Period ? (after breastfeeding)

My son just turned 5 months old this month on the 2nd.  I never had regular periods before i had him.  I had only one period on my own before i found out i was pregnant with him in 2007.  I have hypothyroidism and PCOS too.  So they said i didn't ovulate but i got pregnant with him with no fertility meds totally a miracle baby!! Well i was breastfeeding him up until the end of March and then he totally refused my breast.  We had to supplement him with formula because he wasn't gaining any weight at first so i guess he got used to the bottle being easier to satisfy him and i gave up on pumping i guess (didn't even get that much pumping either) well just last night i went pee and wiped and the tissue was pink like maybe i was going to start my period well its only when i wipe that i get the pink on the toliet paper.  Its not on myunderwear.  So is this my 1st period after having him?? I dont know to count it or not.  Any help with this would be appreciated.  My hubby thinks its just my hormones balancing after stopping breastfeeding etc..... what do you think?

I don't know if what you are having is a period or not. I could be but it could an anovulatory cycle before you start actually ovulating.  In any case if you don't want to become pregnant  you want to look into birth control. Since you have PCOS, I would monitor that as well. I had a friend with that particular condition and she would spot for several weeks and then it would stop for a while and then come back. 

I got my period back 12 weeks post partum even though I was exclusively breastfeeding.  Most of my friends how ever got theirs back after a year or more of breast feeding.

My husband had a vasectomy so i can't get pregnant anymore.  We have 3 kids and we are done having kids.  some of my friends on one of the newsgroups i go to didn't have their periods til about a year too after stopping breastfeeding.  I am thinking it may be my hormones, i am due for my yearly pap smear i may just bring it up to my ob/gyn at that visit.  Thanks.

i have two kids and i didn't have a period while breastfeeding they started back up two months after i stop. the first month i had the same spotting it just your body trying to get back to normal and a sign that you will probably start in the next month. i wouldn't worry at all.

on a side bar depending on you sex life there sometime can be a little pink, specially after having a baby.

I feel jipped. I'm exclusivly breastfeeding and still got my period back at 6 weeks!! WTH?!

It sounds like your body is preparing to start ovulating again so be prepared for aunt flow to return!!
