Right now I'm not focusing on losing weight or anything, but instead I'm really trying to just eat better, healthier foods. Meaning I'm trying to eat balanced meals, which I haven't tended to do -- I normally am not a big vegetable or protein eater.
So, my question is, what are some recommended percentage intakes in terms of fat, carbs, and protein?

a good balance is:
30% protein (meat, beans, nuts, diary), 40-50% carbonates (preferably whole grain) and 20-30% fat (eg. vegetable oil, fish). Don't forget the minerals and vitamins (A,C,E); and lots of water!
There are several different nutrient ratio combinations on this website and a calculator to find out how much of each nutrient is needed within the boundaries of your daily caloric needs. Hope it helps.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
