10% by Christmas Challenge (CLOSED)
HELLO!!
This Challenge is only for COMMITTED CC users that are determined to achieve their weight loss goals!
Weigh ins will be on Mondays, we will start Monday October 13th with our starting weight and go 10 weeks through Monday December 22nd to work towards losing 10% of our current body weight. There will also be 2 bonus weigh ins one after Christmas (Dec. 29th) and one after the New Year (Jan. 5th)! To help keep our Holiday dieting in check!

Challenge rules:
1. If you miss the FIRST weigh in you will be taken out of the challenge and your spot will be offered to someone else! If you miss 2 consecutive weigh ins with out reporting anything you will be taken out of the challenge!
2. Add all other challenge members to your friends list! This way you can see all journal posts and I also encourage to comment on journal posts for extra motivation and to keep YOU on track!
3. You must report your weight no matter what... If you have a bad week I would still like you to post your weight! If you have a bad week It is fine but in order for you to keep on track you should be accountable for your stumbles here and there!
4.I encourage everyone to check this thread everyday and to post anything and everything that you want! Weight loss, fun facts, interesting stories, anything to help us get to know each other better!
Each participant that reaches their 10% goals will receive a badge to put up in their gallery for the achievement!

I have one more stinking pound to go to hit "goal". I'm so ready to start maintenance. 120- 125 is more like it, my body is fighting this 120 crap. Sorry for the nag.
I hope everyone else is doing well. I got most of my x-mas presents bought, and I sent off the long distance ones in plenty of time before Christmas. Normally I wait till the last minute and it cost as much to send them as it does to buy them. I only have a few more people to buy for and I'm done.

Yay!!! Almost there. And I didn't do the best this weekend either. So, I was rather surprised.
Leanne- That's cool your almost done Christmas shopping. I am too, but mostly because we are only buying for the two kids. Just not enough funds this year to really do anything else.

Sorry for missing last week's weigh in.. it was a busy week but I'm back home now and back on track! So I haven't been counting calories for 3 weeks but tried to eat reasonably.

So gained half a pound in 3 weeks of somewhat reckless eating and quite a bit of drinking.. not bad! But i'm not sure if I can reach 10% by Christmas now. Good thing for those bonus weeks! I feel motivated again.

OK, all you Cordie fans out there. I hate to disappoint, but I have to report some unsettlingly bad results this week. I seem to have had a little bit of finals-rebound syndrome.

This actually good, I think. I was getting a little complacent and I needed a kick in the pants. Seeing this number this morning was quite a shock, and right away I snapped back into good-girl mode. I packed my lunch and my snack and some gym clothes!
Even though I am nowhere close to my "goal" for this competition (in fact, I'm back up to my goal for the last competition!), I am definitely better off than I would be if I didn't have these weekly check ins. So thanks everybody for keeping healthy living on my mind, even when I can't be perfect. If I stay with this long enough, someday I'll be able to eat well through the stressful times, too. Slow progress is just fine by me.

It looks like a big loss but I have been fluctuating between 149 - 150 for the past week...what's to blame? eating maintenance, little exercise and TOM... OH well!

Not too shabby considering traveling around NZ in the back of a van for 12 days didn't exactly make for healthy eating. But now I'm back home and it's grind time. I have crazy amounts of healthy food options and exercising is so much easier! I won't be losing 10 lbs in a week and a half to make my goal :-) but hopefully things will speed up now that I'm back on track. Great job this week everyone!

I may actually make this 10 percent thing by Christmas. If not, then I will probably be like 1 or 2 percent off. I weighed 125 this morning. That felt so great to see all this darn work paying off. Hope everyone is doing okay and having a good week!

As far as I'm concerned I'm done! Merry Christmas, and on to maintenance. When I started all of this I wanted to be 125. Now I want that to be my high weight. Thank you to everyone who has helped me stay focused.
We can all reach our goals. If it doesn't happen by Christmas (mine was supposed to happen before Halloween) The try by Valentines or Easter or whatever just know it is a lifelong commitment that will have lots of ups and downs.

No big deal. I have been eating maintenance for a few days now and eating late at night again. I was actually expecting more. Honestly, I need a break. So, I have decided to eat maintenance until the new year and then work to lose those last 10 pounds. I am happy for now. But was feeling slightly miserable not getting to eat goodies with the family. And I just now started feeling this way so that is why I decided to take a break. I will certainly be counting calories and exercising. Just not having the huge deficit like I have been. I will still be here to post my weight for Christmas and New Years. Motivation not to gain anything back.
I have really enjoyed this challenge and getting to know everyone. Thank you Oakmommy for putting it together.And thanks to everyone who participated and kept everyone motivated.
And leanne- Congratulations on reaching your goal weight. You are a real inspiration to everyone. You rock!!!

Total loss in this challenge: 10.1. So it's not 10%.. but that's ok, I am not done yet! Just have to set myself a new goal and try to survive these darn holidays.

I've lost 7.2 lbs since the beginning of this challenge.. Not the 10% I was hoping for at all but it's a loss nevertheless! I know there are still 2 more optional weigh-ins which I would like to participate in and hope to see everyone who is still in the challenge join in as well!

I've lost a total of about 5 lbs since the beginning of this challenge, which I'm very happy with since losing weight has always been really difficult for me. I hope everyone has a great holiday season and keep up all the great work!

Although I did not meet my challenge goal, I must reflect on what an amazing year it has been for me on the site.
When I started here on January 1st 2008, I weighed 177. With CC I was able to move from being "slightly overweight" to having a healthy BMI. I still cannot believe that I lost 15 pounds! Most of it fell off in the the early stages, and I've been on this plateau in the lower 60's (for the past couple of months) that doesn't want to budge. I pretty happy at this weight, and although there are some places that I'd like to improve, I'm not going to beat myself up about it. My goal for 2009 is to keep exercising, and eating well. I'm confident that it will all eventually fall into place =)
This will be my last weigh in for this challenge because I will be leaving the country on Friday, and won't have access to a scale. I'll be away for a month, but when I come back to the US, I'll be working hard towards my goals! 2008 was amazing, and I have a feeling that 2009 is going to be even better. We already have the tools, and we know how to use them, so let's put them to good use for the new year.

carlynj21: Sometimes we do need breaks. It is very difficult to not eat what everyone else is having, especially during the holidays. During Thanksgiving, and Christmas time (aka now! lol) I take a lot of breaks from counting calories, an make sure that I exercise a lot, and then give myself permission to eat whatever I want.
leanne: Doesn't it feel good to say "I'm done"! Congrats!!

Wow! I am so sorry I am late everyone! I have been working 10-12 hour shifts everyday for the past 3 weeks! And it really started to wear on me, guess thats what happens when you work for the postal service! Lots of christmas letters!
