what are your personal "Yeah!" moments

Quote  |  Reply

We all have them.  Little goals that you achieve as your weight drops.  They can be things that you are trying to attain or things that have already happened.  I have lost about 35 pounds and have anothe 35 to go, but these mental milestones seem to be coming faster.

Here are some for me:

1. Sit on the toilet without my belly fat touching my upper leg/theigh (wow that was a big one)

2. Every time I move to the next hole in  my belt

3. The first time I noticed that my "side fat" does not squish over the top of my pants

4. Whenever anyone tells me "your face looks thinner", or "you look great!"

5. First time I could jog my 4 mile walking route without stopping (albiet extremely slowly)

Ones I am looking forward to:

1. Breaking under 200

2. wearing 36" waist again

3. wearing 34" waist again

4. Getting rid of my "fat wings" (sides of upper chest)

5. Able to take my wedding ring off to clean it

I think that the path back to fitness and a healthy weight is so long (it will be 2 years total before I am done) that you need these goals to help with your motivation and to reward yourself for making progress.

Does anyone have similar goals and milestones?

42 Replies (last)

1. getting rid of the big belly and having a flat stomach again

2. getting rid of the love handles on my hips

3. getting slimmer legs again so pantyhose fit.

4. being able to wear my rings comfortably again

5. being able to wear the necklaces again that now won't fit my big neck

6. being able to get a certain haircut I admire when my face looks slimmer

7. being able to buy boots (which I now can't because my calves are too big)

8. being more comfortable in an airplane seat

9. buying new sexy underwear

10. not being the fattest one in the room

11. having more energy and stamina

I just wanted to say good job on your progress, your determination is very inspiring!

For me it was things like fitting into a pair of pants I used to wear in high school, or being able to climb 5 floors without running out of breath and feeling like I might faint. I still remember the best of them all, when one of my favourite pairs of socks didn`t feel tight or leave ankle marks anymore. :)

I was 345.  Now I'm 286.  Cracking 300 was a big one.  Cracking 200 will be a big one.

My walks are timed.  So every time I push for a little more distance in that set time, that usually gets a "yeah" and a fist pump.

My BMI just dipped under 40.  So now I'm not "morbidly obese".  I'm just "regular" obese. Tongue out  Heh heh.

When I finish a circuit day and I'm exhausted and sweaty and I really feel like I DID something

When (TODAY!!) I could wear that cute shirt I bought with the little belt and actually wear the BELT WITH IT!!!!!.

I am so stoked today. :D

Things I'm looking forward to

1. Being able to see my belly button again (Got this one! Yay!)
2. Fitting back into my capris (comfortably)
3. Being able to wear cute shoes again and not have such swollen feet
4. My ultimate size goal: a 10. I'm an 18 right now

I had a big moment over the weekend when my hubby told me that he could tell my butt was getting firmer.  I was also able to put on some sexy underwear that I got that was once size too small!

Some yeah moments:

1. Noticing that I no longer had a muffin top with any of the pants/bottoms I own!  This was great b/c I DESPISED my muffin top.

2.  Fitting into my favorite pair of jeans that I've owned for about 10 years but haven't been able to wear in at least 3.

3.  2 weeks ago--- Fitting into an actual pair of Calvin Klein "skinny" jeans that I bought a couple of years ago because I LOOOVED them. They say "Ultimate Skinny" on the tag and they make me feel hot lol!

4.  Being able to hold a plank for at least a minute without collapsing to the ground!

Looking forward to:

- losing these last 8-10 stubborn, stubborn pounds

- wearing a bathing suit with confidence

- doing push-ups one day

Congrats on all your success so far!  You've done an amazing job.Laughing

Milestones I've reached:

  • Being able to do light housework without getting winded.
  • Having my knees not hurt to get down on the floor with my kids.
  • Having my chest stick out farther than my stomach (Barely got this one, so far)

Milestones to go:

  • Dropping a pant size, then another (I'm a 16/18 XL now)
  • Have my shorts not ride up my legs when I walk.
  • Having my belly not hang over my bikini line c-section.
  • Actually being able to see the muscles I'm working so hard on that are currently covered with a thick layer of fat.
  • being able to see my weight in the scale without having to push my tummy out of the way.

i'm down 10 lbs since Jan with about another 10-15 to go.

great moments so far:

- a coworker telling me that i was "disappearing" - it feels so great when someone notices the hard work you're doing
- my mom (though she's biased i'm sure) telling me how impressed she is with my progress
- fitting into a size 6 dress (after having been as big as a 12 a year ago) .. a flattering one too. it was such a surprise in the dressing room and i love every second of wearing it just because i can remember oh hey - this dress is tinyyy! and i'm in it!

looking forward to:

- wearing a bathing suit with confidence
- a firm tummy! and toned arms! (both so hard to do)
- truly liking candid pictures of myself & not being unpleasantly surprised but how i actually look vs. my mental image of myself

I hear ya on this one! I hear so many people saying that they see themselves mentally bigger than they are, not me, I see myself smaller than the camera does. :o(

Can't wait to not want to hide when a camera comes out.

Yeah moments so far-

-finally a "healthy BMI"

-everytime I have to pass the next size of Too big for me clothes to my SIL who is also losing weight, but a couple sizes behind me.

- the last time I went to visit my best friend and she came up behind me in the airport, and didn't realize it was me. She was startled when I turned around, and that was 13lbs ago, can't wait to see her again this summer!

I had a yeah moment this morning..

Slipped on my work pants which usually pinch in my waist because they're just a tad tight. And they fit. Buttoned easily and everything.

Blew me away.

  • Jogging 3 miles w/o passing out
  • fitting into my old size 10/12 pants (was a 14 or higher in some pants)
  • my swimsuit getting loose! (Love that one)
  • noticing how strong my legs have gotten
  • people noticing how much I lost (15pounds)
  • (at times) walking faster then the dog when I take him out. lol
  • Loving going to the gym! Sure there are times I just want to go home after work, but I am always so happy I went when I'm there (5 days a week since Feb!)

I think I've just had my first "Yeah!" moment! I just started on CC about two weeks ago, and I've lost 5 lbs! I was so shocked when I weighed myself this morning, I could hardly believe it! Frankly, despite all the work I've been doing it felt like nothing was going to change. But it has! I'm very excited.

Here are some things I am looking forward to:

-fitting into my expensive jeans again

-being able to outrun my fiance

-having a reason to buy new clothes

-looking amazing for my wedding next summer

-enjoying being active

My "Yeah!" moments:

Running 20 minutes straight at 10 minutes/mile (and a week ahead of my training schedule!).

Having to wear a belt because the waist of my pants are too big (though the thighs are still tight).

Noticing my appetite has decreased making it easier to eat a healthier amount when I go out to eat.

Having someone say "you look great (or skinny)!"  or just noticing my healthier body.

What I'm looking forward to:

Running my first 5K at the end of June.

Going down a pants size.

Feeling comfortable if my tummy shows in public again.

Feeling comfortable enough to model in a pin-up girl style photo shoot.

I just had a Yeah! moment. I tried on new clothes over lunch and even though I only bought the workout clothes, I tried on a pair of jeans that were 3 sizes smaller than where I started and they ZIPPED....EASILY! I started at a 24 and these were 18s! Flapped pockets on the back - not so flattering - but they fit! I turned to the side and asked out loud - is that me?! I think the lady in the next dressing room was a little worried but who cares!

Other yeah moments:

Having nothing in my closet to wear because everything is too big!

Feeling the newly formed muscles in my arms and legs.

Yeah moments to come:

Not running from the camera.

Feeling healthy and playing more with my kids!

Running a 5k!

Great post and I needed the motivation!

Mine is to gain and weigh 220 while maintaining a very low BF%.  "Yeah"! Cuz I know It wont take long! I joined in mid march @ 170 lbs. and today I am 192 with an 8% BF.

My own "Yeah" moments:

1. My thighs ceasing to rub each other to death (Yet they still touch, but I don't mind as long as I'm not in any pain!)

 2. Being able to run down the stairs when I'm late for something, and not further making myself late by having to stop and catch my breath.

3. Feeling comfortable wearing a tank top without a sweater or cardigan over it.

4. I don't look pregnant anymore when someone looks at me from the side.

Ones I am looking forward to:

1. I also can't wait for the day where I don't have to hide from candid pictures and pictures with family and friends.

2. Getting down to a size 9.

3. Being able to wear cuter jeans.

4. In five more pounds, I'm officially "healthy" according to the BMI scales.

5. Being completely healthy.

I've been on my journey so long having lost a total of 67 pounds, now my loss is at 62.  My goal is still 80 lbs.  Complacency Kills! LOL

Actually as wonderful as those words sound, I am diminshing my accomplishments.  I lost the weight 2 years ago and have done a fine job at maintaining that loss for another year.  Within a 5 pound range give or take... It just so  happens at this point in time I am at the taking part. LOL  Which is why this is an excellent thread for me to visit.   A gratuity check. Laughing

1)  Being able to cut or paint my toenails without having to sit back up from being so constricted by leaning forward.  ( I hope that makes sense. Its kind of hard to type that feeling.  It was really hard to breath in the position I had to get myself in. )

2)  Being able to wrap a " normal or regular "  sized towel around my body after a shower and it covering me.

3)  The OP brought this one back, Thank you.   My hands were wet and I was shaking off the excess water and my wedding ring flew off!  After the mad scramble to find it it was a pretty cool happening considering I couldnt get it off for years.

4)  Losing a chin! That was great!!

5)  Seeing my collar bones again!

And this last one is my all time favorite...

6)  You know how we fake race with our children from car to store or whatnot.  All those false starts pretending to take off when they do or giving it a half hearted little jog and letting them win.  I will never ever forget the day my (at the time)  9 year old son and I played that game for the last time.  We started like we always did ... On your mark, get set, go... and we were about half way through the parking lot when it hit us... I was Really Running!! We both stopped... I cried, he hugged me and my little boy told me right there in front of God and everybody;  " I'm proud of you Mom. "    I cried harder.  We bought more that day then I had planned.  To celebrate. Wink  ( Side note, He has never let me punk out since... He's 11 now! Stinker.  LOL )

I am in the process of writing things I will be looking forward too.  Once finished I will be back.  Great thread!!

I had two "yeah" moments this week.

1.  A coworker thought I was a child in the hall (I am short- and now getting small)

2.  My old size twelves slide over my hips without unbuttoning them - I am waiting for the day they fall off!

I see myself in many of these posts.

I know what you mean about painting toe nails. Since it's now sandal weather I painted mine the other day. WOW I bent right over without a thought. I did a really good job since I could see what I was doing.

I love my new muscles! My arms are looking pretty good for an old lady. Think Al Pacino in Scareface..."Say hello to my little friends" Laughing

Climbing up on my counter to clean the tops of the cabinets. I am able to move so easily, up,down, sideways.

I sleep like a baby...
