pizza + peanut butter = disaster

Quote  |  Reply

Hey,

I kinda in the middle of losing weight. I didn't count calories, but I try to change for a better lifestyle. I'm doing swimming during this season and I swim 8 times a week (14 hours a week). Today, the power around my dorm went out and since we are high school student in the dorm, they ordered pizza for the entire dorms. This is when my disaster come in to play..

Breakfast: 1 of 200 calories bagel + some powder egg (around 100 calories) + a small bite of a 2 inches banana muffin (very small bite)

Lunch: 2 slice 12 grain bread + 2 slice turkey

Snacks: 1 apple + half cup kashi cereal and half cup non fat soymilk mix with 2 tablespoon non fat yogurt (milk + yogurt = amazing!!)

Dinner :(  - 2 slice cheese pizza WITHOUT the crust + almost 2 slice white bread (that's all they have) and 1 tbsp peanut butter......

plus, an orange

and no swimming today because we suppose to have a meet, but the power from the entire area went down.

I didn't really count calories, but how bad is the dinner!! I skip the cake, and ended up with peanut butter instead!!!! (and those white bread too!!!!) UGH!!!! I'm frustrated! I gained sooooo much weight from my lowest weight during swimming season because I don't have enough time to go out to eat and I was very hungry after the practice so I have to eat school food...and they didn't really care to make it healthy at all! Sorry for the long post. But this is very frustrated!!

It's one day. Cool it.

Get back on track tomorrow and you'll be fine.

I know how you feel! I feel sooo guilty after not eating completely healthy one day or mayboe not going to the gym!

I just got a 2nd job - I'm hostessing/waitressing at night and I'm not getting out until 10 or 11pm. This past Saturday, I got out of work and was STARVING ( i had only eaten about 900 calories that day so far and it was too busy for me to have any snacks).

Well- the staff had pizza in the back and offered me some. I ate two pieces INCLUDING the crust and I was not hungry anymore!

Guilty? A little- but the scale says I only gained a pound which can also be muscle or water weight...don't stress. You're supposed to treat yourself one day a week - not by eating a WHOLE pizza- but depriving yourself will do no good...

Don't worry. Be happy.

aw dont worry about it girl its fine its probably just water weight you cant gain any pounds that will turn into fat within one day tomorrow you should go back to your normal weight you were that morning.. btw ive read some of your posts about ur roomate i hope your doing good now you know with her being the bully that she is lol anyways good luck with all :)

thank you so much for your concern. I have a new roommate this year and she is very very supportive. She herd what I have been through and she has been very kind to me!!

I guess pizza and peanut butter once in a while wouldn't hurt! Smile

aw your welcome dear and thats soo great to hear you got a new roomate! i agree lol of course it good to have little treat every once in a while :D hehe.

So pizza without crust, in other words just cheese and toppings with sauce? Honestly it's not that bad. I went for lunch today with some labmates. I brought mine with me as usual, but as usual they ordered. One had two huge slices of pizza, everyone else had different pastas. These huge plates with some kind of cheese based dressing that was drowning everything and anything. That was just lunch! In comparison even your worst day is better then their usual one. :)

Uhm..I have to agree with you. My friend all eat at least 3 (some girls eat 2 but still..). My other friend ate 5 or 6. My other friend eats all the crusts (everyone will tear off the crust parts and hand them to her!). And most people ended with a piece of chocolate cake....uhm....you are right. My bad day is probably even better than their normal days!

The real disaster was in my head as I was imagining peanut butter spread on pizza!  Laughing

Why is that bad? If anything you don't eat enough for the amount of exercise you do! A 'disaster' would be half a pizza and half a jar of peanut butter, not one tablespoon of the stuff.

I didn't really count calories, but how bad is the dinner!! I skip the cake, and ended up with peanut butter instead!!!! (and those white bread too!!!!) UGH!!!! I'm frustrated! I don't think you eat enough on a daily basis, let alone this "binge."  You are short and very thin AND only 16 PLUS you are highly, highly active.  I'd say yesterday you easily ate under 1500 calories.  Just because you didn't swim THAT day, doesn't mean your metabolism isn't reved up since you swim so much other days.

You are 16, 5'1 and weigh 106 pounds.  You are active; you are borderline very active.  You need to eat 2200 calories to maintain your weight if you are active, 2700 if you are very active; I wouldn't eat less than 1700 calories a day if I were you, AND I would eat a lot more protein.  You are still growing and from your post and your profile you may have an unhealthy relationship with food (this is just from what I read in those few paragraphs, sorry if I'm making assumptions).  I realize that our culture may be different and perhaps there is more pressure on you to be thin (you are from asia and going to school here, correct?) but there is a point where you are TOO thin, and you don't want to deny yourself nutrition while you are still growing, which you are.  Besides, you may find yourself losing weight even better if you up your calories.

dovelette-

Yes, my relationship with food is a little weird, but it has been much better since last year. I eat a LOT through out the day...a bagel and 2-3 slice of bread AT VERY MINIMUM almost everyday and I'm actually enjoying them. It's just that, now my nutritionist told me to shed pounds without counting calories.....and she does not tell me how. Undecided She just says, "eat normally" and all that so I'm in the middle of trying to figure everything out.

But do I really need THAT much calories a day? Because I'm gaining weight here.....now I'm up at 120 lbs! (maybe some water weight but that's still a lot)

2700 calories a day seems pretty a lot...even though I have no intention in going back to count calories, but that seems to be a high number...

But again, thank you for your opinion, though. I'll think about what you guys have suggested.

After you said that..I think I should try putting peanut butter and jelly on pizza dough instead of cheese and pizza sauce. Or maybe I will try put all of them together...wonder how that would come out....Laughing

How many calories do you typically eat a day? You are young and active and need to be sure you are getting enough. I don't think you are going over at all looking at your food choices.

Not bad. Pizza is OK if you make it a healthy pizza. Try half the cheese, veggies instead of pepperoni or sausage and blot the top of the pizza with a napkin to remove excess grease. Many pizza places have whole grain crust now and natural ingredients.

Peanut butter is also good for you in moderation. You can make healthy choices there also. Buy natural peanut butter. I eat peanut butter a few days a week and pizza once or twice a week.

If you consider eating 1 tbsp of PB a disaster, you should speak to a mental health professional.
