How long can you hold the plank? I can hold the plank (on my elbows) for 3 minutes, I wanna get to 5 minutes. I'm just curious... :)

Hmm... I've never tried to time it before... I just get bored and stop, lol.  I may have to find out now!

are you doing it on your knees or toes?

I've done it for 10 minutes before (on my toes, not my knees...that's cheating!). After about 4 minutes, it becomes easy. You'll get it soon enough!

I do them on my toes :) I can't imagine doing 10 minutes!!!

Good Life's fitness test has the plank set at excellent if you can do it for 1 min 30s. High high was your butt up for 10 min? hehe, ya i can do it for about 3 min and that's it.

If you're looking for a challenge, try a rolling plank on a stability ball.  Just put your elbows and forearms on the ball and feet on the ground.  The closer your feet are together the harder it will be (your core will need to stabilize you from rolling side to side more).  Now roll the ball forward and away from you until you're only supported on your elbows then roll it back.  The first time I did that, I found 20-30 reps was a lot harder than a 1 minute static plank.

Rather than just holding for a longer time, you have more degrees of freedom to make this more challenging.  You can vary foot stance (again closer is harder), speed (how long it takes you to roll out and back) and number of reps, size and type of ball (firm vs rubbery).

On strength training sessions given by my badminton coach, we'd usually do a plank on the right palm for about ten minutes. Karate would have the class on our knuckles for about twenty five, and we'd get bored watching everyone else training while we would hold on for dear life.

Lift weights and in a month, thirty minutes should be no biggie.

Sounds really hard! But besides that, 30 min, that would bore me to tears!

My brain needs constant entertaining....

thats sounds really challenging ds1973. im gonna have to try that

silverbutterfly, I had to keep my body pretty parallel to the ground. And this was only once, guys haha. I doubt I could do it again. I used to swim competitively 2.5 hours/day and the coaches would yell at us and push us to our physical limits. If I lifted my butt I would get yelled at by the coaches haha.
