Perfect male body?

Quote  |  Reply
Well, with the changing way men are shown in ads and media (compared to even 20 years ago), I'm curious what everyones opinion of the perfect male body is.

Is it the huge weightlifter? The skinny hairless model? The toned, but not muscular male? Or maybe the undefined sophisticated man? Or is it like the bodies of greek statues?

So, find a picture of what you think the ideal male body is and post it here! I think it would be interesting to see what people think (and be able to actually look at examples).

All I know is that when I was heavy, I wasn't comfortable with the way I looked.

Then again, my perception of what I actually look like now is totally out of whack. I think I look better now, but some people want me to become fat again.

i'm weird...i totally have a thing for thin tall boys
nobody's mentioned a david beckham or jake gyllenhall or matthew mcconnahhhhhhey.  my girlfriend is into those guys.... but it may not be based on looks alone... i don't know
Personally, I think Dextor Jackson has the perfect male body.

Brad Pitt in the Fight Club era is a close second.

That said, I'm pretty content with my own body.  In the fall/winter, I loose some of my sharpness in an effort to lift a lot heavier and add muscle mass, but in the summer I wouldn't trade my body with anyone.

Oddly enough, my last couple girlfriends liked the winter look better.  :O
It's bizarre how some women actually prefer a bigger or even chubbier guy.  Sometimes it's kinda sweet, but I found it to be aggravating.

There's a more sensual aspect to a guy who is on the soft side of his weight training rather than the super lean. That's my thought anyways. I enjoy both though. Wink

Chriswain, I feel the same about my body too. I love my summer body and in the winter I let go a little. Haha!

I'm totally clueless to the whole "summer body/look" "winter body/look" mentioned by Chris and shill, but that may be becuase I am from Miami...we dont have winter down here! You have to keep the summer body all year round...
I gotcha shill.

Definitely less veins to contend with in the winter.  I have never liked the vascular look in a girl, so I can't blame girls for not liking it on a guy.
LOL @ #65... why do you find it aggravating?

I'd rather be with a guy who is a little larger just because I think I'd cry if he could fit into my jeans, or if they were too big for him. No skinny emo guys for me.
yalcekim, think of it as on-season / off-season.

Bodybuilders are typically in one of two nutritional phases of training: bulking or cutting.

If you're bulking, you're simply taking in more calories than you burn, with a higher percentage of carbohydrates for energy.  This gives your body the extra material it needs to build muscle and the energy to lift heavy weights.

In a cutting phase, you're just taking off any excess fat you may have accrued while bulking.  Lower calories, more cardio, lower weights.

You're on point with the weather thing.  There's just no opportunity for me to be running around in the winter with my shirt off here in PA, so I typically bulk Sept through Feb, cut that down March and April, and maintain for the rest of the summer.  I try to put on five pounds of muscle a year, and this is the best way I've found to do it.

In my case, the change in my body isn't drastic.  I'll be less vascular in shoulders/stomach/legs in the winter, but someone who wasn't looking closely wouldn't notice much of a difference.

I'm officially clued-in...thanks Chris!

Guess its pretty obvious I'm not a body builder...haha

Am I the only one that thinks the bulked, veiny look is scary?

I don't mean to be rude, but I think I'd be a bit intimidated if a guy's bicep is bigger than my head.... XP

perfect male body... my boyfriend! Skinny and tall with nicely defined arms.. argh too gorgeous. I agree that bulky muscly legs, chest etc just do not do it for me.
the truth is I am preety superficial when it comes to boys but still the sexiest thing really is what is inside his head...he can look like john malcowitch and still get all the chicks......
I do NOT like the skinny, hairless (model) boys.  They look like boys instead of men....and I do NOT care for the men who look like they are on steroids either.

I tend to go middle of the road...not too big, not too small, etc.
babyd - I find it aggravating because I don't want a girl who likes that I'm so much bigger than her that it makes her feel small.

I don't care for that bug-eyed Verizon mascot emo look either, but that's still the body type I covet.
Original Post by shill:

For me that doesn't exist. The way a man cares for his own body type is what can make him sexy. There is no perfect cutout in my opinion. Wink

I totally agree with this! My physical attraction really depends on the personality. A 'good-looking guy' can immediately transform if his actions are ugly.

Okay, if I could look like anyone, I would want to look like Chris Evans, from the Fantastic Four films.

But really, he is a perfect example of what I'm talking about with having goals that are realistic.  I could hit the gym daily and watch my diet and get down to 7% body fat, and my body would NEVER look like his.  I don't have those narrow hip bones and ideally proportioned frame, not to mention the pretty face.  It's really unfair how some people win so big in the genetic lottery!  I want to look the best I can, but there is no way in hell I will ever look like that.  But that's okay, when I reach my goal weight, I'll still be in much better shape than 90% of the guys my age (38) and there's nothing wrong with that.  Things could have been worse, I could've been born with a mug like Steve Buscemi, or worse, CARROT TOP!  Yell

I'm not sure that Carrot Top is a man; I think that he's some strange species of mold that grew in the corner of a seedy comedy club.
Carrot Top actually took up bodybuilding awhile ago, which serves to make him look even creepier.  He must have had some sort of plastic surgery on his face...it looks distorted and weird now.  I remember seeing his standup on TV back in '93 and his act was funny in a silly sort of way...he'd pull his hair into two pigtails and shriek, "Look, it's Wendy!  Wendy from the fast food restaurant!"  I remember one of his "inventions" was a winter coat for hitchhikers...a parka with a fake additional arm added on with the thumb pointed up.
