Plastic Surgery...
Would you if you could, and what on?
Pretending that it's free and that theyre are no consequences.
Or would you simply prefer to grow old gracefully?
How about you people that have already undergone it?

I would get.... nothing :] My boobies are pretty small, but I can live with that. I already got Lasik, which isn't actually plastic surgery but some people are mentioning it (it is awesome, GO DO IT!) So I'm pretty content as it is :] I just need to exercise more and get rid of the rest of my pudge, and then I'll be super :]

How much did it cost you? I don't have insurance and if I elected to get it through my husband's it doesn't cover it anyway because it's considered "cosmetic" since you can wear glasses/contacts. What was the procedure like? I want it real bad, I've worn glasses my entire life... I want to be freeeeeeee!
Lasik! I'd love to be able to finish my makeup without the need of putting on my glasses to see what I've done... LOL! I used to fear complications further down the line. I also worried that they would come up with improvements. The concern I'd be jipped. I'd achieve basic vision while others had their decked out package deals. Called... Superman Vision!
So... I didn't want to get it done too soon incase doing it would cause me to be unable to benefit from new techniques learnt on others. I've been waiting to have it done because it seemed like a fairly ' new ' thing. I've wanted it done since first hearing about it though.
I'm planning on having it done sometime next year. I'd love to hear stories about others having it done. Good and bad. If anyone has them to share here.
Seriously though. I'm not against any form of cosmetic surgery. At this point that's all I want to have done.
Cost for mine was 3,000ish. It was done all with lasers, in some versions they use a knife to cut open the flap, but man I don't want knives in my eyeballs kthx. And it was the fancy version, so it was more expensive than the standard version, or like the standard with knive slicing would have been even cheaper.
The procedure is very fast, I think the whole thing takes 10-15 minutes. The actual correction part with the zapping is like 10-30 seconds depending on how bad your eyes are. They put a thing under your eyelids to hold them open, and tape down your eyelashes, put a suction cup on your eye, and make the flap. Then they open up the flap and do the correction. Then they rinse your eye off, and recover the flap. Easy peasy! Then they do the next eye.
Okay I was scared sh*tless the WHOLE TIME. I was freaking out, hyperventilating, crying, the nurse was holding my hand and I was clutching a little stuffed Nemo... but they were really nice about it and realized I'm just a huge pansy. If only they'd drugged me up a little first.
Recovery is super fast. I took a nap and when I woke up my eyes were a little bit gritty, but basically fine. I could see! It was a miracle. They give you tons of eyedrops and a little "eye shield" so you don't rub your eyes in your sleep and dislodge your flaps or something. And I went to work the next day!
I had a few normal side effects. Dry eyes, mine only lasted about 2 weeks, some people have it for months, years, or the rest of their lives. Also I was pretty sensitive to bright lights, sometimes it's harder to see at night, though I'm not sure if I just imagined that part or if I really had it. And, I saw halos around lights at night. Im not positive how long the halos lasted, probably a few months to about a year.
I had Lasik when I was 19, and I'm 21 now, never had any complications or problems. I believe one of my eyes is 20/20 and the other is even better than that. My contacts prescription was -2.5 and -2.75 I think.
I've already had plastic surgery and yes, I would do it again. I had a nose job. My nose was naturally on the large side due to genetics, and then it was broken around 5th or 6th grade. I had rhinoplasty to take the bump out. It also helped me breathe better but the intent was purely to make it look normal - the breathing was a side effect.
I had no complications and my doctor was great. The cost was between $7-$8k and it was years ago (maybe 10 years? can't remember exactly). I went to a good surgeon that was recommended by a friend who had a breast reduction w/ the same doctor, and I did a lot of research before making any decisions.
I would like to get a breast reduction and lift. But don't have the money. If I ever do have the money it will be one of the first things on my list. Next to laser hair removal!
There was another thread about plastic surgery a while back and some people really slammed it. My thought it that it helped me to feel normal again like I did before my nose was broken. I don't think it was vain. I think the same of many other procedures. I think it's perfectly fine to remove extra skin after drastic weight loss, a tummy tuck after having having kids, a breast reduction or implant to feel more confident.
When you get into the people who are addicted to plastic surgery and stuff like that it's a different ball game.
YES!!! I am so getting a boob job one day. Everyone tells me to wait until after I have kids though: 1) b/c they will stretch out when I'm pregnant therefore the stretching of the implant won't hurt as bad; and 2) b/c they will stretch out when I'm pregnant and then sag...and then I'll need new implants : )
I'm getting ready for 'hard core diet time' December 26th...if I'm still loose or saggy once I get down to my goal weight, I would love to have a tummy tuck or lipo on my thighs. Everything else I'm fine with. I'm hoping to not have that much sagging since I'm 27 right now...but you never know.
I might need botox or something around my eyes b/c I'm starting to get a few fine lines around my eyes where I 'stretch' them to put on eyeliner. I even had my eyeliner tattooed on to prevent this...but I was a bleeder and all the ink came out : ( I have 2 free touch-ups but my lady conveniently keeps changing my appointment - grrr...
ALI - I love your cute new profile pic : )
