HELLO!!
This Challenge is only for COMMITTED CC users that are determined to achieve their weight loss goals!
Weigh ins will be on Mondays, we will start Monday October 13th with our starting weight and go 10 weeks through Monday December 22nd to work towards losing 10% of our current body weight. There will also be 2 bonus weigh ins one after Christmas (Dec. 29th) and one after the New Year (Jan. 5th)! To help keep our Holiday dieting in check!

Challenge rules:
1. If you miss the FIRST weigh in you will be taken out of the challenge and your spot will be offered to someone else! If you miss 2 consecutive weigh ins with out reporting anything you will be taken out of the challenge!
2. Add all other challenge members to your friends list! This way you can see all journal posts and I also encourage to comment on journal posts for extra motivation and to keep YOU on track!
3. You must report your weight no matter what... If you have a bad week I would still like you to post your weight! If you have a bad week It is fine but in order for you to keep on track you should be accountable for your stumbles here and there!
4.I encourage everyone to check this thread everyday and to post anything and everything that you want! Weight loss, fun facts, interesting stories, anything to help us get to know each other better!
Each participant that reaches their 10% goals will receive a badge to put up in their gallery for the achievement!

I'm losing weight because I want to look good and be more healthy. I'm 27 and I figure its better to lose it now, than have some of the health issues that others in my family have because of being over weight in their 40's and 50's. I was down to 175 last August after doing a boot camp and diet, but I gained it all back plus 3 pounds within a year :( So this is my second time trying to seriously lose weight, and I am hoping that I can make a real go of it this time!

I am losing weight for a number of reasons! #1 My daughter I want to be a healthy mom and for her to have someone to look up to and not be embarrassed by and also to teach her good eating habits as she grows up! #2 Vanity! Yes I want to look good naked! lol I want to be able to wear cute clothes and not be afraid to try things on! #3 Just to be healthy! And never have an excuse to be overweight again, If I know how to get there I know how to stay there!
How did I get here? Well I have been a little over weight my whole life, well technically in the healthy range but still not skinny enough to strut around in a bikini! After I quit playing sports(after my first 2 years of college) I packed on about 20 pounds to 170 then I got into a relationship where I got "comfortable" and gained another 24 to 194... then I got pregnant and gained 21 lbs. up to 215! I had my daughter April 24th 2008 and decided it was time for a change so after I was done breast feeding I was down to 186 by July 18th 2008, then I found CC and I have lost just about 29 lbs.! I have about 21 to go and I can't wait for that day to come! I hope to reach it by January 9th 2009, which would be 2 lbs.per week since I started which I know is difficult but I have high hopes!

I am loosing weight for a few reasons. Partially its because I am seeing how my mother's obesity is negatively affecting her now, and knowing the health complications that run in my family, and how less likely I am to get them if I get and keep my weight under control. The other reason, is I saw a picture of myself at a party, and I did not like what I saw at 215 pounds. So I decided to do something about it. This is the first time that I have ever changed my body enough to go down a pants size, well 2, and its going to stay off. I am not sure about where I am going to stop loosing weight, I am mainly taking it as a I will see when I get there. This journey is more getting healthy and seeing my energy skyrocket (which it has) then to be a certain weight or size, the weightloss is just a nice benefit.

Why am I losing weight? Used to be for health, now its pure vanity
How did I get to my weight now/dieting history? Got down to 150 or so eating really healthy and exercising, developed an ED and got down to 129, gained to 145 recovering, and now losing healthfully again.

I am losing weight so I can be a healthy example for my daughter before she knows I even had a weight problem. She is 2. I want to be thin! I can't be a young mom but I can be the fit and healthy mom. I really love to shop when I look good in things. I know vanity isn't a good reason but I don't care. When I have maintained for at least a year I want to have the girls reconstructed and a mommy tuck! Look out hubby here I come.
I was a yo yo dieter who always managed to stay kinda in check untill we decided to try to have a baby. I stopped all diets and just got fatter and fatter. After two plus years of gaining weight we ended up haveing IVF. I had a high risk pregnancy and gained a bunch of weight and ended up on bed rest for the last 6 weeks. I still ate very well! I had a C-section and a healthy 9.5lb baby girl. I then lost back down to 176 and thought I looked good. Around the first of the year I decided I was still fat (I saw pictures)
I maintained that until February. Then on the 13th I joined CC. I have since lost 47 lbs. I actually do not have 10% left to lose. But these last 10 pounds are a struggle for me every day. I also want to have the continued support while I maintain so I do go to crazy and gain any back.
I am thrilled to have a group to chat with regularly. I'm a SAHM and spend too much time on the computer but it is my "escape" from my little pita.

I've only been a member of CalorieCount for about a month, and have already seen a drop of 7lbs (from 135). I'm losing weight partially because I hated how round my face was looking in pictures, and how poorly my jeans were fitting me, and partially as a challenge to myself- to see if I CAN maintain a healthier lifestyle. I've never really watched my caloric intake- my metabolism is pretty naturally fast, and I'm pretty sure that I used to routinely eat around 3500cals/day with minimal exercise. Looking back, and now counting my calories every day, I'm repulsed by the lifestyle I used to live. I started working out hard well before I started counting calories- I've never been one for diets. I really want to stick to my new, healthier eating habits.
However, I've found that I keep impeding my daily goals by a tendency to binge at night and when I'm out of town (which is frequently). I'm hoping having some competition and support from others can keep me on track! I know I don't have a huge amount to lose, and it's not really 10% of my body weight- but I'd love the extra support!

Why you are losing weight?
I bought a gorgeous short dress to wear at Christmas, and it looks hideous on me right now! I have really disproportionately fat thighs/trunk area and would really love to have a defined waist, as well as look good in shorts/miniskirts. I also have a pile of really nice "skinny clothes" that don't fit anymore/just makes me look like a person squeezing into clothes that are too small. :(
How you got to your weight now?
I actually lost a lot of weight (~10lb) by walking around the streets of various cities in Asia over the summer. The weather there is HOT HOT HOT, and I was on vacation so I walked/bussed everywhere. Extra walking because I went crazy shopping & got lost so much. With all the shopping and only so many days on the vaction, I also actually forgot to eat lunch on many days, operating purely on breakfast... not the healthiest I know, but it was a nice surprise when I came back from vacation, and my smallest pants actually zippered up (?!)
Your dieting history?
On & off really. Sometimes I eat really healthy, then once I introduce the "bad" foods back in I go nuts and I just can't do the moderation thing anymore! Especially if I'm just sitting in front of the computer most of the day. My weakness is a sweet tooth. I just can't help my desserts.... but I am determined to change! Even if I must eat the dessert, I'll just have a few little bites.. no more. Must practice willpower.
WE CAN DO IT! By xmas, we'll all be hot'n'sexy and wish it were summer so we can flaunt in bikinis.
horsinaround - forgot to say that I share the same problem of binging at night! some nights I can eat so fast & so much that its just really, really scary... (cake, bread, pie, cookies, chocolates etc) & usually I'm not even hungry; just looking for a distraction. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this... issue. we can combat it! I now try to drink tons of water to stay full, and nibble on almonds/fruits when i HAVE to. but really slowly... making it last!

Hi everyone! I have been a CC member for years but only recently started visiting the site, so I guess it's time I stuck my neck out and accepted a challenge! I'm hoping this will be the boost I need. Like a couple of other members, I'm not really trying to lose 10% of my weight, but hey, if I did I'd be pretty happy! Not very likely though lol.
My highest weight was when I was 17. When I realised how heavy I felt, I became anorexic. This lasted a few years and took me down to my lowest weight of 66 lbs. Not a happy place to be. I am now recovered but I still struggle with body image sometimes... This is why I think losing 10 lbs will make me look better and feel better about myself, which I guess is what we are all looking for here! Going to do it the healthy way this time.
I am a student and on top of this my boyfriend, who I live with, is a chef. I guess that's why I put those pounds on in the first place... Just looking to get back to my happy weight of 130-135 lbs. I also struggle with binge/restrict cycles.

I'm losing weight simply because I think I should ... for all the normal reasons. I also have my 10-year high school reunion next summer and don't want to be that guy .. you know, the jock that got really fat after high school. I'm also losing because I think my bad habits were wearing off on my wife as she gained quite a bit of weight since meeting me and well, I'm the cook in our family, so I have to accept some of the blame.
I started to gain weight when I went to college. I gained the freshman 15 and then the sophomore 15 and then I plateaud for a few years. This was due mostly to the fact that I was no longer playing sports. When I settled down and did the wife and kids thing, I slowly gained another 30 lbs. over time due mostly to huge portions, eating when I'm bored, and having little to no physical activity (I have a desk job).
That's when I started on CC at the beginning of this summer and the weight started dropping rapidly. I'm now on a bit of a plateau, so the challenge really begins now. I know I shouldn't have expected this to be easy. If it were, it wouldn't be that great of an accomplishment. So, I'm all in and glad to be aboard.
I just noticed that another 10% by Halloween veteran has started another challenge too. Go to: http://caloriecount.about.com/percent-new-g42 2 to see how she took it to another level by creating a "group" here on CC. It may not be a bad idea to go the same route. I don't think the "group" feature existed when 10% by Halloween started.

I joined CC on September 2007 at 178 and managed to drop about 7 lbs but I lost interest and did not find my way back until June 26th of this year at 173 lbs... Since then I have changed my poor eating habits for healthier ones and added daily exercise as well. So far I have lost a little over 18 lbs and am looking forward to losing an additional 20 to reach my initial goal by Christmas..

Hi I'm Erin. I'm losing weight because I got a wii fit this summer and when I got on it and saw I was obese I realized how out of control my weight had gotten! I'd just like to get healthy and feel good about my body again. I've dieted off and on all my life, never really sticking to anything. In fact I joined CC over a year ago and used it for about 2 weeks in Sept 07 and two weeks in Jan 08 but never really stuck with it. Well this time I've been at it again since mid-July and I'm not going to stop until I'm healthy and know how to stay that way!

I started CC January 1 2008 at 177 lbs. In 5 months I managed to get all the way down to 158 lbs! I looked very good and was very proud of my results, but I've fallen off the bandwagon over the summer (stressful job, big family issue). I wanted to lose the weight initially because I saw a picture of myself in a party and I did not like what I saw at all. I packed on the pounds slowly through highschool and college, and just didn't like how I looked. I was also beginning to pack on the weight in places that I never got fat in (my stomach and my arms!). Another motivation for me is a trip to Brazil that I will be taking in January. I want to look better in my bathing suit! ![]()
