percentages
so i know i've seen this topic posted before, but i looked through a couple pages and couldn't find anything, but here is what my analysis says for today so far..
fat 18% (28 grams)
protein 17.9% (62 grams)
carbohydrates 64% (220 grams)
but my question is if i have 62 grams of protein and only 28 grams of fat, why would my fat percentage be the same or more than my protein. i've been trying to figure out how they're getting the percentages, but any help?
The macronutrients have varying energy to weight ratio. Carbs and Protein are equivalent to 4 cal/g, whereas fat is closer to 9 cal/g/.
Ok, so just so I understand...
The %ages on the nutrition report relate to the % of calories you are getting from the fat/protein/carbs?
So when you are aiming for 20%-30% protein that's 20%-30% protein in terms of calories rather than by volume?
Or am I completely confused?
Thanks!
