How do YOU use it??

I use it in smoothies. Take some fresh fruit put it in the blender along with some yogurt and blend. Next time you are at the checkout stand at the grocery store check out the magazines and recipebooks they have there you should see a book on smoothies. these are great if you are running late. I have found if you freeze the fruit the nite before it makes for a thicker smoothie.

I use it as a substitute for sour cream in dips and baking. I also eat it with honey and/or fruit.

I eat it (almost every day!) with fruit or a small amount of granola/nuts.  Sometimes with a drizzle of honey or agave nectar. Mmm.
It's great as a substitute for mayo in recipes like tuna salad. Just mix in a little mustard (and some relish i using for a tuna melt) to your liking with a tablespoon of yogurt for about 4 oz of tuna.

I use in smoothies and mixed with fruit.  You can sweeten it with Splenda or you favorite sugar substitute and you can flavor it with almond/vanilla extract or even some cocoa powder.  I prefer plain.  Now, I gotta try the tuna salad suggestion.. Thanks for this post!

As well as the dessert ideas.... I stir a tablespoon in to some home-made curries right at the end of cooking when the heat is off.  Gives them a creamy texture and a slight tang.  And as a sandwich/salad dressing... a tablespoon of plain yoghurt mixed with a teaspoon of good quality pesto sauce is fantastic.
Sometimes I actually eat it by itself, but usually I mash a banana in it, add a bit of vanilla and cinnamon. YUM!

Or, I buy frozen berries and use that instead of bananas.

i eat it plain, or if i am very hungry or just want alot of yogurt i mix 1 plain yogurt with another lowfat flavored brand. i think most yogurts are too sweet. this makes it less so and is a healthy way to make more food, cause i just enjoy eating. or i have said before maple syrup is the best.

mix it with fruit or oatmeal

I've started buying the large tub of 0% Greek yogurt plain.  It does double as a very excellent and delicious FF sour cream.  I also take some of it and strain it out further to make cream cheese.  It makes unbelievably rich, smooth, creamy, tasty cream cheese, fat free, that kicks the butt of the FF crap being marketed as "cream cheese."  I take part of it and add honey and vanilla and use that in oatmeal stirred in after cooking or with fruit/nuts/granola/cereal, etc. combos.  I mix it with vanilla and honey or maple syrup and use it as a homemade pancake topping.  It's not only healthy and loaded with protein, but also economical as I buy 1 product now instead of 3!

Mix it with fruit/certain cerials in

Pour over cerial instead of milk

Eat on its own

Mix it with fruit then pour into a lolly tray and freeze

Thanks! Great ideas.

So far I've tried mixing it in fruit and also making curry with it.

I wonder if it would be too thick for a yogurt smoothie...

I tried a spoon of it alone.... its actually kinda sour eh? Does anyone else find that?

Lastly.... I opened it 2 days ago. And now there is a layer of water on top of the yogurt. Do you guys usually just ignore and spoon it into your bowl.... or drain it out first?

This plain yogurt texture seems harder/more jello-ish/more shape than my normal stirred fruit yogurt.
the other night I dipped slices of granny smith apples in plain yogurt and for some weird reason I got this great flavor.  It didn't taste like plain yogurt any longer.

If you make potatoe or macaroni salad, mix mayo with plain yogurt to reduce the calories.
If you bought very low fat or 'virtually fat free' yoghurt it can have quite a sharp taste.  Next time try the regular (i.e. not low-fat) yoghurt.  The calorie and fat content is almost the same but it has a much less acidic flavour.  Check you didn't get 'set' yoghurt.... that's got a firmer texture as the name suggests.  Any liquid that settles on top can be stirred back in before using.

I just have a few questions concerning some of the yogurts I have come across at my local organic health-food store.
wondering if you all have tried any of them and if they are worth a shot?!!

soy-o
Wallaby
Brown Cow
horizon
Stonyfield Farms
Redwood Hill farm

there are many other private label brands I think that I also haven't tried
i looove fage but was just wondering about some others..
do you guys have favorites?
I like dannon light and fit but it's SOO processed that I think i just want to keep it more natural you know?

Thumbs up on stonyfield and brown cow. Horizon has a less good reputation for treating the animals.
