PLane and gain?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm leaving at 5am tomorrow for a 6 hour flight.  I'll probably get some smoothie at the airport, maybe some instant breakfast shake at home, eggs, something, idk, but what should I bring for the plane?

Honestly, when I went to China (over 17h of flight), I thought I would die:

The food was so nasty!

I'll bring the whole fridge if I were you...

The two that come to mind for me as the best options would be energy bars and trail mix.

Energy bars - Larabar, Clif, Luna, etc.

Trail mix - nuts, dried fruit, dry cereal and if you want feel free to add in M&Ms, chocolate chips or hard preztels, etc.

Some other ideas would be whole grain crackers, cookies, vegetables, sandwiches, etc.

I don't know if you saw my post about a week ago on here.  Subject was something like "long flight" (15 hours for mine).  Interesting ideas were posted; even pancakes, I think.

Well, it all depends on the airline you're flying with. When I was at my most ill, I was traveling and had to have my snack on the plane. When I came through the security check, they tried telling me NO food was allowed unless it was a solid, and i a sealed package. Well, at the time I was pretty much surviving on Muscle Milk, which I had two of, as well as an apple and yogurt. They tried to not let me take it throughwhen me mom let loose on them:P they let me through with it all in the end, hahahaha:D anywho...............I think they've lightened the rules up so dont worry.

i would suggest.........bars.......fruit.........cere al (you can pre-pack in a bowl) oh!!!! and a nice latte or steamer or something from Starbucks in the airport (i think allllllllllll airports have them, right?!) you can also make sandwiches or wraps and pack them up in a bag. lotsa options!!!! dont worry about that nasty plane food!

Hmm they havent lightened the rules to much you still cant take through drinks or yogurts.

I had a flight a while back that involved me missing breakfast and there was no food on this flight so I made a batch of pancakes the night before and took those on with me and then I took some soft cheese wedges to spread on top. Make yourself up some sandwiches, fruit +nut mixes, energy bars, if you want to you could even try making up an omelette the night before so its all ready to go just put it into a little tupperwear box. Dry cereal to snack on etc.

Just as long as you arent taking through liquids really and if your going to a country where you cant take any fruit etc into it just make sure you eat it on the plane.

HEED MY WORDS.

Entenmann's Cheese filled Coffee Cake.

Bring it on the plane. Eat it. The whole thing, over 6 hours.

You are here to gain weight, this is your opportunity to do it. DO IT. It will be freaking delectable.

Bring non-perishable, calorie-dense food items.

  • PB&J sandwich(s) (i wouldn't bring meats/cheese if they're going to be sitting around for a really long time)
  • dried fruit
  • trail mix
  • cereal (in ziplock bag)
  • protein bars
  • granola bars
  • crackers/chips/cookies (snack type foods)
  • gatorade or juice
Don't forget to stay hydrated, too.  Hydration is very important, and so is making sure your electrolytes & blood sugar stay stable.  Don't forget napkins also.  Just try to relax, bring something to read or listen to your ipod. You're doing great!  Planning ahead is important.
