All I have to say is that it WORKS. Super expensive to buy now but I lost my weight (about 10 lbs) in a few weeks because it took away my appetite completely. The side affects were kindof crappy though, I took the 37.5 and they made me irritable, and sometimes gave me insomnia (if I took it too late in the day). Also gave me dry mouth but I loved how much energy it gave me and made me never want to eat :) Just be careful if you're sensitive to caffeine, this stuff makes you feel like you're high on life pretty quick. Good luck
Well I read up on it and it was one of the ingredients in FenPhen.  But would it be worth it?  Sounds like it, as long as it's in moderation with sensible diets and exercise. why not give it a try

I think it's the only pill out there that I think works if you want extra energy and an appetite suppressant. I have a high tolerance for most of them out there and that one definitely takes the cake! :)
It's an amphetamine. Addictive, problematic, best avoided.

Well did you like the phenteramine?  I absolutely love being on it but my family hated me on the stuff.

It works like a charm but you will gain every pound back if you haven't changed you eating lifestyle!!  So be careful!!

well it would be something to look into.  I would like to but exactly how expensive is it?  I don't want to get roped into a "quick fix" but a nice push on the right track could be helpful.

I started taking Phentrimine Jan 2nd and I have lost 13lbs - It totally curves your appetite and you have to stay hydrated - plenty of water - now keep in mind if you take it you MUST EAT! You will feel like you dont but YOU HAVE to - ESPEICAILLY if you want to keep the weight off after you stop taking it.  I dont look at it as a QUICK fix - I see it in a positive light and that is :it is helping me learn to eat better and by that I mean, with the med it curves your appetite and helps you to eat less - therefore, I gave up sodas (the extra energy was to much), I eat greens, fruits etc - This allows me to learn to portion control also.  I also started to exercise - The fast weight loss gave me such motivation to keep going.  So when I come off the med then I can do it myself.

GOOD LUCK!

I'm actually taking it now. I asked my doctor to prescribe it for me and he did but it wasn't covered by my insurance b/c I'm not "obese", I couldn't afford it. A friend of mine had the same script and didn't want it so she get's it filled and I cover the co-pay.

I love it. It curbs your appetite so that you eat smaller portions intermittantly throughout the day. This is supposed to be a good way to keep you metabolism going. I only plan on taking it for about three months and only to pretty much condition myself to the smaller portions at more frequent intervals. I'm not trying to "not" eat or deny myself particular foods - I just want to get used to eating less. Also, b/c I'm not ravenous when I do eat... I eat slower and give myself an opportunity to feel satisfied instead of eating until I'm really full.

It should be cosidered an aid to weight loss, not the solution.

Good luck!

Always wondered myself what it was exactly...thanks for answering!

Hey Min65 - take your script to Sam's Club (if you have one) I go there and only pay $14.00 for a month script

Good luck

I also was prescribed the medicine by my doctor because I had trouble losing weight - I was also on it for 3 months. Towards the end, you may get used to the effects of the medicine and it will seem less effective. You may begin to overeat again too. I would suggest trying to wean yourself off of it in the last month you are on it, taking it every other day, so that by the time you are done with the pills, it isn't such a sudden jolt to your system.

The pill is a quick fix, and I agree with the other comments:

- you MUST stay hydrated

- you MUST eat meals throughout the day

- if you are sensitive to caffeine, be extremely careful if you are taking this pill and exercising, the pill increases your heart rate drastically, which is why you can remain sedentary and drop weight so easily (your body is tricked into thinking you are doing an intense activity)

- it is a great way to jump-start your metabolism and gives you the motivation to keep exercising and working at losing the weight even after you are finished with the prescription

Please, don't get lazy about losing weight and don't let the pill do it all for you, there are no quick fixes that will last forever.

Remember: slow and steady wins the race. If you don't work hard for it, then you won't appreciate it as much. The easier it is to lose the easier it is to gain and the easier it is to tell yourself: well I can just go back on the pill and lose the weight all over again. In the long run, yo-yo-ing up and down is worse for you.

For everyone's background, I took the pill as a last resort. A nutritionist is not covered by my health insurance, since i am not "obese" enough. In college I was successful on Weight Watchers, dropping 30lbs the summer after freshman year (I had gained 40lbs freshman year- going from 125 to 165) and was able to stick around a weight range of 136-145 until after graduation. Since I hit the working world and have been working 10-12 hr days, commuting 4 hrs on top of that, and sleeping 6hrs a night - I have had trouble keeping my weight down. I was tested for thyroid problems, and that came back negative. Obesity also runs in my family and two of my relatives have had the stomach bypass surgery.

Has anyone ever ordered it over the internet?
I have done a lot of research on this drug.  It seems that about 75% of people who take it end up gaining the weight they lost back, once they stop taking it.  It also has a lot of the same side effects as Ritalin and adderall....not good.  I would think twice before taking this and do your research.
I was on it, for about 3 months on half a pill a day and honestly it did work, i lost close to 50 lbs (but i also worked out  every single day) the only side effect is that it does make you thirsty! i was drinking about 10-12 bottles of water a day, It completely took my hunger away, I would on occasion go the whole day without eating, but as soon as my doctor took me off of it,  I gained back all 50 pounds and gained another 20...and i still continued to excercise everyday.  I switched doctors and the new doc told me those pills completely mess with your bodies metabolism, so once your off your body doesnt know what to do with those empty calories, that caused the weight gain.
I wouldn't recommend taking any type of pill, with diet and excercise you can get the same results from my experience now.
That's kind of scary when you think about it.  I use to do a lot of the ephedrine when it was easy to get at any convenience store and it sounds like the drugs are similar.  But when I wasn't able to get a hold of them once in a while then I ballooned up.  All in all I guess it doesn't do you too much good if it doesn't train you to eat right. You'll be thinner for a little bit but with all the same bad habits. Cry  And stomach stapling scares me a bit too cause I've known people to get them and they all had to have excess skin removed and they can't eat certain foods and so on.  Guess it's just up to good old fashioned will power eh?

Thirsty wasn't the only side effect for me.  It also made me constipated and moody(I guess one thing begets the other...) and since I was exercising way more than I was eating I plateaued after a quick 17 pound loss, even though I was working out like a mad woman.  I ended up wearing my muscle down instead of building it up b/c I wasn't eating enough to "feed" my muscle.  In other words, I was working myself to death with nothing to show for it!  You have to be really careful with those pills.

Coming off of them can be an interesting experience for your loved ones as well.  When I researched it I found that you can have psychotic episodes when you try to come off of them.  I wasn't that bad, but  I wasn't a lot of fun either!

A benefit (depending how you look at it) is if you have a high sex drive it increases it, and if you have a lower sex drive it makes it even lower.  So it can be a negative, too.

I've been using this off and on for a year now.  My doc will only prescribe it for 3 months at a time, then 3 months off.

I've lost 90#.  Yes, it is great not being constantly hungry, but I use that time to learn and reinforce new eating habits, new foods, smaller portions.  I have been able to maintain my weight in the off months, and make good progress when I am on it.

Like any pill, there are some potential side effects.  The only thing I've noticed is constipation, and very rarely, insomnia.

If it is used just as a quick fix, then you will get the same results you get from any quick fix.  Used as a tool, with other tools, to change your eating habits, it is great.
