I've currently been stuck with mine for 2+ weeks, after successfully losing 10 lbs.

Plateaus can seem like they last forever. I had one that lasted almost a month. But I broke through and lost 3 lbs. the next week.
STICK with what your doing and you will make it through! Have you tried adding a little calories just like 100 one day and then 200 hundred the next. Just for a couple days then go back to your regular. Sometimes that can jump start wieght loss.
Good Luck:)

I have gone through two. The first was three weeks, and I hopefully am at the end of the second one, if so this one lasted three weeks also. If not, then I don't know :0(
Mine have all lasted 3+ weeks. They suck
I just broke a 3 week long platuea today. (I never can spelll that stupid word!) It was very disheartening when you're doing everything you can and it doesn't feel like anything is happening. My advice? Just keep doing what you know you should, and let your body catch up to your weight loss. That's what they are, even though they suck!
Good luck!

What are they exactly, why do they happen?
I went through one and finally broke it this past weekend. So it lasted about 1 month. I actually decreased my calories and increased my workout. BUT I AM HUNGRY! Plus I started taking vitamins do those make you hungry?????
Holy moley, did I go through a plateau... crimony!
The longest plateau for me was nearly 7 months I think. It was unbelievable! I was never so frustrated throughout my fat loss journey as I was then. The scale never moved, but I did gain lean muscle mass, but my overall body fat didn't budge. So I did I break-on-through to the otherside. Well, first of all I had to limit the pity parties to once a week or so. I visited my doctor to bitch a little, and she said, "Dee, you are doing everything right, you are eating better, exercising regularly, no smoking, no drinking, and you are getting a handle on your stress levels. You are a doctor's dream patient, so be patient! *Giggled to herself*" You're body just wants a vacation, let her have it, take it easy for a couple of weeks too, eat healthy, exercise, but be smart about it."
Three weeks later the plateau broke.
I am actually going through one now, and it is a doozy too, it is not has much a plateau as it is a slow crawling weight loss, but it is just as frustrating. Even as a personal trainer, I have crappy days too. I am not one of those personal trainers who have been a picture of health and wellness from day one, oh no sister... quite the opposite, I've be obese, I've gone through the emotional eating, I have gone through the self-doubt and pity parties.
Trust me, once you get down to about 10-20lbs to your fighting weight, it gets harder and harder to convince the body to let go of that damn fat. Best bet is to stay positive, focus more on eating for health, not fat loss, and focus on why you are so committed to do this in the first place. This is not an easy task. It really gets emotional at time, and we feel like giving up, but ya know what, that's what your body wants you to do, because it likes to eat eat eat and rest rest rest. So kick it in the ass and tell your body that you have to work together.
Think of a plateau as a place to pause for a moment to look back at how far you have come, pat yourself on the back, and then to reassess and keep on truckin' towards health, wellness and fitness.

Look at it this way... if you're eating less calories than you're burning, then you've got to be gaining muscle mass.
That's not a bad thing right?
Who cares what the scale says as long as your building muscle and burning fat.

I think I might be on Coach Dee's track of one of the longest plateaus ever! I have been on one since March... lets see that is almost 5 months :( I work out just about every day and eat no more than 1300 cals at the most, and every morning when i step on the scale.... nothing but the same number. I wish my body would wake up!!
Yikes edryden... have you considered upping your daily calories? Only 1,300 seems like an extremely low number, even if you're a small person.
A quick google turned this article up on what happens when you get too few calories per day...

Terribly frustrating isn't it???
However annoying, it is normal when you are losing weight. With each pound you also lose water. You go on losing, but not all what scale shows is fat. Eventually time comes when your body has to adjust and keeps water it needs. Scale stops showing lower weight and sometimes even goes up. It is just a water and eventually it will level up. If you are eating less calories than you burn you are losing fat gradually. It is water which makes sudden changes (or not changes at all) on your scales. If you continue on your healthy lifestyle, scales will start showing better numbers.
This is the most critical time, when people who don't understand this process give up. Now you know, so stick to what you have determined to do and you will come through and will be happy.
Good luck!

I just broke a 7 week long plateau ........ just keep doing everything right and it will happen! The thing that got me through was I took measurements - my size WAS decreasing, just not the toopid scales!
oh my god i hope mine doesn't last 7 weeks!!!!!!!!I'm stuck at 152 for over 2 weeks it's the most frustrating thing ever!! I'm starting to get really discouraged. first i blamed it on PMS and then i convinced myself that i had built up alot of muscle.....i'm running out of excuses to give myself..maybe i'll buy a tape measure?
Mine has been a month. I didn't realize how long it had been until today. It's my fault--i'm eating maintenance calories, or just under, more often than not. I think i'm just a little sick of dieting. I want to take a week off completely--eat whatever i want, no guilt, but I am just too scared about getting fat again. I should have to concentrate so hard to stay under 1500 calories. I don't know how some of you do it so easily!
Sigh.
Sigh.
So far, the longest one for me was about 6 weeks. I almost quit, but you guys wouldn't let me! When the plateau broke, I lost 4 pounds very fast. I later realized that on all those diets I'd quit over the years, I quit when I reached the first plateau. Back then I thought that since I was eating 1000 to 1200 calories a day, I'd have to drop it even lower, and I just couldn't do it, so I gave up.
What I learned this time (thanks dee) is that I wasn't eating enough! I can't tell you what an epiphany this was for me! now I'm having 1300 to 1500 a day and losing. It's slow, but I'm losing!
So thanks to everyone here!!!

during a plateau, you may wanna focus more on your measurements than your scale, esp if you are doing any weights/toning - may give you some much-needed reasurance
