Planning Ahead

Quote  |  Reply

So I'm currently one week into my diet. For the first time I've accepted weight loss as a long term project. I've never managed to really utilize self-control before, but so far I'm doing pretty good. My profile estimates that I'll have hit my goal some time in May. During the week I diet, and soon hopefully I'll have the enough fill-power to get out of bed and hit the gym, cardio! My question is about weekends..

This past weekend was my first and I went a lil overboard, Thai and Chinese food, etc. So for future weekends I'd like to eat like I will eat when I'm satisfied with my weight. weeks = lose weight, weekends= learn how to eat to maintain. But how do I do this?? Can I have my Thai food and eat it too?

HELP!

Hi,

I started to think about things like this in some simalarity.  The best I could think of, in conjuction with a nutrionist I have been in contact with, is to say, moderation, some planning and figuring out how to level the excess calories.

I would guess that you have a calorie limit. I'll just guess, for the sake of some reasoning here, 1500 calories a day.  You know you will consume another 500 calories for the day.  There are a couple of differnent things to do with those extra 500 calories, that made your daily calorie limit exceed 1500 and go to 2000.

1).  Excercise the extra calories off over the period of a week. Walk 20 minutes a day, if you can walk.  (I do not know your physical abilities)

2).  Eat 100 less calories per day during the week to offset the calories you just added.  So, if you're limit is 1500 calories, over the course of the week, eat 100 calories less.

It seems however, you would like your Thai weekly and eat it too, without causing damage to your weight.  I do not know how to do that every single week - honestly.  I guess it's about your body.  Knowing how your body reacts to food.  How have you gained weight?  What foods cause you to gain weight ?  Your genetics ?

Any amount of activity will be greatly appreciated by your dieting body, that is for sure.  Ask your doctor for advise on activity. *

Relax for now.   The very best to you !

*I am not an expert in this at all.  Just offering advise. If you need further advise, may I suggest contacting a nutrioinist (perhaps your health insurance company can advise you) or your family doctor can help as well.
