Personal incentive for losing?
I was just curios if you've set any incentives to encourage you to continue losing.
I wonder if it's a good idea to set incentives.
I decided, last night, that the second i hit 200 lbs I'm gonna go out and buy a fancy, schmancy, hand-tailored Italian suit. I don't think I've ever purchased a nice suit before, so I'm really looking forward to the day. I'm gonna go all out too, something really high falootin'. ha ha.
When i hit my mini-goals i like to treat myself to a pedicure and usually buy myself a new outfit (even if its only a new pair of shorts and a Tee :o) )
I find it helps keep me on track!
Hope your suit is AWESOME!
Is 200 your end goal? I would put off buying clothes until you are done losing weight, because otherwise it won't fit in a few months! Unless you are planning on taking it in more as you lose weight, as it is hand-tailored...
Anyway, yeah, my first goal is 165. I'm at 167 I think right now (I've been sick lately, so the scale is a bit off. It told me 165 yesterday and 167 today. I'm going to go tanning when I reach 165. Then, I'm gonna do something special at 160, 155, 150, and 145 as well... 150 will probably consist of me going through all my clothes, and 145 will probably consist of me going shopping... :-)
I figure, if I only wear the things that fit at 145, I'm much less likely to gain much back...

It's not. 180 is my goal. It may seem unwise, but I'm gonna do it anyway. :o
Thanks for sharing your incentives by the way.
I am at 184...my incentive for when I reach 150 is a tattoo in my stomach that I wont feel embarassed to show on the beach, a fabulous fitted dress to wear on my birthday and a spa day for the big night...my 26th birthday!!!
I think my personal incentive is not having to worry about buying new pants...just t-shirts as all of the t-shirts I fit into now have holes in them in random places. The reason for not buying new pants? I have plenty of "old" pants that are currently too small for me that I really, really like. Once I lose enough weight I'll be able to fit in them again. <3
I may also treat myself to some "sexy clothes," but that really only turns out to be more of a treat for my husband than it is for me. lol Perhaps a new video game or a purchase of something else that I don't necessarily need but do want. <3
I have quite a few mini goals where I will get pedicures or a new manga book. But my ultimate goal is to get a tummy tuck and a new rack. ![]()
once i reach my goal weight, i'm thinking about getting my belly button pierced. also, i'm going to buy a bikini for the first time in my life!!!
Sounds lame but I hadn't even thought about it. I should do though so thanks mortalmonkey. Well.....I think I'll dump my revolting baggy coat that is only designed to hide my bod while I'm out...and buy some new trousers and a jacket. Nothing with an elasticated waist!!!
i think i will buy a wii when i reach my goal weight of 155. With the sports package, so it will also have a little execise to it lol. And a big shopping trip! its been so long since i was at that weight i have nothin left of that wardrobe! If i reach my dream weight of 145, i will make a huge effort to pursue my dream of owning a bakery... and not eating all my baked goods :)) (this may include improving my credit as well as losing weight)
I actually want to get a Wii too, for Wii Fit!

It really depends on how much one has to loose, I think. I have quite a lot of weight to drop, so waiting until I'm done isn't really an option. Well, it could be, but I'd look like a bag lady before too long.

I have 50 to lose and more if i don't get a grip on it. But when i lose this i want to get permanent eye liner. that's my goal. ![]()
I have permanent eyeliner--I LOVE it. The only thing is that it fades and has to be redone about every two years. I don't know whether that's common, or just me.
I don't think about setting endgoals. I think about a reason for losing the weight. This time it's a wedding this summer--my niece's. I already bought the dress to wear but it doesn't look that good. I need to rein in some flesh for it to fit without bunching here and there.
I guess I ought to look at more long-term goals to keep me going. I don't know what it would be. Clothes don't really do it for me. It used to be the hope of having a lover, who would then see me naked. But I'm 57 now, so that doesn't happen anymore. Hmmm, mull, mull. At each stage of life, I seem to need something different to keep me healthy and looking forward.
Get belly button pierced.
~H~
I'm going to get a short & sexy bob haircut when I reach my first mini goal of 20 pounds. I think it will look really good with my newfound thin face :)
Most of my incentives are hanging in my closet or folded in my drawers. My sister is a fashion designer and gave me a pair of designer jeans this past Christmas. I had told her I wanted them as motivation for my weight loss. I know at my goal weight I will be able to wear them, and any other sample clothes she brings when she visits. i love free designer wear and being able to wear my sexy dresses and pants again. My goal is 120 and I'm at 139 right now.
Mine is just looking better, feeling better, and being healthier. I have a lot of guy friends, and I've dated guys before, but I've never actually had a relationship with a guy. I feel like my physical appearance is getting in the way of who I really am. I know that sounds shallow and stuff, but let's face it. Most guys are shallow, even the good ones. I'm tired of people not seeing me. I'm also mostly doing it for myself.
First, mortal, buy yourself your Italian suit. It'll be a fine tailored suit, and when you get down to your ultimate goal, you can have it tailored again. Go back to the same tailor, they'll understand the nuances of the material and the design of the line.
I buy new jeans for ever five pounds lost and kept off. It gives me bragging rights. And I like it! I also treat myself to a piece of jewelry every other month if I haven't reached five pounds, but have maintained or dropped. I also get a massage every four months. Not only is this a treat, but it's also healthy.
I think of treats as a luxury, so I try not to be too health related. It's a celebration of me, and all that is me. And I'm more than diet and exercise.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
