I'm sure you all care oh so much, but I'm bored so....

- referring to regular mail as "snail mail" - not cute... annoying

- "you didn't gain it all at once, don't expect to lose it all at once"
   a) how do you know I didn't gain it all at once?
   b) not really all that helpful

- anything having to do with Twitter or tweeting

- when people say "I could care less" - If you say that it means that you care, because you could care less than you currently do.  The phrase is " I couldn't care less" implying that you care so little you possibly couldn't care any less than you do already.

- starting a sentence with "not to be rude, but..." OK if you start a sentence like that then you definitely are going to be rude so either embrace it and just be rude or don't say it.

Other annoying things:  Posts like this one.  But hey, I'm bored so if you are too share the sayings that bug you.  Its great for stress relief.

Also "long story short". Everytime I hear that, it's twisted in with a time consuming story. I always marvel to myself, "this is the short version?"

I agree.  Everytime someone says "to make a long story short" I think "too late."  One of these days I'm afraid I'll say it out loud.

"Work smarter, not harder"

Whenever a boss said this, it was a guarantee that our department was about to lose at least 2 to 3 people.

"outside the box"

"cross functional"

"customer driven"

"paradigm shift"

"synergy"

*shudders from memories of team meetings to come up with departmental vision statement....*Yell

We must work at the same place.

"Work smarter, not harder" - Get it up the wazoo with no lube

Whenever a boss said this, it was a guarantee that our department was about to lose at least 2 to 3 people.

"outside the box"  - you missed the hole

"cross functional" - you don't know who is bossing you around and what your next assignment is

"customer driven" - run as fast and as far away as you can cuz someone just decided what the customers want from a survey created and edited by someone in marketing

"paradigm shift" - situation normal, everything just changed for no real reason

"synergy" - musical group in the 80's

*shudders from memories of team meetings to come up with departmental vision statement....*Yell

What they really mean is in bold.

Alot of slang bugs me, I don't get like, super annoyed by them, but they make me wanna do this: Undecided when I hear them. :P

One that bugs me is "alot." A lot is always two words. For someone who is a "grammer nazi" like you, you should know that. LOL.

Also, "alright." It's "all right." Again, always two words.  I saw someone the other day behind me in line with a shirt that said, "Everything is going to be alright." It drove me crazy!! I wanted to say something, but I held my composure.

They aren't phrases, but they drive me crazy.

Alright seems alright. You got me on alot though... I actually thought it was alot all this time. Embarassed

Don't worry bunny. Everything is gonna be alright a lot of the time.

Soooo, anyways.  Hate it!  No freakin' s!

or for that matter...anywhooooo.

You know what they say about assuming... its makes an a _ _ out of you and me.

YES!! And people starting a sentence with "don't get me wrong, I'm not racist or anything..." who then go on to say something incredibly racist. GRRRRR!

Also, people who say something really insulting and then say "no offence" afterwards like that makes it ok!

Yes. That.

It's one of the single most annoying things on the planet.

"I'm going to be honest with you"    "Honestly"     "To tell you the truth"

When someone says any of these phrases to me I know I am in for a huge load of horse manure!!

when someone uses the word "like" more than once in a sentence

"like the other day when, like I was at the store there was a guy, like...and like...like like"

Original Post by sun123:

I say "you guys' but that there isnt a correct version that includes "guys". All of you guys?  No? Yeah, I know but like whatever.

Heh. I got criticized after one of my presentations for referring to the audience as "you guys". My critique was by an elderly lady that felt I was neglecting the women in the room unless I addressed the group as "you folks" instead of "you guys".

Added 2 more:

"smile": Don't tell me to smile. I know that smiling will lift the spirit, but being told to smile just irritates me.

"are you working hard or hardly work'n?": That was said to me so much when I was employed as a teenager that I just started replying with "neither".

"Suposibly"

"Ghosteses"

Misuse of words For example, my M.I.L calls deli/lunch meat 'luncheon' meat.  A luncheon is a freakin event, not a food!!!

ok, I'm better now :)

i am tearing my hair out trying to get my 11 year old to stop this habit before I have his mouth, like, wired shut.

sometimes I say "supposebly" to mimic Joey. Or "mind bottling" (will ferrell in that movie). hehehe People who know me get it.

I had good luck with my kids by responding to each "like" by asking, oh, it's not exactly the same but similar?. They got very annoyed by my constant pleasant question and neither uses like much - unless they are with, like, their friends. LOL

Did the same with "fixin' to" - oh, what is broken and in need of repair?

Oh trust me this WILL work.  My Dad used to do that to me when I was about 12 years old (many many moons ago).  I hated it and would have little tantrums that only a 12 year old girl can.  It didn't like stop me from using it though.

I always think of Joey when people say supposably.

I also love "It's a moo point... it's like a cow's opinion - it's moo."

 LOL I forgot that one!

on facebook people will write words that sound the same but have a different meaning, for example: " it is such a waist" um you mean waste right?, " i don't take anything for granite." no stupid its granted, there are so many others. everytime i read something like that i get very annoyed. sometimes i get so annoyed at how stupid some of my peers on facebook sound or act i want to get off facebook forever...but sadly i am addicted :(
