peoples reaction

i was just wondering, what reactions you have got from people you know but dont see that offen, i find i get 2 reactions,

1) they pretend they havent seen how much weight i have lost, and act like im not there, trying not to talk to me, or even look at me, and go on about them selfs, and dont listen to what im saying, talk over me things like that.

2) they gasp very loudly pull horrible faces, and say omg what has happened to you, you look awful, you look ill girl, go eat something for god sake.

both of these reactions hurt like hell, i wouldnt dream of saying to them omg what have you been doing you are so fat now, how much weight ave you put on, you need to eat less and put them biscuits down, wonder what goes through their minds.

I mostly got a lot of 'weird' looks but now that I'm back at school and have gained about 15 pounds since I left I'm getting "wow you look so much healthier" comments from those same people. Best thing to do though is focus on how YOU FEEL not what others think.

When I went from 130 to 115 I got a ton of negative comments, from my (step) grandmother in particular. She would make comments like "what are you eating?" and everytime I would see her she would comment on how "skinny" I looked but it wasn't a compliment. She said it with an edge of disgust in her voice. Then she would always give me lectures on how to eat healthy!!! Drove me crazy because i already knew what she was telling me and she made a point to talk about it everyday. Now that I am back to the 130 range (nasty story) she tells me about how gaunt and bascially nasty I looked back then. Even though it bothers me I felt good when I was 115 so I say f**k what she thinks. This is my body and my life. My mom on the otherhand didn't verbally react to my weight loss but instead lost a lot of weight herself as if it were a competition. Nonethess has created some hostility between us. In the end just do it for yourself. It is unfortunate that criticism comes from ones we love and love us but thats life.

xmasbaby, I hear ya on the anorexia comments. I lost over 40 lbs and am now 126...a very healthy weight for my 5'4" frame. And yet, when I went to go visit some of my old college roomates, all I got was "eat something" "you look sick" blah blah blah. I tried to explain that my weight and BMI were 100% normal and that I had just been to the doctor who had commended me on my weight loss. I know it sucks to say this...but sometimes people are just jealous and don't like to see other people accomplish things they can't i.e. lose weight. I remember when I was heavier and one of my close friends dropped a ton of weight, I would partcipate in the eating disorder speculation too...because I was jealous that she lost all this weight and I couldn't! Now of course, I feel horrible that I participated in commentary that took away from her tremendous accomplishment. Do NOT let these comments get to you. All that matters is that you are healthy and feel good.
