Period? Where are you?
Yo guys. Okay, I've missed my period >< 'm not sexually active,so I know it's not that. It should have come over a week ago, and no dice. My friend is having the exact same problem, same day even! (btw, hello if you see this post ^^) I've lost 15lbs now, and I geuss it was about in month that I did it, so this would be the first period of my new weight. I'm 135lbs and 5'2, and 15. I've got a lot of water weight, and I just want it to come!
Any other ways to get it to come other than a high-carb diet w.o exercise? And is this healthy? Or a problem!?
really? Any kind of nuts? THANK YOU!!!!!!! :] :]
That's a relief. ^^ I just had half an ounce of chopped almonds. That should work, right? (btw, they were totally yummy ^^)
Yussh!!!! xD I'm glad, cos I was kinda freaking out. :] THANK YOUUU!
Oh I'm in the same situation..Now it's 7 months since I've not had my periods! But from today i've started to eat little bit more fat, more food.Doctors told me that i've got to gain 2-3 kilos, in case to get them back. So I'm doing that. I'm 47-48 kilos and now I've got to become 50-51 kilos!
Cricky, I hadn't had a period for a year and thought I was into the menopause, but after I lost 20 lbs. Bingo! I wasn't prepared!
Uhg i have to gripe. I have only had my period 2 times since August, but I have now been spotting for an entire MONTH. It is incredibly annoying and I wish it would GO AWAY.
(btw it's not due to weight-loss, I just never get it unless I am on the pill...is there anyone else out there like this?)
Marekat-- at 15 your body is still adjusting to menstruation so I wouldn't be too concerned if you are a bit irregular, esp. with the quick weight loss. Congrats on that btw!
Guys... a tip from the middle east: Drink cinnamon!
A cup of hot milk with maybe 2 tsp ground cinnamon and top it with some nuts. It's yummy & it works for me when my period is just a day or two late. Try it!
OMGG 2 days later and still no dice T_T and even after all that Easter food!!! I guess I should not have gone for that mile run after >.<!!!!
The main problem is all this water weight I've got! IT'S DRIVING ME MAAAD! Anyone got a solution?
If you're 15, maybe your periods are still irregular. Check with your mom - was she irregular as a teen? My periods were always irregular before I lost weight, and they still don't come now even though I'm at a healthy weight. I would give your body awhile to adjust, and not worry too much if you are eating healthily.
For water weight, try a bit a exercise/stretching, see if it works. Drink plenty of water, and take less salt. And then try not to worry about it, I know it's easier said than done, but it will go away in a day or two.
First of all, it is very normal to have some irregularity when you've recently started menstruating. Secondly, if you are exercising too much or eating too little, it can cause your body to postpone menstruation. Thirdly, it is also normal for things like travel and extra stress to affect your period. What happens is that if your body is under abnormal stress (either physical--like from exercising too much or not getting enough fat, or emotional--like a big stressful test at school or something), it will delay ovulation (that's when the egg is released from the ovaries) until you are less stressed out. Your period will come like 12-18 days after ovulation. SO, have you been under any extra stress lately? Maybe the solution is just to try to relax and not worry about it. Make sure you're eating enough, don't overdo the exercise (I doubt a mile run will be a problem though), and just sit back and wait a bit. But fretting about it might make it take longer!
T_T I eat anywhere from 1100 to 1500 a day and do quite a few exercises, and i don't eat like, any salts, but I do have a cookie at lunch or a biscut at dinner most days. :] Is that too much and too little? And my mom didn't have it for 2 years after her first, but I've had it pretty regularly since I was 12 (LAME). So idk...I'm kinda freaking still!
But I'm trying the cinnamon thing, only with tea instead of milk. :] 2nd cup already, it's so good!
Don't worry! Been there, experienced that... actually, still there. I haven't had more than two periods for the whole of 2007, nor since the start of 2008. I try not to stress about it, but to think on the bright side - no cramps to worry about, etc. If it really, really bothers you, speak to a doctor about it, but periods don't come due to many other things like stress or schoolwork. Or even just changing friendships. Stressing and worrying about water retention will just make you freak out for no reason.
Do try and have more than just a cookie or biscuit for a meal... I don't know how big your cookie is though. It's probably better to have a cup of vegetables or fruit instead of a cookie, but it's better to have just a cookie than a cookie -plus- a whole meal.
Here, just take mine. It's come three times in the last thirty days.
Bah, I'll stop being bitter now.
Are you getting enough fat in your diet? Teens need about 30% of their calories to come from fat, according to the Mayo Clinic. Also, your period isn't expected to be regular when you're young, so if this is the first time and it's only a little late, I wouldn't be too worried.
The absolute, no-matter-how-small-you-think-you-are, minimum calorie consumption for females under eighteen is 1500/day, regardless of how sedentary you are. Eating as low as you are will result in much of the same symptoms as full-out anorexia, such as loss of muscle, depletion of vital organs (such as your heart), amenorrhea (loss of your period), and highly increased risk of osteoporosis later on in your life. Read Web MD's article about it here.
So. Basically, eat more, eat lots of good fats, and you should see your period again soon. If you're already at a healthy weight, and need to be maintaining, use a calculator specifically for teens (like this one), and figure out your daily calorie needs. No calculator, including the ones on this site, are accurate when you're under eighteen unless they specifically say they're for teens/kids. Even then, it's just an estimate.
Good luck. =]
:[ three times a month? Ouch...and I wish I could be happy to be missing it (it was my greatest dream xD) but I have all the moodiness and water weight and breakouts that come with it, but no relief. T_T I've been icky for two weeks--uber uber lame.
And am I really not getting enough? Well, no matter, I definatley went over today. I was kinda really sad so I hadda plow through some easter candy: a reeses egg, a peep and 4 jelly beans (and my dad brought home some chips and guilted me into them).
And I didn't mean I eat a cookie for lunch, but sometimes I will have one with my lunch, cos cookies are yum. :]
But thanks everyone, you're all totally nice and helpful!!! And thanks lynette for the links, that BMI site is looking pretty cool. :]
