IM 17 YEARS OLD AND I WEIGH 210LBS. I REALLY WANT TO LOSE ATLEAST 20 TO 30 POUNDS BEFORE I GO BACK TO SCHOOL IN AUGUST. BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO LOSE THE WEIGHT OR EAT HEALTHY I TRY TO DO WHAT I THINK IS RIGHT BUT I MAINTAIN THE WEIGHT. FOR THE LAST 9 MONTHS I'VE BEEN 210 WITHOUT GOING OVER OR LOSING ANY POUNDS. Ok, heres what to do.

If you are maintaing weight at the calories you are eating.

Whatever calories you are eating now..-500 out of them.

one pound=3500. you should lose a pound a week.

for the rest of the pounds you would like to lose per week do it through cardio.

walk an hour briskly and that should be another -500.

now you are -1000 calories per day and losing two pounds a week.

if you wanted to lose 30lbs by school time (aug) you would have to lose around 4.9 lbs a week..which is very hard to do.

Set your goal for 20 lbs and also set a big goal for 30lbs.

using the tools on this site work out your bmr and how much you should be eating - do a sensible amount of exercise where you can and see how you go.

dont starve yourself otherwise body will go into starvation mode and hang onto everything you put into it.
OKAY IM  UNDERSTANDING THE EATING PART..

BUT WHEN IT COMES TO WORKING OUT I DONT UNDERSTAND MUCH HOW DO I GO ABOUT THAT/
What options do you have available to you?

Are you able to run/jog or go for walks around the block or at a near by park or track?

Do you have a jump rope?

Do you have or can you get a set of dumbbells?

Do you have a treadmill/elliptical?

What other kind of equipment do you have available to you or can you purchase?
i have alot of machinery here i have everything you listed but im not sure on what to do.

like when you jump rope should i squeeze my stomach in while im doing it with out letting go. or should i not.

or when i do sit ups should i squeeze or not  im having problems like that...

dy_08 it really doesn't matter how you do it, but the important part is that you DO IT.  Just get out and walk.  Walk a 2-3 mile route every day.  Jump the rope for 30 minutes. 

Why would it matter how you specifically do these excercises?  All that matters is that you do them.  If you walk, walk a little faster than a stroll where you could still have a conversation with someone but don't really want to - that is a good "walking for excercise" pace.
