I have my period and I cant resist my cravings!

Does anyone else find it harder to resist your cravings during that time of the month?

I most certainly do.....  I am only up to 1800 cals today, (burned off 360 from cardio) so burned 2050 cals today.... but not the 500 deficit I wanted.

OMG yes! Periods totally suck. I always always always want smores and peanut butter. hahaha

I suppose I'm lucky? I'm on my period and haven't TRIED to resist my cravings. I had a peanut and sesame Kind bar with chocolate on it (tastes like a snickers with honey, but all natural and way more nuts!) AND a giant hunk of white cheddar. I'm still at about 1400 cals. And I worked a somewhat physical job for 7 hours, plus lifted weights! So maybe I should eat more!

If it makes you feel any better, multiple resources cite that females burn an average of 200-300 calories more than normal during their menses.

This probably sounds very insensitive, but I feel like using my period as an excuse to give in is just copping out.  If I am hungry, I try not to relate it to anything except my intake for the day and the amount of fiber or protein i did (or did not) eat.

It keeps me from breaking my daily count if I think about it like that.

But I realize there might actually be a physiological basis for the hunger and cravings, so there is that.  I just don't personally want to believe in it.

I, too, am waiting the arrival of my monthly gift.  I was craving a filet so much last night.  With mash and chocolate melt cake, of course!  I would have settled for the filet and my hubby's yummy green beans, though.  I even asked him to bring one home, but I was crashed when he called back.  I think I need the iron around that time because I crave red meat.  The chocolate I don't have a nutritional excuse for, but it really does taste better every 28 days!  Let me tell ya, owning a restaurant is a blessing and a curse on so many levels :)

I am always craving for certain food too during period! I find myself have a bigger appetite during the time of the month too, snacking at late nights and tea time when I am nearing my period. On normal days. I only survive on breakfast, lunch and dinner.

i've got mine too! the scale said I gained 3 pounds in one day (water weight, but still messes with your head), and i can't control my cravings at all. it's weird though because i've trained myself to see sweets as the devil (i've had a reese's in my bag for a day now and haven't touched it) so i can resist those like a machine but things like cereal or tortilla chips? no way. its all over!

you know what...it happens.  i say, don't beat yourelf up over it.  if you can't reach your 500 deficit, its not that big of a deal in the long run.  think positive.  i've also read you burn extra when you're menstruating, so that should be good news.  =)  positive thoughts are always better than negative when it comes to eating right.  give yourself a treat.  if you allow yourself to truly enjoy it, it'll most likely satisfy you more, and your cravings will subside.

I get all my symptoms a week or two before I start.  I start off with back pains, then I get a horrible appetite and want to gnaw off my own hand, then I get emotional and then I get mild cramps all the while bloating up like a fish.  Once I start my period I feel so much better.. but then have to deal with the nastiness about that! haha

Wow, that means I actually only have ONE decent week per month. WTH?

edit: And I'm 36 and don't think I'll have any more children so why am I going thru this? I need a hysterectomy!
