personal trainer session

Yesterday I went for an appointment with a personal trainer. It was really interesting. I had already told them up front that I wasn't interested in joining a gym, and that this was basically a one time thing, so I'm actually now wondering if he figured with no "sale" he just made the experience pleasant. Or maybe I'm just too skeptical...

So he took my bodyfat % doing a 7-site caliper test. At 5'4", 160 lbs, and 45 years old it came out at 28%. So 114 pounds of LBM and 45 lbs of fat.

We then looked over my workouts and NROL book. He studied it, and then looked at the cover of the book, and laughed. He siad he had been hoping I would come in with some lame workout that he could shred to bits and give me something better, but that he had actually had a chance to meet Alwyn Cosgrove and talk to him and that he was awesome.

Then he had me do some low weight reps of some of the moves I ws curious about and basically told me my form was great. That obviously I had done my homework and gotten a lot of good info on things. He showed me variations on a few moves that weren't in the book and might work better for me at home, and he made sure I knew how/when to progress to heavier weights.

All in all it was a great experience. I told him that I would come back in a couple of months (hopefully after dropping a few pounds of the fat) to get another body comp test.

That's awesome. Id love to have one of those tests done. How much did it cost if you dont mind me asking?

Did he suggest anything (other than diet) in helping lose some fat?

The entire thing was $50.  He said I could come back in a few months and get another body compostion test done for $10.

He said my cardio (Wii) and workouts were fine.  Of course I told him that it was my (lack of) diet that was preventing me from losing weight.

He agreed with me that losing the weight was pretty much all about diet and that as long as I kept working out I should lose fat and not muscle.  So I guess I just gotta do better on the diet.

same with me too. i feel like now i should try and focus the most on food and food prep. but i am going to try and get back on the weight lifting horse tonight.

baseball monday, did an amazing run/sprint/walk session for 35 minutes outside. rest wed and should do weights tonight and sat to get back on track.

seems every 6 weeks i get in a rut and stop for a couple weeks...weird cycle.
