Any phobias?
Spiders, hands down. It doesn't matter what size they are (although the bigger and hairier they are the worse it is). I was bitten by one when I was around 3 and have been freaked out by them ever since. It didn't get any better when I woke up one night with one behind my ear and it was the size of my damn palm. Okay, I was only about 7 by then and I had small palms, but dammit it scared me! Now, when I see them in the house, I have to kill them. If I don't see it die, then I can't sleep at night from thinking it's going to come crawl into my mouth while I'm asleep. I can't look at them in pictures. I can't watch them in movies or on tv. And I damn sure can't wear clothes that have those printed on them. I've nearly caused car accidents upon discovering one in the car. I don't even like the word. It's pretty bad.
I also have an irrational fear of cameras; having my picture taken, in particular. I'm not disfunctional or anything. I just have a really hard time having my picture taken. If a camera comes out, I either leave the room or cover my face. Every picture that I have is of me with AT LEAST 2 or 3 drinks in me (yes, including the one on my profile), because it seems to be the only way I can look at the camera without squirming, flinching, skin crawling, dying inside, etc.
carnival rides! i hate them. everyone is having fun and laughing while i am in line having an anxiety attack! that one must stem from the time i was about 7 or 8 and me and my two sisters were on the spider ride. we just got on and my daddy was talking to the guy running the thing. i hear him say to the guy "hey isn't this the ride were the cage fell off and killed those three little girls last night?" he must have winked at the guy or something cuz he was like, "ya, but we fixed it" i screamed my head off the whole ride and never wanted to go on another one. ever. i don't ever remember being scared before that.
horses! i am afraid of any animal that can take me out if they wanted to. a horse sensed i was scared and took off with me on its back! luckily it stopped. i was 15 and that was the last time for me. my girls wanted me to ride an elephant with them when they were little and i could feel the sweat running down my back immediately. luckily my friend was there and went on it with them.
lastly, losing my job and being poor. i am 43 and have never been without a job. not even a couple days since i was 18 but the fear is still there. i have always had a "back up job" just in case. i am working on this as i missed out on a lot of my girls growing up out of this fear. sure they have nice things but they missed out on a lot of my time.

for someone afraid of getting their picture taken, you sure have a pretty smile! you should make that fear go away.
jeff gets upset with me because he has to take 3 or 4 pics of me because the flash makes my eyes close every time!! hahaha if i hold my eyes open deliberately, i have the funniest look on my face!![]()
For the spider-phobes, an interesting piece of trivia I read a while back: an average of 8 spiders will crawl in and out of your nose/mouth while you are asleep in a lifetime. And to think! Life expectancy is only getting longer...maybe 10? :D

Somehow I imagine that piece of trivia came from someone who was trying to freak someone else out.
In my opinion, it is a shame that you don't often have your pic taken, Wetmosaic. I take a lot of pics and have people who don't want their pictures taken. I remind them that there may come a day when they are not here anymore and their children, siblings, nieces, nephews and/or friends may wish they had pictures of their friend who is no longer with them. A picture can ease the pain of loss.

Funny you should say that... When I come across pictures of myself I usually cut them up or burn them (I do make exceptions for pictures that have other people in them). My mother is at her wits' end, because she has next to no pictures of me. All my childhood and baby pictures, graduation photos, everything; I rip them up or burn them. *shrug* I guess I figure that if someone needs a picture to remember me, I couldn't have been that important to them anyway.
Phones...or I should say calling/talking to people on phones. For as long as I can remember I try to get other people to make phone calls for me. I never answer the home phone, and I never answer my cell phone if I don't know the number (unless I'm expecting a call from someone who is out somewhere). It takes me a few days to muster up the courage to call back for job interviews. I won't apply to jobs I have to call, only fax/email, or if they actually require some reception duties. When I do call someone I don't know, sometimes I'll even type out on my computer what I want to say, at minimum I'll go over in my head what's the best way to say/ask what I want.
I'm getting better though, I kind of got forced into it at my current job. About a month after I started working there my boss installed phones on the other floors, and now expects us to answer it if she doesn't. I still avoid it sometimes, but I do answer at least half the time lol. Then the other day I had to actually call someone who was late for their appointment (for dog grooming). I find myself able to make most of my own phone calls now, though I still try to get others to do it sometimes :P

Commitment. (I was going to say that I was afraid of the calories in lip-gloss but I thought better of it.)
Haha. I love it.
My fear is tornadoes. Or any weather that could possibly create tornadoes, like thunderstorms, hurricanes, windy conditions, etc. Absolute terror.
But um, my two main phobias are blood and pull-out mattresses. I almost suffocated when I told my friend to close me in ours.
I HATE HATE HATE heights. HATE THEM. I don't start screaming when I'm high up, but I have to close my eyes and I start shuddering and start feeling dizzy. It's great when I'm at a waterpark and we're only 10 feet above the ground and I can't go near the edge of the stairway because I start freaking out.
I'm also terrified of being a failure or being alone. Blah.
snakes! (that one's the absolute worst). drowning, getting stuck out too far in the ocean (while swimming, i mean), getting stuck in a fire, people finding out all of my secrets, tornadoes, becoming poor, and (this one is really weird) carwashes. yes, carwashes. they just seriously freak me the hell out. i guess i'm afraid that i'll drive in and get stuck and never come out.

worse things have happened though... there's a fear of flutes and chickens :P
Ew, feet. You touch me with them or they come near me, I will not speak to you... family, friends, anyone.
I swear that I am so afraid of a blood test. I believe one definition of a “phobia” is an irrational fear. That is it.
Play some football where I may bruise the skin off of my knee away? No problem.
Take part in a tae kwon do tournament where the other guy could possibly break my arm. No problem.
Having laser eye surgery where you can literally see and smell the cutting. No problem.
Deviated septum surgery. No problem.
Seeing my blood. No problem (mostly).
Seeing a needle. No problem.
Seeing a needle in my vein. Major problem.
My vision literally narrows. It’s like weird. I see the sides of the room narrowing. I’ve never fainted but oh, I’ve come so close, so many times.
That is why as a kid my parents never worried that I would become an intraveinous(sp) drug user.
It staggers my imagination when I see people shoot up.
Spiders don't bother me to much, it's JUNE BUGS that I can't do! If I even hear one flying around I run inside. Their legs are so sticky and they have those hard shells!! Ick!
Also, wood in my mouth. I don't do toothpicks and I usually throw away the bottom part of Popsicles so I don't accidentally bite down on the stick. I cringe when my husband chews on toothpicks all day.
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
