My Period will not STOP!
So I started taking birth control this month, Loestrin 24 Fe, and I've really liked it. I haven't had too many side effects at all, so far at least. Except for the fact that my period will not stop and I am not taking the placebos even! I started the pill on the first sunday that i started bleeding and my period stopped. I just kept taking the pills and then a week later my period started again. Now it has been nine days and I am still bleeding. I'm still taking a pill once a day, i haven't got to the placebos yet. It's been pretty light, mind you, but still! Is this normal? What should I do? Is it just the first month and my body is trying to work out all the kinks? Thanks for any help! I'm kind of getting worried...
lol what!?!?!?
no seriously go and talk to the doctor who perscribed it to you, like ASAP, don't get too worked up though. I'ts not normal but is probably a hormonal mess up, could it be your natural period coming through over the top of it??
I dont know thats why i say, see your doctor
edit: removed personal info
that didn't happen waaaaaaaay back when when I was on the pill, but it did when I went to Depo Provera. after 4 years on depo, I switched to an IUD - I haven't had a period in .. oh.. 5 years. (WOOOOO!) - yes, that falls within the range of 'normal' for side effects on both of these.
Anyway, you SHOULD be fine, BUT - call your doctor anyway, or at least a nurse at your doctor's office. It may be an indication of something else, even if it's likely a side effect.
Okay, sounds like I shouldn't freak out then. I called my doctor, just waiting for them to call me back...I guess I'm mainly worried because my wedding is in exactly one month from today so it really needs to STOP. Because I don't want to have my period that day!
When I started my BC pills, I took the first week of hormonal pills and then started right in on a full blown period that lasted for the rest of the month. When I finished the placebos and finally started taking the next month's hormone ones, it got under control and was normal. :)
For the first three months, there's a lot of variation in experinces cuz your body is getting used to the hormone change. In my experience it settled down a lot after the first month, but I'm just starting my fourth month now and I occasionally still get my period a few days early or late, so it's not QUITE regulated yet.
Hope this helps. And congrats on getting married!
Other people already said this, but I'll second it. You're probably fine, it's within the range of normal side effects when starting hormonal birth control. Absolutely check with your doctor to make sure, but don't panic :)
Congrats on your wedding, and good luck!
Hey thanks guys:-) I called my doctor and she said that I should double up on the pills for three days and see if my period stops then. So hopefully that will help. She wants to make it stop now so that we can get it under control for the wedding which I am very grateful for. thanks for all of the advice!
Great, I hope that works!
