plateau after losing only 2 lbs? Whaaaaat?

Quote  |  Reply

Hello,

I just lost 2 lbs after about 2 weeks of dieting (1200-1400 cals/day with maybe 3 days of 1700 cal), and for the last week I have been continuing my diet but my weight has remained EXACTLY the same! I know about plateaus but is it normal for them to happen after losing only 2 lbs? I'm 5'3", and went from 111 to 109 lbs (i'm only looking to lose 2-3 more lbs).

Any advice or ideas for breaking this strange plateau would be awesome!

A reasonable amount of weight for someone who is overweight to lose in a week is 1% of their total body-weight.   Since you're already very light, if you manage half a pound a week you'd be doing very well.  In that light, 2lbs in 3 weeks is pretty good going.

BTW... a plateau is when you spend weeks and months at the same weight, not a few days.  Smile

lol Jane!  OP, the use of the word "plateau" is so overrated.  You only want to lose 2-3 more pounds.  Sister, that could take months!  Hang in there, it will happen.

I was stuck on the same weight when I hit 109 pounds, and I'm your same height. I felt really bad so I ate a lot less and it didn't help much, so just don't do that haha.. [sorry I'm not much help]

I am five foot and have lost about two pounds (139-137) In like three or four weeks which is really good.  However I am stuck as well but I am just happy that I am losing weight this fast.  Just hang in there and keep doing what you are doing :).

^ This. I could easily post gi-jane's comment verbatim but I'll just suggest that you read her post again.
