I was considering getting a personal trainer, at the very least until I learn and am comfortable doing the basics by myself.
I tried to find one local and didn't have any luck.
We do have a Curves here, but their phones were messed up when I tried calling today, not sure if they have personal trainers on staff there or not.
I was reading some articles online and it appears that online personal trainers are becoming popular.
Anyone ever used one, have any comments, advice, suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Hi!
I am a personal trainer, and I am just starting out in my career and I have a few questions I’d like to ask you!
What are you expecting to get out of a personal training session?
What do you WANT to achieve from a personal training session?
What service do you want a personal trainer to deliver?
How important is their personality?
Do you have a clear idea of your goals or will you determine the best course of action by discussing it with a personal trainer?
Personal trainers vary, some are very good and some not so good, you have to find the right fit by asking them questions and seeing weather their vision and attitude are right for you
A GOOD personal trainer will develop an exercise program, cardio and resistance, and will go through a session one of one with you, where you will tend to work harder then when your on your own because personal trainers motivate you each step of the way
A GOOD personal trainer will ensure you have correct technique, the better the technique, the more you will get out of the exercise because you are targeting your body more accurately
Some trainers only do one on one sessions, and do not set programs, it depends what the rules at their gym are!
I would highly recommend investing in a personal trainer, they can help you reach your goals faster then you can on your own by telling you exactly what to do and teaching correct technique so you have no variables that could slow your progress down ; if you do it on your own you can still get great results but most people do not use perfect technique 100% of the time, and most people do not have the same knowledge as personal trainers so their routine will not target your goals as accurately
I am young and am just starting out in my career and I would really appreciate your feedback!
TYPO - I meant to say that making your own routine may not target your goals as efficiently as a personal trainer can, which is why you pay us, because we have invested the time to learn EXACTLY what will work the fastest based on each individual and their goals.

What are you expecting to get out of a personal training session?
A specialized fitness program that is built to suit me and help me reach my goals.
What do you WANT to achieve from a personal training session?
What I should/shouldn't be doing in the way of fitness and how to correctly do it.
What service do you want a personal trainer to deliver?
Fitness training.
How important is their personality?
Not the most important, but close. I obviously don't want a fitness trainer who can't stand overweight/obese people(yes, I've seen/read about them).
Do you have a clear idea of your goals or will you determine the best course of action by discussing it with a personal trainer?
I know what I want, however based on information from a personal trainer, that could change. I want the personal trainer to listen to what my goals are and help me achieve them. I am open to suggestions and advice.

Hi!
Exactly a year ago I started my journey...and was STUCK for the longest time.
Working with a personal trainer helped me achieve everything that I wanted. She taught me how to eat, gave me great tips for every day stuff and most importantly kicked my ass 3 times a week.
A few months ago I got lazy and gained a bit back but now that I'm training with her again I'm re-motivated.
A trainer is not only good for the actual work-outs but also for support. Totally worth the money!!
Thank you netalie2 for sharing your experience with me.
I really appreciate it.
