thought it would be interesting f we all shared tips/advice on what one change / food / diet plan etc has been an intregal key in our weight loss journies! the thread would not only inspire ideas but encourage others of trying new approaches and methods or realise where there own diet and weight loss plans have become ' stuck '! so come on, who wants to go first . . . . share your secrets! ; )

That's an awesome idea!  Green and Black's is sooo good too!  I'll try that and see how it goes Smile

Instead of thinking right im never going to eat that food until I reach that goal  I have planned in advance what days are likely to bring the most temptations such as my 7 year anniversary next week also little occasion like visiting family members who's only form of lunch is a packet of crisps and a milky way.

I also find weighing myself daily helps but I think that one depends on the individual.

 

Slim fast! I know that all of the propaganda that it got gives it a bad reputation, but I have been switching it for two meals a day, have been counting my calories, and am expected to meet my goal weight somewhere before August. Plus... it tastes really good (*>w<*)

i think re-conditioning myself. i live in ireland so its not always sunny. when it is sunny i CRAVE some white wine, but of late i have been going for walks in the park to enjoy the sunshine instead. it started to work last weekend. it was sunny out & even though it was my rest day from exercise, i craved to go for a walk in the park. i still had wine on my mind but the craving wasn't as intense as usual.  it was very relaxing to walk with the trees, grass, river & dogs running around. it was very hard because the first few weeks, i thought i would never get over the wine craving. its still there & i have to be mindful of it, but its not as intense.

I eat the majority of my days calories for breakfast and lunch, work out after work, then eat a light dinner (grilled chicken, salad, veggies, etc.). I always bring apples, pears, banana, or strawberries to work for a snack. When I need a 'sweet fix', I have a sugar free Jello pudding cup- only 60 calories :)

I not only wanted to lose weight, but eat much healthier. My diet consists mostly of raw fruit and vegetables. I eat about 60% of my vegetables raw, the other 40% are steamed or cooked in recipes

What is great about eating a lot of fruit and vegetables... they are low in calories and fat, high in vitamins, mineral and fiber. They are very filling, you can eat all you want.

For example, you could eat 1 cup carrots raw (50 calories), 1 cup broccoli raw (30 calories), and 1 cup raspberries (61 calories) for lunch. Add 2 tablespoons of salad dressing of your choice for the vegetables and have the raspberries for dessert. That is 3 cups for very healthy foods for less then 150 calories. If you want, you could add a whole wheat dinner roll (bun), a piece of cheese, etc.

I also eat every 3 hours and hardly ever feel hungry. If i do, I still eat a small snack, like a small handful of almonds. Eating every 3 hours, keeps your metabolism and hormones elevated.

This has helped me lose almost 25 pounds.

hey y'all, i'm new.  i don't have any magical secrets.  but i think i have finally found a way to stick to my decision to change my lifestyle, instead of go on a diet. 

no big giant secret, it's just all mental!  finding all the excuses i used to give myself, and consciously talking myself out of them.  finding ways to trick myself into getting into my shoes and getting into the gym.  making exercise fun.  filling my mp3 player with stuff i can't stop listening to once i start.

keeping a food journal is a really in your face way that i have found to keep calories under control - they can really get away from you.  once i started, i thought...there is not telling how many calories ive been eating!!

 

A bit random, but a tip when I'm demotivated.. When I give attention to my "outside" body (and see immediate results!); it's much easier sticking to the plan of getting my "insides" healthy! So treating myself with a manicure/ facial/ etc (even if I do it myself) really helps me want to stick to the healthy lifestyle plan... Good luck everybody! =)
