Pilates question

Quote  |  Reply
Has anyone experienced gaining inches before losing inches when doing Pilates?  I recently started doing Pilates (20 min. workout - also walk 30-60 minutes daily) and my clothes feel as though they are getting tighter hip/thigh wise.  May be my imagination but thought I would ask for feedback.  Also, I did measure myself before I started and will do so after about a month so will know for sure at that time.

nope, that would be a new one! muscle takes up LESS space than fat.  Is your weight changing??
Nope--I do pilates 3 times a week--twice at a class & once at home --my weight hasnt really changed but my inches have went from size 12 to an 8--I love pilates
i don't think that is very unusual. You probably gained your muscle before losing fat.  Whenever I start on a workout plan i always gain some muscle before losing fat.  Just stick with it and you'll see everything go down!
maybe you are gaining muscle but not losing fat, i suggest adding some cardio before your pilates session
