picnics, parties and barbeques....oh my!!!!

Quote  |  Reply
I've worked so hard since beginning of April.  I have lost 20 pounds.  I have 1 more pound to reach my goal and then will work on maintaining.  My issue right now... too many backyard barbeques and graduations parties.  I've been trying to stay away from dishes with mayo or other high fat, but find it hard.  Any advice on how you handle these outings?  I'm thinking of not eating at all...seems once I start, I figure...oh well.

Congrats on reaching your goal!  What I have been doing is loading up on salad and veggies and taking a small portion of the stuff I really want.  Everything in moderation.  The next day if I feel I didn't have the cals for that piece of cake I couldn't resist I workout at a higher intensity.  Good luck and happy summer!
Bring your own dish to share...try a spinach and shrimp salad.
I have the same problem with get-togethers and family dinners. I feel bad if I don't eat what is served when other people have worked so hard to make it. So I just have smaller portions and eat less than I normally do the rest of the day. It's tough!!!
Uh Oh.  me too. I just graduated from college, as did MANY of my friends back here at home.  needless to say, i've been doing pretty good with not going over board.  few beers, salad, maybe a burger or potato salad or something. i've been pretty proud of myself
YESTERDAY, however, i ate 2600 calories X-O
i decided to make it my non counting day. (i take one every 2 or 3 weeks so i dont go insane)  but at the end of the day i was so intrigued to see how many i had eaten that i logged.  and that's how much it came out to be.

i burned 2400 calories yesterday so it's not as bad as it COULD have been... but i was still disappointed. So... this morning i felt so gross that i got up, ate breakfast, got ready and went to the gym for 2 hours!

i just gotta remember to NOT go overboard on my non counting days. jeesh!

so in conclusion of this ridiculously long story, my advice is to not be like me and just eat in portions

who doesn't love a party?  if you can't enjoy the party, somehow it bothers us. so i say, enjoy a nice little bit of whatever you want and enjoy the party.  then get back with normal the very next meal.
Thanks all for the support.  I was eating smaller portions of why I wanted to try and did pick up on the exercise.  Guess I need to stop beating on myself.  Thanks, again
