hmm.. im unaware of this Phentermine.....

*googles it*
O_O oy! not that I was planning on it, but:

*places it on my 'do not consume' list*
I use it with Wellabutin(anti-depressant).  It work for me but I take them daily for about 2 month then take 3 weeks off the phentermine. My body gets use to it. Plus it helps to eat right and execrise.

I had a friend who lost over 100 lbs. by take 3 x day(DONT DO THAT). I'm not sure how she is doing now.
i was taking it a couple of years ago and it helped me lose alot of weight i wanna go back on it but i cant afford the xtra 75 bucks a month it costs at this moment
I have taken it before on two separate occasions.  The first time I managed to lose 50lbs in 6 months.  The second time it didn't work for me.  However, I will not take it again.  Because obviously once I quit taking it I put the weight back on.  It can work really well for losing the weight though, not to mention giving you all kinds of energy.  Nothing like "legal speed".  lol

Hi there.  I thought I would take a moment and share my experience with phentermine.  My highest weight was 230lbs in June of 2004.  I am 5'10" tall with a medium build.  Obviously 230lbs was way to much even for being tall.  I had a rip in my spinal column that was causing my right leg to go numb and I had serious lower back pain on a regular basis.  My doctors knew that I had to lose the weight because it was pulling my lower back in further and causing more pain.  My doctor put me on the highest dose of phentermine.  For the first week I was so wound up I couldn't sleep but a few hours every night and that was from just being plain exhausted.  I didn't do anything different with my eating patterns(they weren't very good at the time).  I was still eating chips and drinking pop.  I just found that I forgot all about eating.  I had to remind myself to eat.  Smelling food while driving by fast food restraunts didn't even catch my interest.  Without changing any eating patterns I lost 25lbs.  Soon I realized if I changed my eating patterns I could lose more a lot faster.  So I started eating Healthy Choice meals and a better breakfast.  By December of 2004 I had lost over 50lbs.  Two months later in February of 2005 I started walking.  My doctor took me off of the pills at that point because she felt that I was at a healthy weight, 180lbs.  I still wanted to lose more weight so I started excercising a lot more by going to the gym and using the bike and doing Pilates.  I have kept my weight at 175lbs(give or take a few) for over 16 months.  I had tried every big fad diet in the last five years.  The only drawback was that I had gotten constipated but that was a small price to pay!  Phentermine has been the only thing that has worked for me.  My sister started taking it two months ago and has lost over 30lbs.  I hope you see the results that we have.  Goodluck!

That is great, patricaka...sounds like it's working well for you both!  Congrats on your weight loss!!!  I started taking it for a little "boost" to get me started losing again.  I'm staying at 1200 calories or less per day, so it helps to have something that curbs my appetite.  When I do eat, I eat a little at a time...I get full quickly.  I know the phentermine is not a cure for weight loss, but it's helping me resist wanting to eat all the time.  I'm paying better attention to what I eat, how much, etc.  I am also exercising.  I don't want just a "quick fix"...I'm making a lifestyle change.  This C-C site is great, too!  It's awesome to be able to keep track of everything.

Agreeneyewoman, I take Wellbutrin, too, so maybe that would be a good plan for me, too.

I know it's not for everyone, but I'm glad to hear some success with it.  Thanks to everyone for their input!  :)
MY SISTER TOOK IT AND LOST 7 POUNDS IN 2 WEEKS. THEN STOPPED BECAUSE ALL HER HAIR STARTED TO FALL OUT. IT STILL IS AND ITS BEEN A MONTH SINCE SHE TOOK THE LAST ONE. bE CAREFUL.
Instead of pumping possibly harmful drugs into your system, you can try a natural version to help you out.

I would recomend 2 things:
Garcinia :  This is a flower extract, you take 4 a day before meals and it helps supress your appetite, but not in a harmful way

Ephedra: Natural extract which helps speed up your metabilism. Works even better with caffeine (so coffee or guryana)

Do all you can to avoid pharmaceutical chemicals, plus, these are cheaper.

At the moment, I am taking Garcinia and it does help.

I was reading this forum on Phentermine (which I am on currently) and saw you comment about natural supplements back in 2006. It is amazing how one day we think something is good for us, like you did with Ephedra, and now its bad for us. LOL Who knows, they used to think that a glass of wine a day is good, now it may cause heart desease... whats same anymore?? :) I have lost 7-8 lbs, and I started on Saturday Sept 26, 7 days ago. I am 5'3'' and started 143... Thats only 8-10 lbs over the middle BMI so the doctor didnt really want to get me on a long diet, and hesistant to get me on a short one.... yet he took my money, gave me the pills (and ONE b12 shot for the entire month) and sent me on the way. He told me to take one a day and that was it... so he was more into the money then helping me loose the weight and keep it off. No healthful eating plans, no excersize talk, nothing. I do like the fact that i dont have food constantly on my mind, I sometimes have to choke the food down to even be able to eat more than 500 cals a day. I used to eat obsess with food, and binge eat. I had a eating disorder, and it has cured it BUT almost made me have another eating disorder by barely being able to eat. Just remind yourself that if you eat 1000-1200 cals a day will help keep your metabolite high and with the pills you will burn more calories than the pills and only eating 500 cals a day (which ruins your metabolism). I am liking it in general, BUT if you have TMJ dont take it... I paid $2200 for TMJ treatment and after a few months of wonderful progress, day 6 and 7 of Phen. and my TMJ is worse than ever, take a break every 4 days....use that day to eat simple but more caloric meals and that way you feel like you aren't cheating yourself in the long run and your body will get used to it and not go into starvation mode, gaining weight the day you stop the "diet program" (pills) all together. Ok well I went on long enought...

If your talking bout Guarana then no i wouldnt recommend that at all, i would better off stick to the phentermine. there is lack of studies in it and it has massive amount of caffenine in it so recommending it with coffee isnt the smartest thing to do. Maybe your body can tolerate it bout not everyones.

Does Guarana Cause Side Effects? Guarana contains a large amount of caffeine (which is actually the active ingredient in guarana). Therefore, guarana can cause any of the side effects that are usually associated with caffeine consumption.   Common Guarana Side Effects Since guarana has not been adequately studied in clinical trials, all information on side effects comes from what is known about caffeine. Based on this information, common guarana side effects may include:
  • Insomnia
  • Nervousness
  • Restlessness
  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Shakiness (tremor) or jitteriness
  • Increased urination
  • Headaches
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus).
Guarana Side Effects to Report Some side effects with guarana, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider right away. These include but are not limited to:
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • A rapid heart rate (tachycardia)
  • Rapid breathing or difficulty breathing
  • Seizures
  • Anxiety or agitation
  • An irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • Feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart (known as heart palpitations)
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.

and if your doc recommends phentermine its bc he thinks the benifits out weigh the risks (hopefully) and idk where everyone else is getting there phentermine but mine was only 19.95

I took phentermine for about 6 months and lost about 100 pounds in that time- I kept it off until 5 years later when I got pregnant- I tried to use it again but it is damn near impossible to get and I am not sure if I got the real deal- this time is hasn't done anything for me.

Find a bariatric (weight loss) physician in your area. I had the same problem. Years ago you could order phentermine off the phentermine website! Now they have banned it from being sold online in the US.  You can get it over seas, but it may not be the real thing. I ordered it once and it wasn't as strong.  I found a weight loss doctor in my area that will give it to me and I am grateful! I've lost 8 pounds in about 1 1/2 weeks.

I'm a huge fan of phentermine but it's not for everyone. I don't believe it's beneficial for anyone who expects miracle weight loss without any effort and also there are many with medical issues who should avoid this medication but under a physician's supervision it can be a great jumpstarter to anyone's weight loss. Phentermine is not a long term medication and should be used carefully for no longer than 3 months. In regards to a previous post, rapid weight loss can cause hair loss regardless of what method is utilized.

I had originally discovered phentermine 3 years ago. I used the medication but did not work out or cut my calories in any way. The results were still incredible - I lost 15 pounds the first month and 10 the second and third. The only problem was when the medication stopped, my weight increased rapidly and came back with reinforcements because I had not learned to make a total lifestyle change.

Since then I've learned from my mistakes and after having two children I decided to give it another try. I coupled daily phentermine use (37.5mg) with moderate elliptical activity 5 days a week (1 hour - 4.5 miles - 550 calories) and a reduced calorie diet of 1100 calories daily (1650 on days I ran). I weighed in at 176 pounds on March 20th and as of today I weigh 154 with an average weekly weight loss of 3 pounds. It's a grueling process - I remember being at a dead standstill with only an 10 pound weight loss as I hit week 5 but all of a sudden the weight began to melt off inspiring me to stick with the work outs and calorie counting. I eliminated refined sugar and deep fried foods from my diet (although I do allow myself a "cheat meal" probably once a week). I love the BodyBug but I didn't want to pay $250 plus a monthly subscription fee so I have an iPhone with a great free program called "Lose It!" that tracks all of my progress and helps me stay within my caloric budget especially when I'm eating on the go.

If you have a prescription it can cost anywhere from $18-50. I've been to every pharmacy in the SouthWest looking for the best deals since insurance doesn't cover the scripts and buying online seems so shady. Fry's will sell phentermine for $18 but ask your doctor to write it for more or less than 30 days. For some odd reason Fry's pharmacy has a glitch that only charges you $18 when you try to buy an odd number of pills. CVS will fill it for $22 every day, Safeway for $42 (ask if they can get you a discount with their prescription program, sometimes they can use an existing account to give you an added discount without you actually having to subscribe to the program - with the discount the pills run $32), and Walgreen's for $48. I haven't tried WalMart but I believe they are in the cheaper neck of the woods as well.

my problem is finding a dr that will actually give in and prescribe it.

A lot of medical weight loss clinic physicians will prescribe it; those HCG clinics actually incorporate the use of phentermine or Meridia into their programs but since those programs can run into the hundreds of dollars for a 6 week run you might want to ask a family practitioner. My DO in Arizona is pretty liberal with it but he does ask that you check in with him monthly before picking up refill scripts and he does a full lab panel before prescribing anything to check for thyroid issues.

I had a ton of success with it a few years ago 70+ lost in 6 months and I had kept it off for years. I am currently trying it again but had to get it online which is pricey and a little nerve racking.. thanks- I will try the clinic here near me.
