It is the first time I had had my period in over a year and a half and I am so excited! It is so weird because my friend was just complaining about getting her period yesterday and I was thinking "You don't even know how lucky you are." I was thinking that I won't get my period for a long time and that I would definetly need to be on birth control to get it. I actually was kind of starting to give up on eating lots of fats.
I can't even explain how happy I am right now. I was actually crying tears of joy earlier. I feel like my body is at the right weight now after being underweight for so long. I feel like I am actually a woman.
I remember when I was gaining weight to get my period and I would read people's posts on getting their period back. I would feel so jealous and just want to feel what they are feeling. I felt like that would never happen to me. So, to all you that are still trying to get it back don't give up. You will get it back and it will feel amazing. Hang in there!
I do have one question, though. I am scared that after this time it will take a long time for it to come again. I think this because before I had anorexia I only got my period once a year. I just want to get it every month. How long will it take for that to happen?
CONGRATULATIONS!!! *does a happy dance*
Haha, I don't even know you, but you totally just made my day. ![]()
Congrats Sweetheart! Be proud. This is a good sign you are in better health. :) I had actually lost my period for 2 years before getting it back, but was so happy once I eventually did. It's a great feeling..well uh..until the cramps kick in. LMAO! But, it's worth it. :)
Just keep up what you are doing to keep your period returning each month. Eat healthy and don't restrict. Get in plenty of healthy fats, etc. There is a big chance that your period will still be irregular on and off and that's to be expected. (I got mine back in 2007 and there are some months I still miss it due to stress, etc.) but as long as it is coming back it is still a good sign. If you are concerned I would see a Gynecologist just to keep things in perspective. Once again congrats and keep up the great work! :)
Congratulations! Before you instantly get worried about next month, take a bit more time to feel a real sense of accomplishment!
And remind yourself that even if it doesn't show next month that you can use the same perseverance you've used to get to where you are today to keep on track.
It may indeed be random for a while, and may not even be predictably a monthly thing until you are 17 or 18 -- but that's o.k. and not abnormal given what you have been through with anorexia.
And thank you for reminding me to be thankful for my period (which sometimes is not easy to do!!!) Hugs!
High five!
From my personal experience it may be that your period is somewhat erratic and perhaps lighter than it used to be for a little while. Just keep eating healthily, aiming to maintain a healthy weight and getting plenty of good fats, and your body will soon get itself back on an even keel.
I'm really happy for you :)
Congratulations!!!! That is amaazing!! You must be extremely happy! I'm taking special hormones at the moment to try to get my period to come back (haven't had it in a year and 2 months). Hopefully I can celebrate aswel sometime soon!
What weight are you at at this point? BMI/ bodyfat percentage?
Congratulations again!
Thank you for the support everyone.
ellenkegels- I haven't weighed myself in a while but I think I weigh around 120-125 and I am 5 feet 8 inches tall. I think my bmi is 18 point something. I know it is kind of low but I have always been natually thin before I had anorexia.
i dont think bmi has everything to do w it, im at a bmi of 19 or so and dont have it.
aww, congrats ((:
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
