Hi

I currently weight 11 stone 12lbs, 5ft 6" tall, am doing weight watchers, and up until now have lost well.

I have hit a weight plateau and can't seem to get off of it, I do jazzercise 1 - 2 times a week, currenlty run at the weekends  and do the wii fit.

Does anyone have ideas of how many calories etc I should be eating and what I should be eating to kick start my weight loss again, as it is driving me mad not losing and I am now feeling quite depressed about the whole situation.

Many thanks in advance

How long have you been at your current weight, and how many calories were you eating up til now?

Off the top of my head, you should probably be eating around 1500 (I'm assuming you are female and in your 20s)

Hi

I am 38 years old, probably eating around 1500.

Do you have any suggestions?

My first rec is make sure you are counting accurately. You said you are in weight watchers - do you count calories for that at all, or just points?  If just points, I'd say start counting calories as well, and make sure you aren't undereating. Even if you have been counting calories, go back, make sure that your servings aren't getting larger, that you aren't sneaking extra bites and not logging them, etc.

Also, how long has it been? A week or two can just be a small stall for weight loss, and then the weight starts moving again, whereas a month or two means you need to shake things up.

You can try a few different things. Have some maintanence days (eat as much as you burn), switch up your exercise, or even take a break from it for a few days.

Good luck!

Hi

Thanks for your reply,.

I am doing points, (new Discover plan)

The only things I don't weigh are some fruits and vegetables, most vegetables are 0 points so can eat them freely.

Will have a couple of days of the exercise.

Thanks again

yesterday i made a brown rice and chicken stirfry with lots of veg- onion, brocolli, green beans, tomatoes, and red pepper. i weighed the veg and it added to 100 kcal. And i don't know which fruit you are talking about but a piece of fruit can have up to 100 kcal. so maybe they fruit and veg are taking you over, depending on how much you're eating of course.

Hi runningkaty.

I do weight watchers as well, but I also keep track of my calories. (I'm on flex points so I eat 21 points a day and have 35 flex points a week - I always save them for the weekend and have a cheat day I would die if I couldnt eat french fries and drink beer :-)!) At the end of the day my points work out to about 1100-1200 calories. So if I'm under that I always have a snack, to avoid this mysterious "starvation mode"... I've been on the program since early Jan, and I lost really quickly at first and now im slowing down. Which makes sense cause I was overeating like crazy. I was eating comparable to my 220lbs 6'2" fiance. (Im 5' 5.5" and started out at 148 lbs, Im down to 138lbs now, Im medium build with a very athletic frame)  My advice is to push through, its hard to stay motivated when you see the numbers which were once drastically dropping, slow down....Plateaus are usually temporary, your body adjusts to the lower calorie intake. I cant give you advice on kickstarting your weight loss again (talk to your ww leader, maybe drop a point or two if it is safe), I can only say be patient and keep positive. It happens to all of us, this time now is when your perserverence and will power are most important!!

Good luck!

Hey,

I've been fortunate that I haven't hit a plateau yet and I've been using Calorie Counters for a year now.  One of my friends that also was using Weight Watchers and Calorie Counters introduced me to a new site called the Wendie Plan.  Enter The Wendie Plan in a search engine and you will find the site.  Anyhow, it's been great to implement that with our Calorie Count site and we are noticing a consistent weight loss between 2 and 3 lbs a week.

Hope this finds success for you!!
