Where did my period go??
Ok so im 5ft2 currently 119lb's (about 18% body fat) with a normal healthy BMi and eating 2500- 3,000 cals a day as planned part of a planned Bulk to gain muscle
I'm in the gym 5 days a week but only for 30- 45mins per day lifting weights. The only cardio i do is once a week for 20minutes just to keep my general fitness up.
However last month my period didn't come, and it hasn't come this month either.
I have a personal trainer who works out my diet and exercise and im don't belive im undereating / over exercises nor am i a low body fat/weight or any of the other normal typical symptom's of a woman with a missing period in fact im bang smack in the middle of all normal healthy ranges.
My trainer sent me to the docter's just to make sure i was ok, and the doctor , blood work, blood pressure, heart rate etc all determined i am in great heath infact the docter said i was the healthiest person he'd seen in his surgery in months and told me not to worry about it.
Now as much as i don't mind not having a period, i can't seem to settle, it just doens't seem normal to me. Should i just stick it out and hope it turn's up eventually or should i go back and bug my docter some more??
Have you started any new medications lately, or take one that might cause a loss of period? And do you get enough fats in your diet?
I haven't had my period in months. I got a blood test done and my doctor (ob/gyn) said that I lost a bit of body fat (thanks to weight lifting and eating right) and that caused my estrogen levels to drop, which caused Aunt Flo to stop coming to visit. Now I have to go see an endocrinologist to see what the hell's going on, and I went back on birth control pills. Today's my last day before placebos and I certainly feel like Aunt Flo's going to stop by any day now, so we'll see!!
However, if your blood test is normal, I dunno what to tell ya!
nope no medication and the only supliments i take are protien powder and "fish oil" caps. My diet is pretty balanced, good variety including fats and carbs. I just can't see any logical reason for it.
ive seen this happen a lot. Your body has a certain amount of fat it "likes" to have. Women are supposed to have fat around their mid section for pregnancy. So whenever a woman loses too much fat, even if it is within the normal limit, they can lose their periods. Some women are just not meant to have six pack abs, or zero fat all around.
It sucks but its like that. Ive seen girls who are within normal weight ranges, have a good amount of fat, but still lose their periods, because they did lose some fat that the body wasnt willing to let go. Specialy if you've been your entire life with that fat amount adn suddenly it changes.
My best bet is your body fat.
makes no sense, but the human body is a very delicate thing. If one thing doesnt feel right all the rest goes down the drain as well.
gl i hope its only a slight hormonal imbalance that you can fix.
also check for illnesses like PCOS, just in case. It caught me by surprise, so its always good to just make sure.
Even healthy women who exercise a lot will lose their period over time. Very few female athletes have a normal menstrual cycle, because your body is very sensitive - around 20% bodyfat is the tipping point for most women.
I've lost mine too! It's been 8 months now, and nada. Blood tests show nothing wrong, had a scope done to check for cysts or a tumor and all is good down there.
I did an ephedrine/caffeine stack and lost a considerable amount of weight fairly quickly, plus used to work out 5-7 days a week (cardio and weight lifting) and followed a healthy diet. I never had a BMI that was more than barely underweight though, I always thought that to lose your period you had to be really underweight!
i think you should definitely push it. go bug your drs again until they figure it out, because it is extremely unhealthy to lose your period. you might not have problems now, but your risk for osteoporosis increases dramatically, not to mention it could be something much more serious. when my co-worker lost her period, she was borderline underweight, but it dragged out for a little over a year and she ended up with ovarian cyst problems and thyroid problems. the drs told her that it was because everyone has a different healthy weight, and she was a healthy BMI but was too low for her individually.
I agree with bananee here. I think some women just stop getting their periods when their body fat dips below a certain level. I know mine comes and goes. lol, event eh bf now refers to it as my "quarterly" rather than my "monthly" lol! I honestly think it will come back in due time... it's just that my body isn't quite used to the new conditions it's running under and also I change up my routine every 50 days... (mind you I have been working out for about 1 year now and dieting for about 3). Nothing drastic for me either... gradual weight loss.
One thing I have found though that I thought was interesting is the amount of strain you induce when lifitng/cardio training... apparently the "stress" of lifting can be just enough to stop it. sux...
My estrogen levels, pcos, pap, blood, etc all came back like yours: doc said I was like something out of a book I was so perfect even after fasting for 12 hours. He laughed and told me that I was in great shape, my body fat % wasn't too low, and neither is my weight but that it can sometimes just leave & as long as I can get it at least once every 4-6 mos I'm ok.
I have noticed sleep, 1 week off the gym, and a high fat diet brings it about in less than 5 days :). Try it and see if it works
I was working out with my sister, running a few miles five days a week and a few other exercises then both our periods stopped at the same time. She got pregnant but i just.. stopped? It's been 8 months now and still nothing. I eat healthy, same as i always have. i haven't lost or gained weight. i don't take birth control im obviously not pregnant. but my mom said her cousin lost her period for nine months so maybe its ok? im not sure
have you gotten a pregnancy test?
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
