigh*]

[i'll tell you whats unneccsary AND netagive -- your ignorant baseless analogy that lacks any resembelance to the actual circumstances.  i don't suppose you have a law degree, huh?]

[P.S. i'm very proud to say that i did not call your analogy STUPID, as i really, really wanted too....x1000]

Also sorry for the sarcastic law comment, but common.

someone owes me $.75 for my time now...

no no, go cry, it will give this thread much needed drama!

hm. with so much "trying to improve" being showered down,  this gives me an idea, and since its okay to take someone elses idea and suggest unwanted and unneccessary improvements...here goes!

flogginskully:  i think i have a workable solution for to improve on your analogy skills.  while i'm sure they work for you, they might cause brain injury to those trying to understand them.  in the future i suggest you squat more and think less.

  ;)

[perfection for HIM, "sharing his results..."...which inspired a few to say, "good idea, ill try that!"]

-How do you know it was perfect for him? If every routine can be improved upon (like you say below) then isn't it true that no routine is perfect?

[...everything can be improved upon in every fitness routine ANYONE does in the entire world...why was it necessary for you to "improve" on something that works for someone else?

- It may work for someone else, but it also might be able to work better if certain things were changed.  I still don't see why you are so agains multiple points of view being shared on a public forum, the original poster said his routine was perfect, I disagreed and explained how I thought it could be made better.

-I believe that having multiple points of view expressed allows people to make a more well-informed decision.  You apparently think all we should do on these forums is tell everyone how great their routine is, and never even think about disagreeing with what others post.

are you some type of elite muscle god who can tweak every routine to perfection?  Stand down already, the dude was trying to be creative and encouraging for christsake.]

-No, I'm not a muscle god and I never claimed that I could make anything perfect. Just because the original poster was trying to be creative doesn't mean disagreement was unwarranted.

*sigh*]

-The point was that just because someone says something works for them doesn't mean it is the best way of accomplishing a goal.  I feel that the analogy demonstrated my point.

[i'll tell you whats unneccsary AND netagive -- your ignorant baseless analogy that lacks any resembelance to the actual circumstances.  i don't suppose you have a law degree, huh?]

-It lacked resemblance to the actual circumstances? Someone suggested something that works for them and other people assuming that it working for one person makes it the best possible route to an end and therefor making it immune to criticism obvisously has no resemblance to what's been going on.

-I don't have a law degree (though I did get an A- in critical reasoning), I do have a science degree.

[P.S. i'm very proud to say that i did not call your analogy STUPID, as i really, really wanted too....x1000]

-You calling my analogy stupid would probably have been a more valid criticism than calling it either ignorant or baseless.

Also sorry for the sarcastic law comment, but common.

-What's common? sarcastic law comments? I don't get it.

someone owes me $.75 for my time now...

squats -- lol-- SQUATS! - argh!!!! I am so tired of squats being the answer to every fitness conundrum!!!

any fitness that gets mind/body/spirit results is good fitness- as long as no one is injured- when someone asks a question & you have some knowledge, share, share with goodheartedness tho!

floggingsully-- you did try to point out some improvements yes, but again, positivity in the responses is the key-- breath - we can all use some lovin on here- i know you got some jabs you might not have deserved, but obviously- any thread on here that claims 'perfection' & 'routine' in the fitness section is seriously just open season for a, well, 'flogging' (lol, i crack myself up)

mgosie- you look fantastic on a side note... curtinks-- we are sooo funny & rational-- potter-- great attitude

gigglepuppy-- i just don't know what to say?! maybe bareknuckles or mma is not your thing- but don't knock someone's sport they train for day in & day out- what's the purpose of that? no one feels better for it-- not even you deep down probably... come on, smile

& for the record-- as others agreed- crack 3x a day would be an effective weight loss plan-- just not a very healthy one with ultimate long term positive outcomes!!! (tongue in cheek)

I don't see how squating more would improve my analogy skills.  Maybe you could provide the reasoning behind your suggestions the way I backed up my suggestions earlier in this thread.

Also, if my analogy skills work for me than who are you to negativly nit-pick and bash my skills or analogies.  My analogies work for me so obviously they're perfect and shouldln't be ciriticized and no opposing views or disagreement is necessary or warranted.

This has turned into the greatest thread ever.

it's decadently good-- like a sinful chocolate cake filled with gooey, overflowing drama... mmmmmm

Oh my god this is ridiculous. Here's what I see happening:

Person A says: here's an awesome routine - ABCDEF

Person B says: I disagree, because of these reasons - wouldn't it be better to do XYZ?

Person A says: Look, everything I explained worked great for me, and if you dont' like it, then don't do it - but here's why I think it's good.

Person B says: Ok, but here's my problem with your reasoning.

A few others weigh in, Person A decides it isn't worth the trouble to suggest things if people are going to critique it, and Person B gets blamed for speaking up.

Persons A and B were a little (very?) condescending with their posts to each other, and then a bunch of other people started saying that Person B was a big muscly meanie, and it all snowballed, with everyone getting more and more defensive.

Just quit it! We are all here to learn and to share. If you have something that works for you, please tell us about it!  If you read someone else's routine and see a flaw/hole/better way to do it/can adapt it for the average level of the forum members, please tell us about it!  This is all about learning - I don't think that there is any benefit to only hearing about one routine. Personally, I saw the original post, and said "way too hard, no way could I handle that - sadly, my ass will continue to unimpress."  Again, personally - I was glad that someone spoke up and said that doing that whole routine was not necessarily the one way to improve my rear.  It gave me hope! Because I'm not going to do 700 squats. I'm just not. With weights or without.

Everyone could have been nicer on this thread (and the people criticizing others for being critical... I think I blame you the most). So just quit it. Because some people have really good information (whether it is a new routine or a critique of a posted routine), and they aren't going to share that knowledge if they are informed that they are stupid morons. I want to know if someone's suggestion is worth following.  And I want to know if my suggestions are bullsh*t.  So please tell me - help me learn.  And Be Fricken Nice To Each Other.

There is my rant. Thanks for listening.

lol...see you know absolutely nothing about Kyokushin...WE DO NOT PUNCH TO THE FACE...NOW let me see you knock someone out with on blow...not going to happen...you better be fast, and EVERY hit is a HARD one.  immagine unlimited flurries for 3 minutes non stop, and if you catch  a brazilian kick to the face it's lights out.  not being able to punch to the face makes you use all you other skills that much more...I even told one kid he could fight me and I wouldn't punch to the face, and he could, but my footwork was just superior to his, and he couldn't get a hit...I just took him out with simple, but hard kicks to his shins, and legs.  I'm a practical fighter, and I study my opponents moves before I engage.  I'm not really into ground work either...I think it sucks, but it could be necessary in a street fight someday so learning it could be an option.

Wink

I distrust your sarcastic smilie... And the greatest thread ever was about calories in lip gloss.

And I'm sorry for ruining the fun, but I was actually getting worried that both Potter and FloggingSully would stop posting what they know about fitness, and I've seen posts from BOTH of them that were really valuable for me.
