Oh my Gosh... don't even MENTION pizza. lol.

I don't know what it is, I think for me it's definitely the crust, tomato sauce and cheese... and pretty much any type of topping. LOL. That really narrowed it down. I will eat any kind of pizza no matter what toppings there are. Sometimes at night when I'm trying to sleep and I have a craving, I think about eating a huge slice of pizza and try to think about the smell, texture, and taste. Sometimes if I think about it hard enough it can kill my craving! WEIRD.

Well I crave pizza all the time! We always get Little Caesars because it is cheap and really good!

Why is EVERYTHING loaed with bad fats and high in calories, so so good?

mmmm, the perfect combo of tomato sauce, cheese and bread.  yummy!

i love pizza- sometimes when i want to indulge but still not feel TOO guilty ill have:

1. bertuccis- seems healthier than other types of pizza, thinner crust, less greasy

2.  thin crust from dominoes- the pieces are so thin and i think they are tastier than their other pizzas.  doesnt feel as heavy as other pizzas out there

This thread actually just gave me an idea for lunch tomorrow...

I love pizza SO MUCH. I made my own once before like this: I have whole wheat pitas that are only 90 cals and I'll put some tomato sauce on it. Then I'll grate some cheese over it and then put whatever toppings I want on top! Tomorrow I'm going to use some chicken strips and some green and red peppers. Then stick it in the microwave oven so it gets warm and the cheese melts! I LOVE IT.

YEAH HEALTHY PIZZA.

I love pizza in every size, shape & flavor. Luckily for me, my favorite is vegetarian. Unluckily for me, I have a hard time stopping at just one or two pieces.

I like to make my own pizza. I make the pizza crust from scratch and then add tons of veggies, (sometimes I add chicken strips) and can control the cheese. Lots of spinach, tomatoes, onions, olives, green/red/yellow peppers, mushrooms, etc. It becomes a mountain of goodies. When I make my own I can have just 1 piece because it's piled high with tons of veggies. Hmmm, I need to make it again soon! Thanks for reminding me.

Edit: I remembered that I also love making taco pizza too.  Refried beans, black beans, ground beef (cooked with a packet of taco seasoning), jalapeños, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, etc.   Much higher fat content than veggie, but better than the standard pizza.

Hey good job on only two slices. Half the pizza is gone with me!!!
And why is the best type the thick calorific type???

And WHY oh WHY does it taste so good COLD!!! So you cant even save it for later - its sooo good straight out of the fridge.

*sigh* ;)

Because it's warm, cheesy, gooey, easy to bite into bread.

-drool-

two pieces isn't that bad I ate 2,000 calories of pizza yesterday Cry

I remember a few years ago before I got pregnant with my son, I could order and eat a whole large pepporoni pizza (I'd give the crusts to my dog and 'share' it with him) and not gain one ounce. Maintained 105 pounds. I never knew how lucky I was....

I still eat pizza but only one slice at a time now :(

Because over the course of history, the people that ate the most calories were the biggest, strongest people, and therefore the ones that passed on their genes. As a result, human tastebuds are now hardwired to favor calorie-dense foods, like pizza. We have thousands of generations of breeding working against us.

My belief is because it is not good for us.  All foods that taste soooo good are bad for us. :(

Pizza is my absolute fave food EVER!!! I am like the rest of you in that I could EASILY eat half or more of a pizza by myself.

But if you think about it, pizza is not that bad for you---you have got just about every category of food covered (depending on toppings)

  • Carbohydrates (crust)
  • Dairy (cheese)
  • Protein (meat, and the cheese too)
  • Veggies

and even possibly:

  • Fruit (even if you don't put pineapples on your pizza, there is usually something that YOU like that can go nicely with the rest of you toppings)

So I have discovered that I CAN work pizza into my diet, only I makes it myself. I use a whole wheat crust (homemade, store-bought, mix, or even a pita or wrap), low-fat cheese, lean meats (chicken, turkey, even salmon can be good), and load on the veggies. You can even get low-carb or organic sauce, and use alot of that too.

Sure it takes more effort, but usually it tastes BETTER and is more guilt-free!!!!

Try it!

The chewy crust, the gooey cheese, the flavorful sauce, the salty pepperoni...  Aww, hell.   Cry

I love it all.  But I compromise and make pita pizza, which is actually very good.  The "single" serving is helpful, vs. ordering a whole (even small) pizza and not stopping until it's GONE.  Everything in moderation, I know, but it's so hard to stop with pizza - hot OR cold!

LaughingPizza is so good. I actually made one today, with whole wheat crust, low fat cheese, barilla sauce, peppers, onions, squash and chicken. It was easy yummy and healthy. yay for pizza.

Oh my god, don't get me started.

I have an addiction, I go to my pizzaria about 3-4 times a week.  It doesn't help that they like me and give me extra either.

I even moved to a different town and still manage to go just as much despite being twice as far away.

I've gone 3 days without, wish me luck.

Ok, i'm going to be the nerd and give a bit of a scientific reason:-)

Pizza (and most fast foods) are very high in glutamates (foods like cheese (occur naturally), tomato sauce etc).  We have a taste receptor called the umami receptor which glutamates stimulate directly therefore the food containing it tastes really good:-)  It's so difficult to only have only one piece of pizza cos glutamates also stimulate the hypothalamus in the brain (which regulates apetite) and therefore induces apetite!!

And there you have it!!  My nerd duties are done for the day:-)

Im ready to accept the fact that i cant leave pizza because of what elle153 said... so im ready to embrace the pizza, in a sense, become one with it

Why couldn't God make pizza be good for us!? haha... I haven't had pizza in months... oh boy ;)
