How are you planning to avoid Halloween candy?
Cause the 2 boxes and 1 bag sitting in the kitchen of my firm are killing me. And I have to admit.... I've been naughty and probably had more than I should.
Or should I just somehow admit defeat and have 1 a day. LOL
Reason: 10/30/08: Stickied for a day or two for the holiday spirit; 11/3/08 unstickied.
I have been admitting defeat and eating one piece a day....... and logging the calories.. with me I feel worse about it if is on my log and I have to look at it.
One piece of candy a day is NOT 'defeat' no matter how tight your diet is - defeat would be eating the whole bag at once! Small amounts of candy are only bad if they keep on getting larger...
I am allowing myself one a day. Yesterday, I had a nestles crunch, today it was a butterfinger. Even though, they are small...they still get the job done!!! Candy is my one true vice. I just can't shake it:)
i throw out what i dislike and send most of the rest to my bf's work.... now thats with my son's candy lol, i only buy candy i enjoy to give out, and im not such a sugar addict that i cant resist..... good thing too! lol
I actually decided not to give out candy this year. In years past, we never had a ton of kids...really, less than a dozen. All of the sudden last year, I got slammed with kiddies at my door. I actually ran out but luckily, I had enough for the last group of kids. This year, I'm gonna do my own thing.
Previously, I wouldnt open the bags of candy until Halloween night so the temptation wasn't as great. I'm the kind of gal that can't have just one while a whole bowl sits there.
I'm with trendstudent, I don't open the bags until Halloween night. Also, I try and buy candy that I personally don't like, i.e. Almond Joy. I also purchased small bags of pretzels that are shaped like bats. Those are only 50 calories per bag so if I wanted one I wouldn't feel bad eating it.
I don't really eat candy but give me a fat free fudgsicle and look out!
hmm... heres an idea... don't eat it! :)
I grabbed one of my favorites on a Shop desk Yesterday- a mini Almond Joy- If I make my goal for friday, I'll eat the candy, if I don't it will go in the freezer for another week.
Ahhh and one a day is not bad, remember if you completely avoid things like candy and chocolate, when you do indulge you may over indulge, so enjoy one and log the truth, and do a few jumping jacks afterwards, You'll Feel Great!
first, i'm not going to buy any until friday.
second, i'm going to give it to the kiddies by the handful.
third, whatever's leftover is MINE and not to be avoided!
Out of sight, out of mind- the temptation would be horrible if it was sitting where I glanced at it several times a day. If this is the case, put it away where you can't see it and it'd be a pain to get into it. Like your attic. Or garage. Or trunk of your vehicle. Then get it out close to treat-or-treating time.
OR, this is what I did-
Out of sight, out of mind... out of house! My kids kept looking at the box of cheesies sitting on the kitchen floor, and kept begging for "just one bag, pleeease, just one??". Finally I gave in, letting them each have "just one". The next day when I got home from work, I saw that they pulled the same "just one" trick on hubby. So, I took all of the candy over to my next door neighbors (my parents!) and asked them if they would distribute the candy for me, since I would be out with the kids anyway. The kids (nor I) have been tempted since!
i agree wit qmwillcand............
candy and sweets have a suductive voice and even if ur in a nother room u can still hear it calling 2 u............ the mere fact dat the candy is der is torture!!!!!!!!!!!!
do this completly get rid of the candy or (if ur not strong)ask a friend or someone who lives wit u 2 hide da candy and only give u one a day..
i know its sounds stupid but if u cant control ur self wit just one go ahed and do these..
on the other hand if u can go ahed and eat one a day is fine as long as its one of those small mini candies okayy =D
well good luk chika! let me no if u need more help!
I've been having 1 piece a day, and I'm selectively choosing 8 mini candies to eat ON halloween. Gives me something to look forward to! And I won't feel deprived, plus I'll get to enjoy old goodies.
And yes, they DO have a voice. Recees are the loudest for me!
on halloween if you go out and get candy, or you have some leftover at the house, before you eat it, think to yourself, is there anything here that I haven't eaten before?
if the answer is yes, and it looks really good, then go for it! one candy wont kill you. and if there is one thing that you just cant resist, have it! again, one candy isnt gonna kill you, just dont go eat the whole bag. besides, its halloween, and when are you EVER going to buy candy at another time of year? its a holiday for gods sakes just enjoy your one day of candy!
It's my birthday also!
So I tell myself ahead of time that I'm going to allow a treat for once...since I NEVER eat chocolate or candy...unless its sugar free chocolate pudidng lol
But I know that I'll be with people I love, friends and boyfriend, and candy doesn't have to be the main focus.
I'm gonna try to dance whatever I have off that night! haha
I'm going out that night so it's not like I'll be home to give it to trick or treaters anyway.
If I was going to stay home maybe I'd be the buzzkill who gives out apples and carrot sticks lol.
I have some sugar free candy around to eat, and when I'm giving out I'm going to be drinking beer :-D
I didn't buy it for home. There is some at my work so I'm just not trying that first piece (that's the only one I have to resist! lol.) That would open the flood gates for me so I'd just best not go there. I avoid walking by it and thankfully the bowl isn't clear so I don't know what's in there.
For me the actual halloween day wont be hard but I plan on avoiding going to the store the next few days to hide from the halloween candy super sales.
Honestly, before you look at it as a defeat since that does open the old "well I blew it today anyway" train of thought where you'll be easier swayed into a binge... look at how active you are during the day. If you're up and walking about (often) at work then maybe investing in a pedometer to track steps might help. If you're more sedentary during the day then you can always park farther out at work or when shopping to make up the difference. Less guilt if you do have a treat.
But if you want something, seriously just allow one. If I buy a large candy bar I split it and freeze it right away, it's not easy but it does work. A bag of mini's... I pull out my 1-2 and put it up nice and high where it's a pain to get. Logged the 2 mini kit-kat I had yesterday and really don't feel guilty. Was up running around all day decorating (kitties + spider webs do not mix!) last minute, after running 1 3/4 miles in the am and then walked 90 mins trick or treating and visiting in my in-law's neighborhood.... half of which I spent carrying my 3 yr old. Poor peanut kept getting stepped on despite a white and reflective ghost costume. Next year I sew something with flashing lights lol.
Sugar free lollipops!
If you start craving candy just stick one of them in your mouth: It'll get rid of your sweet cravings and keep your mouth occupied for 20 minutes. I always have a bag around the house just in case.
