Piles - not long term solutions, right now relief please

Quote  |  Reply

I know there have been topics like this in the past but they have been focused on the long term relief of piles.

I know the cause of mine, i know how to try and prevent them in the long run. But right now i have a pretty terribly sore one and im desperate for some right now relief form the pain.

I have "Ultraproct" cream that i have used, i dont really know much about it other than my doctor told me to apply it when i have piles. Ok done that. But im in pain!!

Is there anything else i can do right now to help with this.

I remember at one point reading that sitting in a bath might help, dont have a bath so cant try that. I have had a shower but obviously as im not sitting in the water, they cant soften so no relief.

Any other ideas for right now relief??

Ice packs are another option as a bath is not available. Like any other swelling, sometimes ice feels better and sometimes warmth feels better -- you just go with what feels right -- so a hot water bottle or heating pad might feel better than ice packs it depends.

Any of the NSAIDs assuming you can take them: acetaminophen, ibuprofen or ASA. Ibuprofen is often recommended for inflammation, but take what you know has worked for you.

Creams that contain witch hazel can numb the area a bit as well.

And obviously avoid sitting too long. And keep your fluids up really high to avoid any ongoing constipation.

Hope this helps and I am sorry you are in pain at the moment.

I have a cream called soov - it was initially perscribed for numbing my chill-blanes. Would this be ok to try and numb the area??

I didnt think of taking any type of pain relief medication would help but will go take some panadol now and hope that helps.

In the past they have only been this bad for a day or so, so hopefully by morning they will have gone down and be less painful. Doesnt help that im doing exams right now, so i am sitting the majority of the day.

Thank you so much for the advice. I also have a hot water bottle handy, as its still very winterish here, so will give that a go too.

Thanks so much

I'm half way around the world here (no soov here) but a quick check confirms that it is indicated for your current condition too and does have anesthetic properties so should be fine (assuming it hasn't expired).

And yes, panadol should hopefully give you some relief as well so go ahead and take that as indicated for the few days while it is at its worst. If you find it is not helping, perhaps pick up some ibuprofen -- some people respond better to it, others prefer the paracetamol.

Oh, when it rains it pours -- sucks to be writing exams in the middle of all of it! I certainly hope the pain subsides soon. Absolute best wishes to you.

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!!!!

Have taken both panadol and ibuprofen and am about to head off to bed. So hoping its better tomorrow. Not looking forward to sitting for upwards of 10 hours with this discomfort.

ANyway thank you again for the advice. Very helpful and very much appreciated!!

Ok so i posted this a few days ago?? and the situation is the same, no better, but no worse thankfully.

However, i am perscribed a stool softener to help with this ongoing problem, which i take once in the morning and once at night. I am terrified to take it because if terrified of making this pain any worse. I am chronically constipated and my stool is always ummmmmmmm hard. I am scared of having a bowel movement, i know that if i dont take the medication i wont have one, was hpoing that i would be much better by today and could start taking them without having to worry to much about pain. But im not better and i know that if i dont take them the problme will get worse and eventually i will have to start again so i can have a bowel movement, eeeeeeek.

Really dont know what to do, is having a bowel movement going to be a horribly painful experience and make the piles worse????

when I was preg I found.

run to the drug store.  grab a pack of condoms open 2 double them up then fill with some water and rubbing alcohol (or vodka).  freeze.   it will stay slushy apply to the area   easiest way  put on boycut panties  then put on reg. briefs put you slushy in between the 2.

or a maxi-pad wet and freeze

Hope this helps

I know you got the scrip but castrol oil will work too.  It's not going to feel great but you wont be be screaming.  drink a lot of water before and after to really soften.   and after you will feel so much better.

Oh remember dap not wipe.  babywipes are great just rince with warm water (you don't want the soaps or coldness)
