pizza, can someone plz clarify!?
A slice of cheese pizza is NOT 141 calories. It can't be. But that is what calorie count claims. Can someone clarify exactly how many calories a slice of cheese pizza actually is?
Thanks.
There is no way to say. Every slice of pizza is different. It varies greatly depending on the crust. Thick or thin, white or wheat, amount of cheese, type of cheese, amout and type of meat, sauce, veggies, oil used in sauce. On and on.
I find it is better to look at the nutritional stats on the website of the pizzeria you got it from. (Though this only works for popular chain pizza stores normally.) But, yes, 141 calories is quite low. I would have though anywhere betweeen 300-450 for the average normal white thick crust pizza slice. (This is likely off though.) Of course, I say, don't worry about it. It's okay to be off your calorie limit every once in a while! Enjoy!
Oh how I miss pizza.....Lately I've just been getting Healthy Choice's french bread pizza or any tv dinner one for that matter. That way I know for sure how many calories I'm taking in and can eat my pizza without the guilt.
damn - i totally want pizza for dinner now!
i know one of the best things about pizza is having someone bring it to you. But it isn't really that hard to make yourself, and then you have total control over all the ingredients! I have been making individual 6 inch veggie pizza, with only a little cheese. Delicious, and less than 300 calories!
I can't do pizza because I have no control. I'll have a slice and the next think I know I've eaten half a pizza. It's best for me to stay away from it except for an occasional cheat meal or on vacation.
I slice of pizza is usually about 350 calories. At least, at my school that's what they say they are. But, it depends how thin the crust is, and the amount of cheese and pepperoni in it. Try to get thin crust and with less cheese.
An italian style pizza (thin crust, not the Naples deep crust variety) with tomato sauce and cheese is between 500 and 600 calories for the whole pizza. Almost every calorie counting website in Europe/Italy lists a similar number. So if you were to slice that pizza into 4 large slices you would get a similar number to what CC says. Also, CC lists the grams associated with that slice of pizza, so be careful that the slice you're eating is not heavier than the CC slice.
In the States, lots of pizza restaurants put extra oil, double cheese and other fillers in the pizza. There is no way to know how many calories are in an individual slice unless you use the restaurant's nutrition info (if it is available).
Last thought: two ounces of bread is around 150 calories. Add cheese and tomoato sauce and you have a slice of pizza.
A typical 12" frozen cheese pizza is about 1600 calories. That makes a 1/8 slice 200 calories. The calories change by the ratio of areas, so for a 10" pizza a 1/8 slice is 140 calories; a 14" pizza 1/8 slice is 270 calories.
wow! this is all so very helpful! Places that I get my pizza from def don't have any nutritional info available. : / But it is very thin crust, but a whole lot of cheese, lol. I'll take it in to consideration the next time I want to down half a pie.
Thanks again!
Pizza is my favorite food, even frozen pizza. Pizza is usually very high calorie -- just look at the calorie counts on the pizza in the frozen food aisle. Even the smallest individual pizzas are usually over 1,000 calories, I think, but some may be just under that. I buy the smallest ones I can find to keep the quantity under control...I've noticed there are more individual or one-person serving pizzas on the market. The calorie labels on those ought to give you some idea of the calorie count on whatever pizza it is that you want to eat, or at least get you in the ballpark.
I just found a listing that said this for Pizza Hut pizza. Again, this could you give a ballpark estimate.
One slice of a 12-inch medium hand-tossed cheese pizza is 240 calories, 8 g fat.
One slice of 12-inch medium pan cheese pizza is 280 calories, 13 g fat.
One slice of 12-inch medium pan pepperoni lover's pizza is 340 calories, 19 grams of fat.
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
