Arrrggghhh! I'm so frustrated, after eating really healthily for two weeks and losing 4lbs in the last week, I feel I have just let myself down by endulging (too much) in my favourite food - Pizza.  Although I enjoyed it, after logging on to calculate the calories i realise it sooooo wasn't worth it... I suppose there's nothing I can do but write this day off and try and remember this next time I think pizza sounds like a good idea.

Does anyone else feel like this about other foods? What do you do when you crave one thing above all other foods?  Should you have the occasional write-off day or endulge sparingly?

I also have a weakness for pizza (and Chinese food, but that one's not as bad). It's one of the things I look forward to eating at some point every week. But I know what you mean; it can be frustrating when you try to stick to a plan and all of a sudden you stray.

At this point, all you can do is write it off and get back to your plan tomorrow. You may experience a temporary bounce back up in weight, but get back to your program and you'll be back to normal within several days.

But if you enjoy pizza, maybe you might want to include it as part of your plan. If you are one of those who would rather just indulge in pizza, then compensate for the extra calories by getting in a little extra activity that day, or but cutting back (only) a little bit on your other meals (but not too much, I don't suggest that you starve yourself for this one treat).

If you can handle it, indulge sparingly. That way you'll be able to stay within your daily caloric requirements without having to sacrifice elsewhere during the day or week.

But I think that it's important to include one or two meals a week where you can allow yourself these treats. Denying yourself these things will only make you unhappy or resentful, which may lead to binging or other eating behaviors that could easily undo all of the work you have been putting in during the week.

OMG I LOOOOOOVE PIZZA!!! And cheezies. They are the devil. It would be unrealistic for me to try to never eat it, but what I do now is make myself earn it - only if I'm down weight for the week and have a hard workout that day (at least enough cardio to burn the calories I eat) then I let myself eat pizza. I just bought some whole wheat pizza dough from the bakery and am going to try to make my own slightly more healthy pizza. Hopefully it will taste good enough to satisfiy my pizza monster!

I love pizza and I work at a pizza place!!  Right now I am making my own flat bread pizza and it's really a good replacement for the bad stuff.

2 low cal Flat Breads= 180 cal

1/4 cup marianara=40 cal

3oz lowfat part skim mozzerella=240 cal

3/4 cup morningstar sausage crumbles= 90 cal

mushrooms, green peppers and a couple olives

total= 570 calories and you get two whole pizzas!!  It's very filling and I don't have to feel guilty.

This is one of those pot calling kettle black opportunities.  I am a sucker for pizza.  While I still sneak it from time to time, I will offer up what my weight loss buds have offered me...some advice that I have not heeded, but it sounds like its about right.

Rumor has it that if you have a gourmet pizza place in your area and wheat crust is available, you are half way home free.  Add veggies, not meat.

Again...I say what is the point if its not going to have italian sausage and extra cheese, but these options could help you quench your desire with a lesser degree of self destruction.

Best of luck to all of us...Why am I salivating as I type this note?

Cheers,

JTH

Omg... I feel that way a lot. It usually depends on the foods around that are tempting me, but I'm a huge sugar addict, so I can sit and dream about cupcakes for hours. Yummy gourmet cupcakes, like the kind I used to make. They're  a pain for me to actually go and buy (or buy the ingredients and make myself) so I don't splurge on those. I will crave sugar foods, so I've decided to slow down the sugarness by reserving about 400 calories of my daily 1400 for sugar foods, and it's helped a lot!

When endulging too much though, it's gotta be Oreos + peanut butter or peanut butter/Nutella sandwiches. Oh yeah

I'm guilty of loving pizza.. infact it's Lab week here at my job and of course we had pizza.. I just finished snacking on some.. I know i'm not going to give pizza up,..so I think i'll end up making my own pizza and adding veggies and maybe sneak a piece of pepperoni?!? yea? okay i'll try not to lol .... I dont eat pizza to often so when I do, I usually go all out, which is the problem i'm working on now!

Thank you all - glad I'm not alone in my (pizza) cravings :) and thank you foreverme24 for the recipe - gonna give that a go next time I get a hankering for pizza.

I'm not a huge pizza person but the other day I wanted it so I used a tortilla, just put sauce, low fat mozz cheese mushrooms and a TINY bit of sausage on it.  That hit the spot.

we get frozen thin crust pizzas by digorno or California, they are way lower than regular pizza and super good.

i know what you mean. pizza is a craving for me, but not a #1. i like sugarey, dessert things more. usually i eat less at dinner- i know, it sounds really diifciult especially when fmailies are encouraging you to ea tmroe and hae heaping plates themselves. but i eat a small portion then wash my dish and sit back down. now i can't be urged to eat mroe-i've explained that i'm done. and then 30 mins-1 hr later i am able to eat 2 treats. maybe an 150-calorie ice cream cone or an 100-calorie oreos pack. if i eat a light dinner i can evn eat  2 of those sometimes!

Tip: brush your teeth early so you won't be as tmepte dot eat extra snacks late at ngiht.

a piece of sugarless gum or a teaspoon of oliv eoil curbs hunger. stay busy to prevent eating because of bordom!

When there's a food I feel like I just have to have, I have it, I just try to make sure I make the healthiest choice I can.  I like pizza.  I'm not willing to spend the calories on traditional fat-city pizza though.  So I order thin crust, veggies, chicken breast, and no cheese.  If I have to have a touch of cheese, I sprinkle a small amount of parmesan on.  Even with the parmesan, I have found that I can eat about 3 pieces for the calories of one slice of cheese and peporoni, for example.  It still tastes delicious, and I get more bang for my buck.
