Plane Ride

Quote  |  Reply

I'm going to Rome from the US on Saturday and wanted to see if anyone had any ideas on how to avoid getting stiff or as stiff during the flight. I'm not used to sitting around so much.

TIA

You should be allowed to get up and walk around in intervals.  I think there is a jet lag diet to follow to avoid feeling gross after the flight.

Definitely get up, walk around, and when you are sitting, move your ankles, knees, wrists, arms as much as possible to help with stiffness and swelling.

And drink lots of water. Avoid alcohol because it can dehydrate you. Get up at least once an hour and walk the aisle.

I went from NYC (nj actually) to London and most people slept..  I did not =/
I felt the Jet Lag the following morning.

But to your question, move around a bit as others have said.  Those planes are bigger then normal.  Two isles if I recall..  its benn  a few years..
Anyway have a exciting trip and a safe flight!

I definitely make it appoint to fidget a lot when I am on long plane flights - and I always make sure I have an aisle seat so I can get up whenever I want without having to leap over 2 or 3 other people! ha ha.

Good Luck! You will have so much fun in Rome, I am jealous!

+1 to what everyone else has said. Try flexing your leg muscles and abs while sitting, if you don't sleep. And try to walk at least once per hour.

I had a 16hr flight from the east coast to Japan. Ended up with huge, swollen ankles lol. I didn't know any better at the time. Good luck, have fun!
