I think my perception of myself is messed up...

Quote  |  Reply

Somedays I will look into the mirror and see a slightly chubby, but okay lookin' gal. Other days I'll see a fat slob. Sometimes when I'm feeling particularly good about myself something will happen to make me think that I've distorted the  perception of myself. Like maybe what I see in the mirror isn't what I actually look like? I've heard of people doing this before.

SO, I need some honest opinions from a neutral party (because honestly, friends and family are bias). How much weight would you say I need to lose? (There is a picture of myself in my gallery, I can't seem to post one in this message.)

Oh, hell, luv, I can't even be pressed to think of you as "chubby"...

I think you look great!

Seriously. I have nothing to gain by lying to you, right?

Keep up the good work, focus on staying healthy, and KNOW you're cute as all get out!

You look georgeous to me. Pull your hair down, let it flow around your neck, let us see your beautiful eyes. Maybe not hide your body as much under t-shirts...wear something more fitted, (but not so  far as to be a hoochie momma.) The weight on you looks fine. I would be showing off that body with some slinky red dresses or something like you are going dancing. You have a nice figure. Play up and accentuate your already very feminine assets with some sassy clothing and accessories. Wear some sassy high heels. Feel your beauty. Flaunt it. You have it going on sista.

I think I found another picture. Let's see if it works. It's more flattering I think, but who knows how much weight that holds, lol.

wow your really cute and you have hot legs, work it mama!! Your cute ....and I'm the type of person that tells the truth, i like to be honest ;O)

Thanks everyone. It's hard to believe, but thanks. It helps. :)

Dawn, this picture was taken on a bad day, lol. I usually wear my hair down (curly or straight) but I was just going to class today so I didn't feel like messing with it. Hence the ponytail and glasses! :)

I don't think anyone should tell you what weight is right for you.  I agree with dawnmaureen..  you clearly have an hourglass figure so you carry your weight well.  If you are exercising and eating right, you will eventually even out to the ideal weight for YOUR body.

Thank you everyone for your honestly. :)

twenty pounds, but depends. how tall are you?

20 pounds!?! are you serious?

I was scared to click on your pic at first and thought about just leaving because I was like "I don't want to be the mean, honest one"

But here's my mean/honest opinion. You're weight looks exceptionall normal. You're no stick, but anyone who thinks you're fat is kidding themselves. You have an hourglass shape, which means you're never going to look like the boyish ED model, personally I think that's a good thing. Because of what looks like a good waist to hip ratio you're capable of carrying a higher BMI while still being completely healthy. If you're at all worried about feeling 'chubby' (which you're not), I'd recommend some strength training for tone, because you're weight looks fine.

And I'm completely jealous of your legs.

Wow. Thanks everyone. ...then I guess I should lower my goal of losing 50 pounds? Lol! I always knew I'd never be one of those stick thin mall girls (and I didn't want to be, where are their curves!?) but I thought I needed to lose a LOT of weight.

So, maybe I'm not crazy? I did think I carried my weight well (not to brag, seriously).

Wow. I'm really speechless. I truly wasn't looking for compliments (I actually don't like when people fish for compliments, it's really annoying) and I was ready for some tough, honest advice! Thanks everyone so much.

Hard to tell, but maybe 15lbs. I agree that strength training might be a good idea, because putting on some muscle would probably make you happier with what you see in the mirror than simply dropping a few pounds.

1. I think you're more of a pear...I'm not sure if it's what you're wearing or what but I definitely see wider hips and more narrow shoulders. I'm a pear and I think it's a really nice body type. I also hold a lot of my weight in my lower stomach, which it appears you do too, and my legs get toned really easily. They're not slim, but they're fit and look nice in shorts - just like yours. Your arms look thin and you don't look like you hold a lot of weight in your chest (not saying you're small chested, just that a lot of weight doesn't hang in your upper arms or anything).

2. I think you need to lose 20-30 pounds, that'll slim down your stomach and your face. You do hold your weight well but I think that just tells you that losing some weight will have a big impact. I think 50 pounds is a little too ambitious but I think it's clear that you need to lose some weight. I'm not trying to be mean, just realistic.

Also I think you could hold your weight even better with some more flattering clothes :) But I know that's not the point of the thread!

Thanks again. I definitely know I'm a pear, and I'm not ashamed! I think I'll just get rid of this thing called 'goal weight' and stop losing when it's right for me.

Flattering clothes? As in? I know that's not the point, but now you have me curious? I'm a college student and we call kind of dress like slobs, lol. I wear t-shirts because they're comfortable and I don't think I could pull off something more fitted right now. Just this summer I've started wearing shorts. Bad idea? I've never been confident enough to, I guess, show off my legs before.

I don't have anywhere nice to go to wear a sassy red dress and heels like another poster mentioned.

I'd love to be able wear summer dresses by the end of the summer, though. The flowy, casual kind.
