okay girls, I want to know how birth control has affected your bodies: weight gain, weight loss, no effects?? I am interested in seeing if there is a common theme among females taking birth control.

I am not a female, but birth control bills are notorious for contributing to weight gain.
The first pill I was on caused me to gain a few pounds, but once I switched to a low-dosage pill, it hasn't affected me at all.
i've been on seasonale (only 4 periods a year, yes!) for awhile, haven't noticed a difference in weight gain, or difficulty losing.
I am on this one that is supposed to help lose weight... or i guess it helps some people... I think its helped so far. I know there isnt weight gain...

Its brand name is alesse but i use the generic levlite.
Over the years (about 15 years), I've been on numerous Ortho brand BCPs.  All those resulted in a weight gain of about 10 to 20 pounds within 1 to 3 months (same weight was lost without trying within 1 to 2 months after discontinuing the pill), and seemed like it made it even harder to lose.

In January of this year, I started Yasmin, which so far I LOVE.  I have not gained weight, in fact LOST A FEW POUNDS, within the first few months of starting it (without trying to lose), and am currently on a "new" and hopefully smart diet and exercise plan and am successfully losing weight each week by eating sensibly and exercising, i.e., not doing anything crazy, and it does not seem harder than it should to lose.  Just my 2 cents.  Yasmin is definitely the best one I've ever tried, and I have tried at least a dozen others.

PS:  I also didn't have the 3-month hair shed with the Yasmin as with all other Ortho products, and some others which were non-Ortho, as well.  Not bashing Ortho here, just my experience. :-)

Good luck!
i started the pill almost two months ago. Have not gained anything that the pill contributed. I'm recovering from anorexia and i have no idea if that has anything to do with it, but I have been eating maitenence so its dandy.
I have been on desogen for about 4 years now. During that time I gained a significant amount of weight. Which I partially contribute to the pill but also to my eating habits. I was in college and ate out a lot. It certainly seems to make it harder for me to loose weight. For about 2 years I have been taking it continuously (4 periods per year). The weight gain was slow and came over time. I have recently decided to quit the pill in hopes that my reduced calorie diet and exercise plan will kick up the weight loss. Also, the side effects listed with my pill are: weight gain, weight gain, weight gain. Needless to say, everyones body reacts differently.

I have been on desogen for 6 years. My doctor started me on BC to help control my dysmennhorea (however it is spelled) and other problems. I may have gained a little bit of weight the first while I was on it, BUT it was my sophomore year of high school and I had just finished the last PE class I had to take - so I didn't do any other form of exercise at all for awhile. The most exercise I got was walking from my computer to the bathroom. :/

Once I started college I managed to drop back to my original weight because I was doing normal activity (taking stairs to classes and walking between buildings to classes) and once I started exercising regularly I dropped weight again. BC hasn't made it difficult for me to lose weight that I know of, but I've also been on it for quite awhile.

I was on the Pill for about 6 months a year ago.  I'm fairly sure it made me gain weight, what I didn't appreciate was 2 things:
1. I gained even more weight when I came off it, and
2. It made me depressed and emotionally all over the place, and it took me a good 2 months to get over that when I came off.

Obviously this doesn't happen to everyone but I felt so terrible at the time, I'll never be going back on it again.
It has been a very long time since I was on the pill, and all I can say positive about it is that I didn't get preggerz.  Any way, I gained 8 lbs. the first 2 months on.  My daughter, who is 17, gained the same amount.  Of course she topped out at 121 lbs.  She makes me sick, anyway, she was on the pill for 1 year, just to straighten out her cycle.  She lost 5 lbs. the first month off.  You may want to talk with your doctor about it if you have a significant amount of weight gain.

I have been on yasmin for about 3 years. I was on other ones before that, and thank god i never put on weight with any of them. The one thing I did find was that while I was one the other one's no matter what I did I couldn't lose weight, but on Yasmin, I have been able to lose weight.

The only thing I don't like about yasmin, is that it sometimes makes my emotions run riot, particuarly the week before my 7 day break.
