If You Could Have ANY Pet...
I've been REALLY wanting a sugar glider. I think they're adorable! And that's a realistic one (kinda). My mom said if I could find one around here, which seems to be near impossible, and I read up on them and study them for a bit, I could get one! Either that or a chinchilla...They're cute too!

Chinchilla
Other than that I absolutely LOVE wildcats. My stepgrandma had a bunch of different ones (all at different times!). The one I remember was a bobcat and she was so much fun, and SO CUTE! I would love to get one if it were possible.
Oh and a fennec fox would be SO cute too!
Fennec Fox
What about you?!
Telepathic panther.
the pet i already have! my blue great dane! she's AWESOME.
Well, I have quite an amazing and charming dog, but I've always wanted a monkey--if I had to specifiy, a bonobo ape--they're almost human!
Check them out, live in action:

a white west highland terrier doggy like the ones in the Cesar dog food commercials, a persian kitty cat, a golden labrador retriever dog, a pigme goat, and a llama.
If I could get a "tame" Lion that would be my dream pet. I remember years ago there was this picture of a boy leaning against a lion reading a book -- I always wanted to be the person in that picture!!!
Sugar gliders are cute but expensive and nocturnal so to really "enjoy" them you need to be nocturnal too - at least that's what I've heard from friends who owned them.
My daughter always asked for a ferret (smelly critters)
The best pet I ever had was a lab/ springer spaniel mix -- She was so fun and great to have with kids. When we moved we "loaned"her to a friend while we were renting but when we bought a place the friend asked if she could keep her - so since she had a big house and yard we said ok. She had to be put to sleep last year due to an illness and age. I miss that mutt!!!

check out the pictures in this article. You can read if you want to, too. Now, I believe it was 2 years later, the same people went to visit their lion again once it had been released into the wild. Here is the video:

Thanks so much for the link -- I had seen that video before. My infatuation to lions began after I watched "Born Free" That has got to be my absolute favorite movie ever!!!

When I was young we had pet turtles all the time. you could get a box turtle in any pet store -- I think now its illegal to sell them because of some disease they carry-- I think its just salmonella or something common but because too many kids were getting sick from them pet stores can't sell them??
We had a tortiose that used to hang out in our front yard a year ago but we haven't seen it yet this year
Yeah sugar gliders and fennec foxes are pretty cool, I want:
dog (catahoula leopard dog, thai ridgeback, great dane, akita, chinese crested, ibizan hound, pharaoh hound and more..)
cat (regular all black one, bengal, maine coon, ragdoll, sphynx, cornish rex)
ferret
rats
panther grouper, lionfish, snowflake eel, snakehead(had one but they're illegal now)
crested basilisk, chinese crocodile lizard, iguana
probably more I'm forgetting
and of course things like wild cats would be cool :P

Yeah it's true, you can't buy them where I live, it's illegal :( I think it's also because where I live, the turtles are endangered.
My sister has one and hers has totally adjusted. They're easy to take care of and completely adorable. Watching them roll around in their dust bath is absolutely hilarious. Her last chinchilla (Carl Brutananadelewski) would roll in his dust bath for hours... then he died. Her new one (Jean Francois) I haven't seen in action.
I'm with PG, I'd have a horse again. Although, that doesn't stop me wanting a pygmy marmoset and a Dendrobates azureus both far more work than I would be willing to expend. I would also love an owl. Specifically a northern pygmy owl. I'm really starting to think I have some weird obsession with miniaturised things.
I had chinchillas growing up, they were so soft, but you had to be careful that they didn't over heat in the summer. I remember when my aunt and uncles one got out one night while the cat was inside - they woke up the next morning to a living room full of fur and a naked chinchilla under the TV. They drop their fur when they're caught by predators. :)
Sugar gliders are needy bastards, they may be cute, but they are a bloody hassle to look after.
I do, however, agree 100% with a Fennec Fox. They put my hoochie's ears to shame.
Edit to add: I want a sphynx, but evil husant won't submit to my will on this matter.
i dunno, i always thought the little brother was a pretty good pet, but then he grew up.
that said, i've always wanted a cat.
I want a Clydesdale and a Shetland pony. And I want them to be best friends.
