Places to take Out-of-Town Guests
We take ours to our favorite restaurants, to Kerry Park for the view, and of course, Pike Place.
I love taking people to the international district and more specifically I love taking people to Uwajimaya. And of course Pike Place is a definite must for anyone from out of town.
I'm not sure I've ever had out-of-town guests to show around, or at least not since I've been living outside of home. However, depending on the age and interests of the guests, I might take them to all the regular attractions, as well as any local festivals (Folklife, Bumbershoot, any of the Festal or Seafair stuff) but maybe I'd do a tour of the less touristy neighborhoods, like Fremont (keeping it weird...), Wallingford, the U District, and the International District. There's so much to see, do and eat in terms of unique experiences.
I like to take people to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. It's never too crowded, the animals are happy, and it's doable in one day. Love the walruses and the beluga whales best.
I had a friend visit from RI a few years ago. We did SAM and SAAM museums, the aquarium, pike place, international district including uwajimaya, and a couple other things I'm sure I'm forgetting, lol.
The touristic stuff is fine and all....but I try to take friends and family to obscure places...Dungeness Spit, Troll Haven, Olympic Farms, Olympic Rain Forest, Ice Caves...ect
