what percentage should a person eat?

Quote  |  Reply

I've been wondering since I have seen in the analysis part of CC what percentage of fat, protein, carbs etc I eat daily. What percentage should be in a healthy diet. Like for example I know that you need or should ingest 25 grams of fiber daily......where can I find info on the rest of the information the analysis gives? What percentage of fat, carbs, protein, sodium all that stuff?

I hope my question makes sense Embarassed

Thanks!!

25% protein

25%fat

50%carbs
for weightloss id do more of a 20% fat, 40% carbs, %40 protein ratio. 25/25/50 is standard for weight maintaining though .... so it depends on your goals.

So far I'm losing weight just fine on roughly 50% carbs... I'm not being too neurotic about meeting the exact percentages of protein/fat as long as I'm fairly close to meeting my basic nutritional needs for vitamins etc. I'm TRYING to get 25g fiber a day and enough calcium and vitamin C without too much sodium or cholesterol - but I'm not quite there yet.

I just loaded up my analysis - here's my average for last month:

Fat - 24.2% (1,096 grams)
Protein - 19.2% (1,963 grams)
Carbohydrates - 56.6% (5,779 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%

Daily Calorie Intake - 1,463 cals
Daily Sodium Intake - 2,011 mg
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 189 mg
Daily Fiber Intake - 21 grams

And here's this month so far:

Fat - 27.5% (663 grams)
Protein - 22.1% (1,200 grams)
Carbohydrates - 50.4% (2,739 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0% (10 grams)
Other - 0.0%

Daily Calorie Intake - 1,451 cals
Daily Sodium Intake - 1,875 mg
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 193 mg
Daily Fiber Intake - 22 grams

OK................I did some research and have answered my own question

SODIUM = 2400 mg

CHOLESTEROL = 300 mg

FIBER = 25 g

FAT = 65 mg

PROTEIN = 50 g

CARBS = 300 g

POTASSIUM = 3500 mg

i've compared my daily intake to these and I am well below all of them. As far as 25% 25% 50% of fat, protein and carbs or 20% 40% 40% of fat, protein and carbs; I compared my diet to that and found that I am eating more like 20% 20% 60%..........But all my carbs are coming from fruits and veggies.

Will I still lose weight this way or should I up my protein?

By the way...........thanks for the replies!
