Planet Fitness?
I was a member over a year- only issue is their policies (if you are a normal person you will never have these but if your a gym rat you might) otherwise get fit for low costs. I would bring some cleaner/ wipes if its a busy place- I never saw a lot of cleaning while there like at other gyms. Otherwise enjoy!

I'm curious about joining, too. I consider myself a gym rat - whta were the issues if you dont mind my asking? thanks!
I, too have been a member for about two or three months now - I like it as well - at the gym I use everyone cleans the machines as they go - I have never seen a problem as far as that goes. I think for a no frills gym it is great - granted they don't have all the stuff that Golds Gym has, but for now I don't need that. Plus I don't have the money to pay for all that extra stuff - half of which I would never use anyways. I do wish they had classes sometimes though!
They have a rather disruptive fire alarm for grunting, dropping weights, etc. and have a loose dress code.
Another thing I like about Planet Fitness is the staff - they are SUPER friendly and always open the door on time @ 5am! Big help!
I have had no problems at Planet Fitness. My gym is small and limited but it's only $10 a month. And I visited another one an hour away from mine which was 10 times the size with 10 times the equipment. I would suggest putting together a workout plan and then seeing if they have the equipment to do it. There are some many different ways to work a muscle or do cardio that you can exchange one exercise for another if your limited.
I wouldn't worry about cleanliness. There are spray bottles with sanitizer all over the gym. You're supposed to wipe down anything you use.
Personally I like the rules and I have never heard the alarm. The rules are great; no grunting, no dropping weights, no dew rags, have to bring shoes, and no judging. These rules keep the annoying muscle heads away from the gym. You would think that they were at war or getting a leg amputated with all the sounds they make. Nobody ever bothers me. I keep to myself and so does everyone else.
My only complaint is the food. Once a month they give away pizza, once a week they have bagels in the morning, the employees eat their dinner at the tables next to the cardio machines (Chinese, chicken wings, meatball sub; just a few I have seen and smelled), and right next to the gym is a fried chicken and pizza place. Smells like fried chicken when I arrive and it smells like fried chicken when I leave. Maybe this is a good thing and I will associate fried food with pain!
