Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls!
Almost every night before bed, My bf and I would bake and split a can of Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls. Them babys are 370 Calories a pop!!! That means I was eating 1480 calories before bed. Thats more then i eat in a whole day now! No wounder why I gained 80 pounds. When I walk past them at the store I cringe in disgust.
What was one of your favorite indulgences that you can't believe you used to eat daily?!?
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Foods forum
Nice post idea! It is amazing how we realize what is actually going into our bodies once we know what is healthy.... some of bad stuff I used to eat A LOT:
full fat mochas w/ whipped cream (complete with a glazed donut!)
Rockstar energy drink
Cheesecake, brownies, McFlurries
McDonalds
Extremely greasy quesedillas with loads of cheese and full fat sour cream
Ugh, it just makes me sick to think about it! I want to get eat a nice green salad now lol
It makes me angry! why the heck do companys make "foods" that are nothing but junk and have hardly any nutritonal value. Im so happy that I decided to make a healthy change in my life.
I love to bake... so all the cookies, brownies, cakes, and breads I used to make.... (I still make them for others I just dont them that often)....
mash potatoes was another big one for me (butter, cream, and cheese)
fast food and bagels (who wouldve thought a bagel was 300+ calories and a donut is only 200+)
Well I use to eat whatever I wanted and went back for seconds all the time. But the 2 foods that really stick out in my mind were cereal and poptarts. I would eat Huge bowls of frosted mini wheats or eat like 2 packs of the chocolate poptarts at a time. That was 900 cals and these were snacks for me. Im still shocked by how much I use to eat with out even noticing.
Pizza, Pizza and Pizza - at least 3 times a week.
Icecream almost every day.
Margharitas - almost 400-500 cals each (oh, how I miss it!)
Now I can't bring myself to eat pizza because it is such a calorie suck.
Caribou Coffee Large Vanilla Latte . . . loved those. Now as a treat I will sometimes order the small skinny latte with sugar free flavoring - only about 100 calories.
Dove chocolates - used to eat them all day at work, esp. in the winter. Each little piece is 44 calories so they add up! Now, as a treat and if my calorie allowance allows, I will eat just two. I take two out of the bag and set them out, a mental note to myself that that is all I can have - rather than continually reaching into the bag for one more . . .
I don't believe in cutting much out of my diet - that could lead to a binging disaster. Rather, I like to take things in moderation. Have that piece of cheesecake, but only have 1/4 to 1/2 the size you did before.
starbucks
pizza
chinese food
candy (esp. reeses!)
and i agree, it makes me angry too! i recently went to TGIFridays where they (thankfully) post all their calorie info. my one time favorite seasame crusted chicken salad (salad!) was over 1300 cals!!! how is that okay??
Starbucks Mocha Frappuccinos
Mr. Noodles - very high in fat and salt
KFC Chicken Burgers, Fries and Gravy
The noodles I can't stand any more but the frappuccinos and KFC would still be slight weaknesses though I feel like crap afterward. Those 3 were practically all I ate in Grade 12, no wonder I gained 50 lbs in one year
Cheese! Just mountains of cheese. In sandwiches, on crackers, on top of pasta, in sauces... cheese everywhere! I still love cheese, and I still eat it - in moderation :)
I almost keeled over in shock in the supermarket the other day when out of curiosity I had a look at the cals per biscuit in a digestive biscuit (you know, the type you can make homemade cheescake bottom from) - 97 per biscuit.
I can recall eating at least 6 or 7 of those bad boys in a sitting! Man alive
Mmm those Starbucks Frappuccinos are sooo good!! Haven't had one in awhile but I sure think about them when I drive by a Starbucks.
My weakness was candy, candy, candy. I would buy candy just for the sake of buying it and keep loads of it at work and at home. Loved to shop after Halloween, Valentine's Day, Christmas and just buy it b/c it was on sale. People came to my office b/c they knew I had candy. Everytime we went to the store I had to go down that candy aisle to see if something new had came out. I had to try everything new! lol. I would go to Big Lots too b/c they had junk food for much cheaper than Walmart! Now I enjoy candy from time to time but I am no longer addicted to it...thank God!
every time i would go to the supermarket, i would purchase a box of those glazed donut holes from entemans. they'd be almost gone by the time i got home; and what was left over was shoved under the seat for the next car trip. OMG!!![]()
Food...just food in general. even if it wasn't all that great tasting, i wanted it...
I don't even look at the stuff anymore, but soda was definitely my crutch. I remember it got to the point where I would think to myself "Gee, I haven't touched water in two weeks!" and then I would actually laugh it off and grab another large glass of coke. Then I just decided I needed to stop.
That was January 1st, and I've completely broken the addiction, the thought of any soda makes me sick and I even have nightmares now where I'm drinking it lol. Now, I only drink water, unsweetened tea, and low sugar juices.
There was a time where I could eat the entire FAMILY SIZE bag of Twizzlers (no wonder I was working my but off and not seeing ANY results). I would usually have a big bottle (8 glasses) of white zinfindel in the process
. So glad I'm over that....
I didn't eat these everyday, but I did eat them a lot. Chocolate cake donuts with sweet sugary glaze from my local bakery. They are...so heavenly. I would probably eat 2+ a day when I bought a box. Whenever I plan a cheat day, I'm workin' one of these babies into my day. ♥
Also, RANCH. The full fat kind. I would put it on EVERYTHING! That kind of stuff really adds up.
And..butter/margarine. I would never measure it, I'd just throw a huge chunk of it in everything.
I used to go bonkers on those Asian Noodle bowls! they wre about 640 clas and I'd eat one for lunch then my late night snack. EVERYDAY!! They are so good, though.
Oh, and Big Texas Cinnemon Rolls! 440 cals a pop! I'd would eat about 3 of those a day before I actually read the serving information!
I have found a not too bad pastry treat. They are called Mrs. Browns Pecan Rolls. Each roll is 100 cals and they come in a pack of three. The rolls aren't too small either. I have them with my cup o joe for my sweet snack in the afternoon. I allow myself about 350 cal for selfish sweet treats a day!
An XL iced cap from Tim Hortons and an everything bagel w/ cream cheese. Uggg, I can feel my arteries closing up.
I still indulge in the iced cap a couple times a year but I ask them to make it with their 1% chocolate milk instead of cream, and I only get a small :o)
i used to love to bake. if i got in a bad mood i'd do the stereotypical woman thing, take the bowl of freshly made dough with me over to the tv and eat. w/e survived would be baked and soon eaten as well. now i'm too poor to buy baking ingredients anyways, low cal or not
It really is eye opening to realize how many calories I used to eat as a child. No wonder I put on so much weight over the years. I wouldn't think twice about having a chocolate bar and pop for snack, or ice cream everyday when I got home from school. My dad would bring home MacDonalds twice a week sometimes. Gross! Also if people used to offer me muffins, chocolate or cookies I would say "sure!' and accept without thinking. Now I politely refuse and sometimes they look at me like I have two heads followed by "why not?"- that can get mildly annoying!
